Q: My doctor told me to get an Apple watch to monitor AFib. The new Apple 6 states that "The irregular rhythm notification is not designed for people who have been previously diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (AFib)". Why? Thank you.
A: Hey! I used to work at Apple and this was a frequent ASKED question. What Apple means by that is you should never think of your Apple Watch being a replacement for a doctor and solely using your apple watch to diagnose any health related issues. It is, however, an amazing tool that does recognize certain medical issues such as AFib. I personally worked with someone who had an Apple Watch and used it for this reason and it have saved him many times. So while Apple states that it isn't designed for people who have previously been diagnosed, that is just their way of saying "We have this useful medical feature but are telling you that we are not licensed by medical professionals and do not want to get sued if by chance the watch fails." Hope I helped!
submitted byMichael - 4 years agoA: Hi Michael, It makes sense. Disclaimer. Glad to know that this “tool” is available! Thank you for your informed response. LaDeDah
submitted byLaDeDah - 4 years agoA: We know someone with a heart condition and can not tell you how many times the Apple watch has alerted them of a high bmp; they just thought they were tired. Sure enough, their bmp was climbing, gave them time to do what was needed to bring it back down. Found out their doctor had told them to get the Apple watch; they had a series 5, they traded their series 5 at Apple and just bought the series 6 because it includes the oxygen. All the adults in our family bought series 6 and can't imagine not having it.
