A: My husband bought a forerunner 165 from Best Buy and it came with a cord to charge it but no cube. I’m assuming this one will be the same, cord only no cube.

The AMOL Display hard to read in bright sunlight.
My Forerunner 245 battery is fading so I replaced it with the 165. The 245 Sunlight-visible display works much better when bike riding in the sun. The AMOL display is nice indoors but is lacking outside on a bright day. I was also disappointed that the 165 did not have an indoor rowing app like the 245.

Decent running watch, but too many features.
Got this watch from Garmin (25% disc) to replace my broken 235, which I loved. This 165 is a decent running watch, but has too many ‘glitzey’ features that are an absolute pain to disable for a runner. It’s trying to be an Apple Watch. I have been running marathons for 45yrs, and don’t need a recovery suggestion or being asked ‘how do I feel’ after the workout. I just want to save my run, and go shower. Also, the default screen setting of blank & only lighting up when you twist your wrist to check time is a terrible feature. Many times while driving or flying as a pilot, I just want to glance at my watch to chk the time & not take my hand off the wheel or yoke. The display & colors are fantastic, but I’d prefer my old 235.

Outclasses my old FR 735XT by miles
I have enjoyed the many, many features of my Fr165 that replaced my old watch, which was a 2016 model. I have had it for two weeks now and it tracks my HR while running far better than the old 735XT ever did. The body battery feature is cool and I enjoy getting my morning report when I first wake up. I am nervous, though, as the watch became nonresponsive when I attempted to get my morning report yesterday, thus the four stars. Hopefully that was just a one-off!

I have been learning the different screens to better understand the all the all the features. Since I am an older person, I am slowly figuring it out. Mainly I use it for running and biking. After completing each event/outing, I found out that there were a few more things I needed to do before it was saving the results.

Simplistic and accurate
Bought my Garmin FR165 around 2 months ago and have loved it ever since. To costumize the face to show the data I look for (steps, run, weather)... and so many other options is so helpful. The accuracy is on point. It feels durable and looks great, even on a night out. As a beginner (runner), this is all I need to keep me honest and on schedule with my runs.

Nice band. Charges fast and holds it for days. Still trying to figure out some features. Was expecting more health readings, like pulse ox. Instructions are minimal.

One size doesn't fit all
After doing research on which smart watch to purchase I was excited about my decision to purchase a Forerunner 165, but in taking it out of the box and discovering that the watch band was so small, it fit on the last notch. I'm not sure if this is intentional so you buy additional accessories, but I'm rethinking my decision and it might be a return. It's unfortunate because I use a Garmin cycling computer and appreciate the data available after my rides and was hoping to enhance it with a Garmin watch.

Phenomenal Training Plans
I got this watch a month ago, and I'm really impressed with its ability to adapt the running plan to how I'm doing. It changes the pace and goals based on sleep and what it records. In this short time, Garmin has helped me to realize that I can run faster and farther than I realized I could. I watched a YouTube tutorial to set the watch up and haven't looked back. 5/5 recommend! If you're on the fence, this watch is absolutely worth it!
