A personal growth advocate and nerd, I’ve read hundreds of books on goals, potential, and intentional living. The title, All It Takes is a Goal, can evoke a “Yeah, right. Tell me another one,” as if all that’s required for success is having a goal. Hello, rainbows and unicorns! However, don’t be deceived by the title or the table of content’s simplicity. Acuff makes the often-missed aspects of goal setting and achievement so accessible and understandable that his message can appear like innate knowledge. How? Because his process aligns with how people and life actually function. ATG is packed with practical steps, but what makes them work is because you understand the human design principles behind them. You’ll learn not just what to do but why, empowering you from the inside out, rather than the outside in. In Acuff style, you’ll also laugh and feel like you’re being invited to join the team by an inspiring coach rather than being lectured to by a goal drill sergeant or reading a “Look how awesome I am. You can be like me, too!” narrative. The message in ATG is as applicable to someone starting a hobby worm farm or decluttering the house as to training for a marathon or launching an international business. If you have something you want to accomplish, ATG is a must-read.

Jon Acuff delivers again! All It Takes Is A Goal shows you how, step by step, to try small goals out, graduate them to middle goals, then achieve Guaranteed Goals. Or, you can start with a BIG goal you want to achieve (a Guaranteed Goal), and work to middle and small goals. I love the way Jon focuses on trying goals out first as small goals and seeing how they work. So many times I've set BIG goals at the beginning of the year only to find that they aren't the right goal as the year progresses. With Jon's process, you start by setting small goals (with a big goal in mind) and see how it works. If it works, keep going. If not, reassess and decide if something needs to change or it isn't the right goal. I've been using this process for a while now (I'm a member of Jon's Guaranteed Goals Community) and have achieved more, while feeling great about my achievements, letting go without guilt of goals that aren't right, and seeing my Guaranteed Goals get more in focus every day. I'd recommend reading the first section "The List" then reading the Conclusion. The Conclusion provides the roadmap for your goals that helped me better understand where the rest of the chapters were going. All It Takes Is A Goal is another of Jon Acuff's books I'll read again and again (in fact, I've started re-reading it). If you want to reach your goals (and are willing to read the book and do the work) then BUY THIS BOOK NOW!

Jon Acuff’s All it Takes is a Goal May be his best book yet. It takes what seems to be a redundant topic - achieving goals - and gives us a fresh look at how to set and accomplish them. I especially liked how Jon starts with the Best Moments List. This one action helped me to overcome depression and see my priorities in a new light. It revealed what’s important to me without judgement and enabled me to start planning a future better aligned with my talents and desires. Not only that, I had greater gratitude for the good things in my life and more appreciation for loved ones. As Jon eases us into goal setting, he challenges us to make it a game. Why do goals have to be so difficult? Sure, the work you put into them will be challenging. But making it a game I want to win makes it fun and certainly compelling. Jon breaks goal setting down into 3 zones: the comfort zone, the chaos zone, and the potential zone. We always want our goals to be in the potential zone. The book explains what these zones are, how we can slip into them, and the right steps we need to take to be in the just right potential zone. I really liked how Jon inspires us to get started with an easy goal. He explains exactly how to do that which really facilitates momentum in your goals. In fact, this book is chock full of examples and actionable steps to define your goals and to create actionable steps. I’ve read a lot of books on goals, but Jon simplifies them while ensuring it’s easy to get started. These concepts I’ve learned from Jon have already helped me to accomplish more goals this year than in the last 5+ years.

Jon Acuff is a fantastic writer and one that I will read time and time again. This book is no different. There are a lot of actionable steps that you can take during and after reading the book. Jon has you create a Best Moments List to see what parts of your life have created the best days and this is the base for your goals moving forward. We have zones of performance that Jon goes through in the book and we have different levels of goals.

How does he do it?? Jon has amazed me once again with a book that is insanely relatable, well-researched, and brilliantly practical. There are action steps here for everyone to move closer to living within their full potential, and you can do as much or as little as you have capacity for. The print version was fun to read, but it also blew my mind more than once! I'm excited to go back through it with a highlighter and the audiobook version to take action in my own life!

