Loaded with Features
I am about a month in to wearing this. I am updating from a Forerunner 955. The 970 touch screen is much more sensitive. That is a complaint for me. Wearing in the shower or during the day and anything that touches the watch will light up the screen or change settings. You have to lock the screen or disable it with a quick key. Note it is disabled during an event (which is good). The second thing I noticed the most is how loud the speaker is with auto lap. During running and biking. I have not found a way to turn the volume down. It still startles me if I am not paying close attention. If you have done some research, the battery doesn't last as long as the 955, but even the 970 has plenty of battery for many days without charging. I have not used this in the direct sunlight much (winter on the east coast). I am interested to see how this display handles in the sun with an AMOLED display. This is different from the 955 with a MIP display. It has many features I have not used. I am not a big music fan while I am training. I would rather pay attention to my surroundings and my heath (HR, pace, power, etc.). I could also live without the microphone. I am using this watch more for sports, racing, and fitness. These additional openings (Speaker and Microphone), make me wonder how well it will last swimming and racing Triathlons. Both big on my list. Time will tell.

Fantastic Watch - Worth the price!
As someone who came from an Apple Watch Ultra and has been using AWs since their release, this upgrade is phenomenal. I train 5-6 times per week, each workout at least being an hour. I also track my sleep. This watch can handle it all! The battery life is unmatched and the training metrics and very in depth and informative. My only caveat is that the set up and usage has a bit of a learning curve but it is manageable and there are plenty of tutorials online.

Great training watch
I bought this watch 3 weeks ago. At first, I was so confused by the Garmin Connect App, and I was not sure I was happy with that change (I never had a Garmin before). But once I set up the watch and the app, everything was way easier. I like the watch so much, the buttons are great, especially for training in the cold with gloves. I am a marathon runner, and the stats and info this watch gives you about your training are beyond expectations. I am getting into the ultra running world and I am so happy to have made the move to garmin for this adventure !

Great upgrade from 955
I upgraded from a 955 which was having serious elevation sensor issues so my comments are mostly focused on the differences to that model. I don't notice any difference in the size and weight. It still slides under long sleeve shirts and jackets fairly easily and the green edge highlight on the otherwise all-black watch is a nice design look. The 970 is a lot better at tracking elevation which I find important for my mountain adventures and floor climbing activities. The new display is a lot easier to read than the 955 (especially maps but also smaller text on the main display) and touch control seems to work better as well. The user interface has some subtle differences from the 955 and I'm still trying to figure out how to change some settings. Weather seems to be easier to access than the 955. The upgrade from 955 to 970 was fairly seamless and it ported all my Explore account settings for the most part. The new LED light is very handy and I utilized it on a late night return summiting McHenry peak.

Forerunner never disappoints
I’ve been using the Forerunner 970 for about 2 weeks now and it has yet to disappoint. I love the size of the watch face and how vibrant the screen is. The features I was most looking forward to was the Training status and running tolerance which aside from the actual functions is my most looked at information. Overall I love this watch but I gave it 4 stars because of the watch band. I’m 5’6 with an athletic build and the band is way too long. So the tail end of the band is always sticking out, it’s annoying and looks tacky. I’m also in between loop sizes so my watch is either too tight on my wrist or too loose (also annoying). It would be nice to have band size options available during initial purchase. Factoring in the price and features I’d recommend this watch for athletes who enjoy the additional information & those looking to do a triathlon (triathlon training plans available on this model).

Good looking sturdy watch
I loved this watch, but I did not know how to use it. They’re open to speak to you on the phone between eight and five however that was not convenient for me and after many half hour visits, it came to my attention. I needed many many more to understand how to use this watch. So bottom line I loved the watch and would’ve loved to learn how to use the watch but was not able to so I returned it

Great Watch
purchased this watch after wanting it since it’s release. Prior to this watch I would use an Apple Watch Ultra 2. The battery life on the forerunner is amazing compared to the Apple Watch which needed to be charged every night. I use my watch mainly for tracking my runs and also triathlon training. 10/10 features for what I use it for.

Incredible!
I bought this watch about a month ago, upgrading from the venu 3S and I'm so happy I did. There are so many things I could highlight about this watch, from the AMOLED screen, to the sleep tracking but the thing I love most is the Garmin coach. It genuinely feels like I have a 'coach' when following the running plan - it takes into account my sleep, additional workouts and automatically updates my scheduled workouts. I have also loved the performance score even more, it's allowed me to slow down and really enjoy the training process! First forerunner but definitely not my last!!

Well, this watch is very attractive and sturdy, but I had no idea how to use it and there’s no body to help you use it unless you can call them while you’re at work Monday through Friday

Great Watch!
I replaced my Garmin Forerunner 935 with the Garmin Forerunner 970 and LOVE it! There are a lot of improvements in the 970, clear readable screen, bright letters and it functions great. The biggest selling feature for me is the battery life of 15 days. I share that information with my other friends who have Apple watches and other devices, and they can't believe the battery life of this Garmin 970 watch. I wear this watch 24/7 even in the ocean/pool. I really love this watch and it does what I want it to do.

My favorite running watch eve
I’ve been using the Forerunner 970 for a while now, and it’s honestly a game changer. The GPS is super accurate, heart rate and training data are spot on, and I love how detailed the recovery and performance insights are. The screen is bright and easy to read, even on sunny runs, and the battery life easily lasts through long training weeks. It’s comfortable, lightweight, and perfect for serious runners who care about data and design. Definitely worth it.

Great features • Poor battery life
Overall, this is a great watch—just like its predecessors. Unfortunately, the battery life doesn’t live up to expectations. It’s advertised to last 17 days, but I’ve never managed more than 7 before needing to recharge—or worse, it randomly dies with over 10% remaining (which has happened several times on the trail). I’ve even turned off multiple features, but it hasn’t made much difference in battery performance.

We appreciate your review! The battery life on the Forerunner 970 varies depending on what features are being used on the watch, and how often. Please review the tips in the articles below, as well as the suggestions in the owner's manual, and make any necessary changes to see if that improves things. In particular, I recommend taking a look at your Connect IQ app/watch face usage, GPS activities, and Pulse Ox use: • Why Is the Battery of My Garmin Watch Draining Faster Than Expected?: http://ms.spr.ly/6427tEiF1 • Tips for Maximizing the Battery Life: http://ms.spr.ly/6428tEiFG • Forerunner 970 Battery Life Assumptions: http://ms.spr.ly/6429tEiFH If you continue to have trouble, Garmin Support is happy to help! Great multi sport and smart watch for athletes
The forerunner 970 is a great watch with lots of great quality of life features focused on serious athletes. I have really liked the speaker which allows me to hear directions and even voice bots from people tracking my ride, as long as I am going slow enough. This watch is not meant for beginners it is focused on lots of data for more advanced athletes to use. I would recommend taking the time to set it up how you want to use it.

Great Running Watch
The Garmin Forerunner 970 excels with its exceptional battery life, lightweight design, and intuitive mapping features. My previous watch, the Instinct 2S, couldn't even make it through one of my ultramarathons before dying on me. I needed something with reliable endurance and the durability to handle my demanding workday—and this one delivers on both fronts. I've been pleasantly surprised by its performance overall. Highly recommend it to any serious runner or adventurer.
