I’ve owned the 970 for a couple of weeks and, so far, I’m impressed. The screen is very readable even under the brightest sunlight. The sensors are much improved over the prior generation. And battery life is as good as advertised. It also looks great!
LOVE my new Garmin

Great watch. Great for workout, running, hiking, and all the other health features, and health tracking. Lacks some of the smartwatch features that come with the Apple Watch. I love the sleep tracking and other features that track overall health and energy levels. I would highly recommend.
Love it! Wishing it was offered in 43mm case.

Just a little too big but I love all of the features. Also love how comfortable is was and lightweight. Hoping Garmin offers this premium forerunner in a 43mm case soon. I have the Fenix 6s now but it feels a little heavy but I need the durability for work since I'm always banging the case on things.
Everything I wanted and more!

I recently switched from an Apple Watch to the Garmin Forerunner 970, and after a few weeks of using it, I’ll never look back. It’s definitely a shift if you’re used to Apple, but the level of detail and insight this watch provides—especially for training—is next level. It tracks everything so accurately, from runs to hikes to gym sessions, biking, and even sleep. Despite being packed with tech, it’s super lightweight and comfortable—I even forget I’m wearing it overnight. The flashlight feature is a surprisingly handy bonus, and I use it way more than I expected. The only downside is that the battery seems to drain a bit faster than some other Garmin models (so I’ve been told), but considering all the features packed into this watch, it makes sense. If you’re serious about running or just lead an active lifestyle, I highly recommend the Forerunner 970. It’s a powerhouse!!

It seems as though I’ve had more Garmin watches than you can shake a stick at, starting way back with the 405! I gravitated towards the Vivo Actives and Venus, but their battery life is trash. I never came close to the time frame they gave for those watches before charging and my Venu 2+ had to be charged daily. Now, I am a heavy user. I turn ever feature on and run them 24/7. I don’t own a car, so I using gps constantly as well as heart hate broadcasting and this watch just goes and goes and goes! It easily lasts me 7-9 days before it needs charged and has all the features of the smartwatch style watches like the Venu. Screen is insanely beautiful and the watch is just awesome to wear! Great job Garmin!

Owned it for 3 weeks, and still trying to figure it out. It does many things, however not the easiest to navigate. Needs to be more user friendly. Instructions are limited.

There have been a lot of complaints due to people reporting phantom touches and the watch/device scrolling on its own. However, it’s been working pretty good for me. I have only noticed odd functioning in the shower—it actually just made a phone call today in the shower. I wear the watch with the face on the inside of my wrist so I suspect that it my have touched my body somewhere a few times essentially “touching” the screen. I have only used the device for running so far and am sort of concerned about using it for swimming.

I wanted to switch up from my Epix pro gen 2 because of size, weight etc. I researched many and settled on trying the Forerunner 970 - Meets all my expectations. Just a nicer, more subtle looking watch.

I like the look of the watch. It seems to be a bit heavier than my previous Forerunner 955. I have not had the opportunity to fully explore all the features. I was quite disappointed a couple of swims when the watch was way off on the lap counts. That had not happened to me with any of my previous Forerunners. Today I simulated a triathlon to practice for a real one next week and it worked great. I disconnected the auto detection of transition because it has never worked well for me. GPS syncs very quickly. Hiking works great; it finds the trails! I like the music feature; I don’t need to bring the phone to listen to music.
OK not great

Coming from the Forerunner 965 I only upgraded to the 970 Because of the new HR sensors that the 970 has the 965 was not so accurate and when your Training for Ironman its mainly Zone 2 and how can you measure that if the HR isn't accurate So I upgraded to the 970 and I hate to say this but the HR isn't accurate on this either maybe there will be an update to make it more accurate but very disappointed that I spent the money and it really was not necessary

I purchased the 970 a month ago and I had the Venu 2s. The only thing I do not like is the golf app it’s not as easy to use and when I keep score it is not as easy to use as the Venu was. I’ve call Garmin and it’s works in my office but not on the golf course. I would have thought it would have been better as it’s 4 years newer. It’s a better overall watch but I was expecting a little more.

I started with the Garmin Foreunner 305 decades ago, and of late had been using the 630. The 970 is a major upgrade in functionality and utility. It is packed with features and tools that will really improve your running. Paired with GarminConnect, it does it all and then some. So much, in fact, that I had to download the full manual (164 pages!) to make sure I wouldn't miss anything.

Long time Apple user but wanted more from tracking real workouts. This watch delivers on that plus great sleep tracking. I also have had an oura and this lined up quite close for me on that as well. Recommend if you are a triathlete or serious runner. If you aren’t, probably don’t need this much power.

Even though this is a brand new watch, it runs very smoothly and with very few bugs. But most important, it has a very brilliant display. Which is essential if a watch is touted as an outdoor fitness watch. Best Garmin so far.

Bought this to replace my forerunner 645. The 47 mm screen is bright and looks great. I love the flashlight on the watch and use it all the time. Solid training watch and I will probably get something similar once this watch wears out.

Really enjoying the flashlight feature for morning and night runs. The screen, sound and overall quality is terrific. The morning reporting really lets me know how prepped I am for the day and what to be mindful of.
