Q: Does this watch have a curling sport option for a workout?
submitted by Susan - 21 days ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6.
The Garmin vívoactive 6 (released in 2025) does not include a native, preloaded "Curling" activity profile out of the box. However, you can still track your curling sessions quite effectively using one of the following methods:
1. Use a Third-Party App (Recommended)
The most accurate way to track curling is through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. There is a highly-rated app specifically named "Curling" (developed by pmitchell) that is compatible with the vívoactive 6.
What it tracks: It specifically counts brush strokes using the watch's accelerometer.
Special features: It includes a stopwatch for sweepers to measure backline-to-hog split times and provides estimates for where the rock will stop.
Data: It logs the activity as a "Curling" session in your Garmin Connect history rather than a generic workout.
2. Create a Custom "Curling" Profile
If you don't want to download a third-party app, you can create a custom activity on the watch itself:
Press the Action button (top right) and select Add+.
Choose Other or Winter Sports as a template.
Name the activity "Curling."
Settings: I recommend turning GPS Off (since curling is indoors) and setting a data field for Heart Rate and Elapsed Time.
Note: This will track your heart rate and calories, but it won't count your sweeping strokes like the specialized app will.
3. Use the "Ice Skating" Profile
The vívoactive 6 comes with a preloaded Ice Skating profile. While it’s intended for skating, it uses the correct indoor environment settings (GPS off by default) and logic for ice-based movement. You can simply rename the activity to "Curling" in the Garmin Connect app after you finish.

Q: Can the band be changed out to a metal band?
submitted by KelNel6178 - 2 months ago
A: Hi, thank you for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6.
Yes, the band on the Garmin Vivoactive 6 can be changed out to a metal band, as it uses a standard 20mm wide, quick-release mechanism. Many third-party metal bands are available that are specifically compatible with this model.

Q: Can this watch sync to the Fiton app?
submitted by Edith - 3 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6.
Yes, the Garmin vivoactive 6 can sync with the FitOn app, but it requires a two-step process involving the Garmin ecosystem.
Garmin does not typically allow third-party apps to access data directly from the watch itself; the data must flow through the Garmin Connect service first.
If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does this smartwatch track heart rate? Does it have afib detection? Can it run a EKG? Thanks
submitted by Kali - 3 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Quikcell Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Apple iPhone 15
This Smart Watch has comprehensive heart rate tracking, but it does not include the hardware for EKG/ECG functionality. Here is some more information on the features you asked about:
Track Heart Rate: YES. It uses Garmin's optical heart rate sensor (Elevate V4) to track your heart rate 24/7, including during exercise and rest. It also provides abnormal heart rate alerts (high or low) when resting.
AFib Detection: NO (Not via EKG/ECG). It can alert you to abnormal heart rates, but it does not have the capability to run an on-demand Electrocardiogram (ECG) test needed for specific Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) detection.
Run an EKG/ECG: NO. This watch does not have the necessary hardware (the metal sensor on the bezel or case) to record a single-lead EKG.
If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

submitted by Golfman - 5 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 6
Yes, the Garmin vívoactive 6 has a built-in golf mode for tracking your rounds, including features like hazards, distance to the green, and scorekeeping. You can download courses to the device and use the companion Garmin Golf app to view statistics, compete with other golfers on leaderboards, and even access green contour data with a membership.

Q: Does this watch let you answer phone calls on it or just notify you that a call is coming in? Also, it let you download music from YouTube Music?
submitted by Lindsay - 5 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about the Garmin vivoactive 6
The Garmin vivoactive 6 does not have a built-in microphone or speaker. Notifications Only: The watch will notify you that a call is coming in by displaying the caller's name or number. Accept or Decline: You can choose to accept or decline the call from the watch, but to actually talk to the person, you must use your connected smartphone. Text Replies: On a connected Android phone, you can decline a call and send a pre-written text message reply from the watch. This feature is not available for iPhones. The Garmin vivoactive 6 does let you download music from YouTube Music.
If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day between 7 am and 11 pm CST.

Way better than Apple Watch
I went the vivoactive 6 from an Apple Watch and will never go back. A much less invasive interaction with this watch but still get text and phone call alerts. Much better option.

Perfect balanced fitness watch
I bought this maybe 2 months ago and the watch has been great. I've used this for my pool swims at the gym. I'm able to see my steps and wear when I sleep without even noticing it.

Great Upgrade!
I had a Vivo Active 3 for the past 5 years and upgraded when the watch began to loose full charge by the end of the day. The Vivo Active 6 has been an amazing upgrade with new features and even more accurate health stats. Everything I loved about Garmin watches is even better on the 6 and would highly recommend you update if it's been a few years. Well worth the value!

Regretting my disappointment
Purchased on line to upgrade my vivoactive 3 music and was initially disappointed. 1st issue was was low light screen auto dimming. My vision is not great without readers and could not see much in low light without first finding my glasses or a light source to brighten the display. Somehow navigating from apps to widgets and systems settings seemed less intuitive than the vivo 3 but honestly I didn't give it much of a chance. I decided that I wanted a bigger screen as well so have spent too much time sifting through watch reviews and now wish I'd kept the vivo 6. Right tech at a good price.

Get the watch, You won’t be disappointed
Upgraded a month ago, have been using Vivoactive watches for past 6 years. The new amloed screen and additional information/tracking details is top notch. Super beneficial when trying to improve life from all angles. I tried an Apple Watch short time and was glad to return to my Garmin. Fit is great, screen size is universal and not over-sized for someone with a smaller wrist.

Something for everybody
Certainly more features than I will ever use. You can customize it to fit your routine. However on the negative side you can not set your date of birth which is a needed component for determining your fitness age something important for older users. You have to contact Garmin to be able to enter the info. I did contact Garmin and they were very nice and said I would be able to enter the info later in the day - it’s now 6 days later and I guess I will have to contact them again - very inconvenient. Otherwise a nice watch.

Not as easy as the Apple Watch
My husband bought this for me, but I wish I’d done some research beforehand. It’s not as intuitive as my old Apple Watch and doesn’t sync with my phone as easily. The battery is much better and it’s good for swimming but every other feature isn’t as easily accessible.

Good fitness tracker
The watch is aesthetically pleasing. Super lightweight. An excellent option for some. I had just over two weeks with the watch, wearing it and training daily. After only one day I knew it wasn’t for me. It lacks essential features for my lifestyle, no altimeter and it feels to delicate. I spent every day I had with it worried I was going to damage the bezel or glass. I returned the Vivoactive 6 for an Instinct 3 which I feel will be a more appropriate fit for my lifestyle and training regimen. The vivoactive 6 is a beautiful watch that IMO belongs with the yoga/aerobics crowd. Not for those who engage in heavy training and rugged outdoor activities.

Great watch
I bought the vivoactive 6 to replace a Garmin vivosmart fitness band. It is working out great, I have just started to explore all of the features. Was a bit hesitant to get a rechargeable watch but the battery lasts a lot longer than I expected and it recharges faster than I thought it would.

Great Health Features
I bought this about a month ago to help improve my overall health. I felt like the garmin watch was able to provide me more health data than my Apple Watch could provide! So far I been really enjoying the he health features and the gps during runs. It’s been interesting seeing all the features to figure how to decrease stress levels and improve overall cardiovascular health