This book tells the truth starting with the title on its cover, and it never lets up. Jon untangled decades worth of my broken patterns, and I'm speaking as the world's foremost authority on burning stress and disaster to motivate myself. Well, as the world's former foremost authority. Because I read All It Takes Is a Goal, and now I'm burning cleaner fuels like impact, craft, community and stories instead. It's changed literally every day of my life since I read it. You should read it, too.

In “All it Takes is a Goal”, Jon Acuff asks reader to reflect on their best moments to determine how to create more of those moments. Looking back helps determine what fuels you. Next to start setting goals, Jon ask readers to decide what “game they want to play” and “how do they win”. Acuff lays out his structured multi tiered approach to goal setting. First, start with setting easy goals that can be accomplished in a few days. Middle goals take more disciple over 30-90 days. Only a select few goals reach long-term or “guaranteed goals” which lead to undeniable improvement over a year or more. Jon Acuff takes on the daunting topic of realizing your potential and goal setting by breaking it down into steps that are actionable and repeatable. This steps can be applied to any aspect of your life (career, finances, relationships, health, fun). Acuff’s writing is filled with humor and stories that make it a fast and enjoyable read. I have now read three of his books and look forward to reading more. This book is for anyone that feels like they have untapped potential and just need a system to follow in order to let it out.

This book exceeds all expectations. I have been reading Jon Acuff’s books, listening to him at conferences, and have subscribed to his podcasts for years. I am even a member of his Guaranteed Goals Community. I had an idea of what would be in this book, and yet I still finished it feeling as though I was holding a cheat code in my hand. I struggle with books and speakers full of great ideas but no practical steps to achieve them. This book is a step by step guide to achieving your goals, guaranteed: declutter your house, get in shape, write a book, start a business, learn to knit…ANYTHING. This book will go on my Mount Rushmore of books, and will definitely be one that I both recommend and give away often!

I love Jon's books and his podcast! I always had the thought that looking to your past to set a goal wasn't helpful. You needed to look to the future because that's where goals live, but after reading Jon's book I realize how much information our past can give us. You need to look to your past to better understand how you tick and what will get you moving and keep you moving towards you goals. Jon's step by step formula will be an easy roadmap to get you moving toward your goals. Jon takes a serious topic and makes it funny. I'm excited to map out my goals and create my scorecards to keep try of my progress!
Goal setting without drudgery

I’m a long time fan and reader of Jon Acuff’s so I’m familiar and enjoy his style of writing. He’s funny, smart, and loves sprinkling in stats to emphasize points he’s making. I find all of that a great formula for relating and understanding the material he presents which in this book is how to name and attain a goal of your choosing. This book will involve pulling out pen and paper to maximize what he’s sharing and it’s worth doing the exercises he provides. His own stories enhance the experience and provide the bonus of laughing in the process of setting and achieving goals. Unless you aren’t someone who enjoys laughing, then maybe this isn’t the book for you. I typically equate goal setting with drudgery. This book removed that stigma as the process he describes toward choosing and teaching a goal to be revealed almost without realizing it and I’d add painlessly.

Everyone sets goals, but not everyone meets them. This book is the game-changer you need. I got an early copy and I'm glad I did. Jon Acuff once again crafts a clear and fun work that is bound to impact your life. No matter whether you're sitting in the corner office of some skyscraper or just at the dinner table, Acuff's steps will help you succeed. Most other books I've read on goal setting try to get you across the finish line as quickly as possible with a cookie cutter approach. Acuff offers something more personal, realistic, and still gets them across their finish line cheering. All It Takes Is a Goal is sure to give you a fresh perspective, a stronger strategy, and the inspiration you need to meet your goals.

They say good things come to those who wait but am I ever glad I joined Jon’s book launch team so I could dive into this one early! Some of the most common concepts that have taken me over ten years to even begin to unlock have been explored in the pages of All It Takes Is a Goal. The book is filled with actionable items that can be easily followed as you read along. The best part: real life examples with a touch of Jon’s undeniable humor are sprinkled in with every turn of the page. The book begins with flipping the norm on top of its head by looking at the past instead of the future to allow the reader to better understand what they truly love in life so goals cannot only be obtainable but also properly established. Thinking it could not possibly get any easier than this, Jon then provides a fun way of turning goals into games and a breakdown of the various types of goals depending on longevity and resources necessary to tackle them. With all these goal tactics rolled into one book, any goal setter will be able to conquer the goals listed on their to-do list and beyond!
