Q: Does this watch contain the metal Nickel on any part of it? I'm highly allergic to it.
submitted by Juniper - 2 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6
Since you have a high sensitivity to nickel, you’ll be happy to hear that the Garmin vívoactive 6 (launched in April 2025) is one of the safer models for your skin type, though there is one specific part to watch out for. Unlike many other smartwatches that use stainless steel (which contains roughly 10% nickel), the vívoactive 6 features an anodized aluminum bezel. Aluminum is generally nickel-free and much safer for people with your allergy. The main body of the watch is made of a fiber-reinforced polymer (a high-grade plastic). This part sits against your skin and is completely non-metallic and inert. The small metal buckle on the silicone strap is typically made of stainless steel. While Garmin uses high-quality 316L stainless steel that meets international "low nickel release" standards, it still contains trace amounts of nickel.

Q: Does this watch have a curling sport option for a workout?
submitted by Susan - 4 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6.
The Garmin vívoactive 6 (released in 2025) does not include a native, preloaded "Curling" activity profile out of the box. However, you can still track your curling sessions quite effectively using one of the following methods:
1. Use a Third-Party App (Recommended)
The most accurate way to track curling is through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. There is a highly-rated app specifically named "Curling" (developed by pmitchell) that is compatible with the vívoactive 6.
What it tracks: It specifically counts brush strokes using the watch's accelerometer.
Special features: It includes a stopwatch for sweepers to measure backline-to-hog split times and provides estimates for where the rock will stop.
Data: It logs the activity as a "Curling" session in your Garmin Connect history rather than a generic workout.
2. Create a Custom "Curling" Profile
If you don't want to download a third-party app, you can create a custom activity on the watch itself:
Press the Action button (top right) and select Add+.
Choose Other or Winter Sports as a template.
Name the activity "Curling."
Settings: I recommend turning GPS Off (since curling is indoors) and setting a data field for Heart Rate and Elapsed Time.
Note: This will track your heart rate and calories, but it won't count your sweeping strokes like the specialized app will.
3. Use the "Ice Skating" Profile
The vívoactive 6 comes with a preloaded Ice Skating profile. While it’s intended for skating, it uses the correct indoor environment settings (GPS off by default) and logic for ice-based movement. You can simply rename the activity to "Curling" in the Garmin Connect app after you finish.
If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.
The Garmin Vivoactive 6 is a highly praised smartwatch that excels in battery life, ease of use, and a variety of health tracking features. Guests appreciate its lightweight design and bright display, making it suitable for both casual wear and fitness activities. Many find it a significant upgrade from previous models, offering accurate tracking for steps, heart rate, and sleep. While some guests noted minor issues with specific features, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its value for health-conscious individuals.

Nice watch, but live event sharing defaults to off
I am overall very happy with the watch. Beautiful display a lot more activities to choose from compared to my Vivoactive 3 Music. My only complaint is that the live event sharing defaults to off. It will stay on for 24 hours, but then kicks off. Why? Other than that, all is good.

Better but not quite great!
Some nice features, great look and feel, some improvements over Vivoactive 4, but some features dropped!

Everything you need from a Smartwatch
I've had my Smartwatch for a little over two weeks. It's taken me a little longer to get used to all the apps that are loaded. Maybe it's taken a little longer for me because I'm a senior citizen, but what I can say I love this watch. Tracks me on my exercises at the gym. I play golf a couple of times a week. I loaded my watch with all the golf courses I play. Tracks my score, plus a load of other valuable items.

Love the watch, disappointed with texting/calling
So far I love this watch, but I do wish that you could text back and make calls with iphones. I misread the description where it says something about only available with androids. It still pops up on the watch screen so I can still read the text, but I can’t respond back on the watch like I expected to. As for calling, I can answer calls but it goes to my phone speaker, not the watch itself.

Love it!
I have only had this product for a few weeks but I love it so far! Battery lasts for at least a week even using it to record daily workout/hikes/walks. I am just a casual user (not training for anything, not particularly athletic) so it’s great for me! It tells me I have a stressful day nearly every day so I’m not sure what to make of that but I’ve enjoyed trying to get my sleep score up

Garmin watch - a great, reliable well made watch
I like my Garmin watch, however, I don’t understand some of the options. But wow, the charge is amazing, lasts so long, the vividness of the screen is exceptional. This is my 2nd Garmin, my other is the Vivoactive 5.

Vivoactive 6 is now my favorite
VivoActive 6, finally a Garmin that gives me more than day of operation without charging. In addition to the Vivoactive 6, I also have the Vivoactive HR, the Vivoactive 3 and the Venu Sq Music. The later 3 never gave me than a days operation on a charge. I am a 76 yr old Vietnam Vet. I have sleep issues diagnosed as REM Sleep Behavior Disorder. So Sleep tracking is important to me and Garmin has the best software I've experienced. The only physical activity I track is walking. The heart and SPO features are also great.

Good product/poor manual
I feel the manual was not very clear and how to use the watch most effectively, especially for training purposes regarding custom workouts and evaluation. Furthermore, the pairing with the app, although very simple and easy to do, is not very clear the most effective way to use it. I have found myself asking ChatGPT best and most effective ways to use the watch.

Excellent!
The Vivoactive6 provides the info I need to track my sleep score, steps and HRV. I like how it is easy to read, and deep dives into scoring. It doesn’t sync with my JRNY Spin Bike App, but I can manually enter the data into the Garmin app for tracking.

🤘🏼🤘🏼 it’s great
I’ve had the watch for almost a month, and it’s great. It’s done exactly what I bought it for. Compared to another smart watch I had to charge everyday, it’s nice being able to not think about a battery dying on me in the middle of a run.

Great watch
I originally bought a Lily Active and loved it, but decided I wanted a few more features so I upgraded to a Vivoactive 6. I’m so happy I did. It’s lightweight, fits comfortably on my wrist and is easy to use. If you’re on the fence, go ahead and make the purchase. It’s worth it!

Great features, nice looking watch
Nice looking watch, can wear when dressing up a bit or dressing down. Screen is bright and clear, and watch controls are fairly straightforward. Really like the watch. Lots of great information can be gleaned via the watch capabilities. Wish the battery time was a bit longer, but overall a great watch.

Great lifestyle appliance, expect setup focus
Summary: great upgrade to my Vivo 4S, feels like a major new design experience. The various features are now better placed to get same old "Intensity Minutes" and "Body Battery" upgraded and better placed. Sleep and stress integration are better positioned to be helpful. The physical watch weighs less but has bigger diameter with more display area. The band and watch feel better. Integration with Garmin Express, since I already had it for my Vivo 4S, was seamless but had new information data. Caveats: setup and use training is challenging, and the alleged documentation makes it necessary to use CoPilot or Gemini to answer how to do setup and operation, step by step. Perhaps investigate fast setup help at a local running store. I recommend sticking with the product despite a complex focus time to begin with. Good products take time to understand and provision to individual lifestyle, but now that I've been in process for a month, I feel the joy of a major helpful lifestyle appliance on my wrist.

This watch is the most consistently inconsistent watch in regards to heart rate, resting and active! I expected more this product, and yes I have tried different fits as far as tightness and distance from wrist! Nothing works! It literally says my resting heart rate is 48-50 bpm which unrealistic and when im running or strength training it never goes above 145 bpm!
