I was very nervous to upgrade my watch since I had the Garmin forerunner 35 for over 6 years; however I am very glad that I did! I love how light the watch is and I feel like it has all the features plus the battery life is sufficient for races under 100 miles. I definitely recommend, it is also very intuitive to use!

I am coming from the 965 and all of the reviews said that it was an incremental update and not worth buying from the 965. However, I will say that what they updated makes this watch so much better than my 965. The screen in more responsive, the flashlight is a true game changer and the microphone and speaker are fun to have. I do not love the speaker tone, which sounds a little like Mario getting a coin, but I assume you'll be able to customize the sound to whatever you want to hear when it laps. All in all it's a typical high quality Garmin watch that tracks workout gloriously. This watch even knows when you're on a track and gives you more precise data than GPS alone. I would say that if you run in lane 6 that it still tracks like you're in lane 1 which can be a little annoying, but I still need to do more research about this. Best Garmin watch I have owned to date and there have been a bunch before this! Highly recommend.

Hi there, you do have the ability to change the lane in your activity so it will properly track the correct lane! http://ms.spr.ly/6424sQNam As for the sound, we are unable to change it, but that is a great idea. I would recommend that you submit an ideas form, so we are able to pass that on to our development team! garmin.com/ideas

Even it’s a great watch and has great features, the watch has an operational issue, once I started to sweat the screen goes blurry for about 2min or more then goes back to normal.

Replaces my Fenix 6S Pro which served me well for years until it didn’t (gps got wonky) and was out of warranty and settings tinkering didn’t fix the jumpy recordings (location and pace). This beast of a watch works like a charm. It has all the bells and whistles, all of which are FABULOUS. The most underrated feature is the light. I thought it was totally lame, and use it several times per week. I got the white watch with yellow peakaboo band. I was thought it might look funky, which I was ok with. It looks GREAT for daily wear to work- I like to keep my looks professional and manicured. It doesn’t really show its funky vibe to anyone other than me. I am ROUGH on my gear- I wear my watch 24/7 except charging. I wear it running, throwing around the kids soccer gear, through home projects, trail running. It looks gorgeous. The white still is white and not grimy.

I've had my FR970 for just under a month; having upgrading from my FR735XT. Firstly the upgrade to a AMOLED screen is dramatic. The contrast, black levels, colors, and brightness are awesome. The user interface is solid, but I find there are too many submenus. A GUI with more shortcuts would make navigating a bit easier. The sheer number of metrics this watch tracks are impressive, although I personally do not see the need for so much data. The build of the FR970 seems better than my old FR735XT, but I find it too early to judge durability. So far, so good!

This is a great watch with some more upgrades than I had on my Forerunner 955. I, did notice, the battery life doesn't even make it 15 days.

I purchased this device over 2 weeks ago and am very impressed with all of the features. The screen is amazingly clear and easy to read. Garmin's website was extremely helpful and setting up the data screens with my preferences. Very happy that I spent the addition money for the 970.

Top-tier performance watch for serious athletes The Garmin Forerunner 970 is an exceptional upgrade, offering ultra-accurate GPS, advanced training metrics, and a bright, responsive AMOLED display. Battery life is outstanding even with heavy use, and the added recovery and readiness tracking features are genuinely helpful. It’s lightweight and comfortable enough for all-day wear, with a sleek design that doesn’t scream "sports watch." If you’re serious about running or triathlon training, this is easily one of the best tools out there.

Ive had the Forerunner for less than 2 months. It replaces my Fitbit and Samsung watch.. Im hoping it will help improve my walk/run program. There is a learning curve with this watch. I find myself in areas I dont want to be in, it's quite difficult to get back to the home screen, to see the simple time. I wear my watch to bed and red light came on, after pushing all my buttons there was a blu triangle. I was able to power down watch, turn it on again viola normal time. I need the Forerunner cliff notes.

I lost my Forerunner 955 while kayaking. This presented the opportunity for a new watch that was not needed prior as the 955 is a great watch. I looked at all Garmins and it came down to the Finix 8 and Forerunner 970. The 970 won out on features I wanted, weight, and lower price. I am thrilled by this thing. Super bright display, many new features (Flashlight is awesome), and long battery life. I recommend the Forerunner 970 highly.

I bought the Forerunner 970 after having the 965 for 2 years - I love it! The flashlight is great for night runs and the upgrades from the 965 are awesome. I've had 5 Forerunners over the last 11 years (since High School XC) and they keep getting better! Perfect for my gym workouts, track workouts and of course, long distance running!

I finally upgraded my trusty old FR55 to the FR970 and I'm happy with my purchase so far. The customization options can be a little unintuitive and daunting, but if you put in the effort to learn where everything is and set up the watch how you want it, it becomes quite easy to use. I'm enjoying the new health and performance metrics that weren't available to me earlier. The GPS and HR accuracy also seems to be a big improvement. I was worried about the battery life but this seems to last just as long if not longer than my old FR55.

Bought almost a month ago, bounced between the Fenix 8 and Forerunner. Ended up with the Forerunner 970, 16 days of battery without using GPS. Highly recommended watching YouTube videos to learn about all of its features.

Fantastic watch; extremely accurate and great battery life. The stock rubber wrist strap is pretty uncomfortable and leaves marks all over my wrist. Fortunately, it was easy to swap out with the Nylon Ultrafit band which is infinitely better. Most of the features of the watch go way beyond most people's expertise, which is very appreciated. I suggest getting additional watch bands, and really diving into the settings for customization.

There is probably so much more this watch can do that I have to learn, but so far it’s amazing. So easy to see and hear updates while out. Very user friendly, easy connectivity and sooooo pretty!!
