Q: Does the watch count steps while pushing a stroller?

submitted by Shelly - 15 days ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin Vivoactive 5 Smartwatch Black and Slate No, the Garmin Vivoactive 5 generally won't count steps accurately while pushing a stroller because step tracking relies on arm movement, which is restricted when holding the stroller handle, though Garmin suggests carrying it in a pocket or on your ankle as workarounds. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does it count steps while pushing a stroller or shopping cart?

submitted by Shelly - 23 days ago
  • A: Hi, thank you for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 5. No, the Garmin vívoactive 5 (and other Garmins) generally won't count steps accurately while pushing a stroller or shopping cart because it relies on arm movement, which is restricted during these activities, leading to very low or missed step counts. To get credit for steps, you can put the watch in your pocket, wear it on your ankle, or push the stroller/cart with only one hand to allow the other arm (with the watch) some movement. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does this track Blood Pressure?

submitted by Tony - 2 months ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Garmin vivoactive 5 The Garmin Vivoactive 5 does not track blood pressure directly. Wonderful

I bought this watch after having the Venu 3. This one seemed to be a better fit for me. I am a health and PE teacher and I enjoy running. This watch is perfect for me and my daily needs. Love the size and display. This watch is much thinner than the Venu which I prefer. Additionally, the band on this watch does not irritate my skin. The Venu band severely irritated my skin.

    Great watch and price!

I'm so picky but after trying the Apple watch Series 9, Garmin Vivoactive 6, Garmin Venu 3S, the Vivoactive 5 is perfect for me. It does what the Vivoactive 6 does but not as much storage capacity, which I really don't need. And the price is excellent!

I love Garmin so much that I bought another!

I bought my vivoactive 5 the end of December as a Christmas gift to me. I had a venue square which I had gotten December of 2021. The venue square was not giving me any issues, I just wanted the vivoactive 5 for some features that the venue didn't have. I'm still learning the features of the vivoactive but I'm very happy with my new watch. I gave my daughter the venue square, she's enjoying it as much as i did.

I absolutely love this device :)

I just switched from an Apple Watch 9 and i find everything about the Garmin experience to be better. I love the fact I can see everything on my watch, the glances are wonderful ! The sleep tracking is superior, the challenge and badges are so fun in comparison. The body battery and stress is so helpful ! I love the morning report !!! Overall this is a wonderful device, easy to use, with a wealth of helpful information.

    Great battery life

I have had my vivoactive 5 for two weeks now. I simply love it. I was looking for a watch that had a longer battery life than my Lily 2 classic. (which I loved). I get 9 days before I have to charge. Still learning how to use all the features. Ony thing I really not keen on is the band. But easy to change.

    Happy so far

I used a vivoactive 4 for quite a few years and I was overall happy with it. I have been looking at the 5 for months and my wife bought one for me for Christmas. There is a bit of a learning curve, perhaps slightly frustrating at times but now that I've worked through that, actually prefer the interface. I still occasionally forget how to do things like advance set in a work workout. I did just notice a couple scratches on edge of the bezel and crystal. I don't think I am particularly hard on it wearing it exclusively on the back of my wrist, where I often (especially in the beginning) work the 4 on the inside of my wrist, where I believe it was more at risk of being knocked around. I think the crystal was better protected by the bezel, so I may need to be more aware of what I may be doing to cause the scratches. My wife has frequent problems with shut downs on here Watch from a competitor, when we take a boxing class which I never experienced with the 4 or 5 Garmin. I have suggested she talk to others in the class about her experience. Overall, I would purchase again.

    (no review title)

Great watch for someone like me who appreciates the simple aesthetic and design but also wants a watch that accurately tracks mileage. I switched to this watch from an Apple Watch and it’s safe to say I’m never going back. The numbers and data this watch collects seems very accurate and has a seem less connection to strava. This is great for a runner who wants the stats but not great for someone who wants to know every little thing going on in their body.

    Where are the elevation fields

80% of the reason I purchased a Garmin watch was to track elevation. The elevation fields are not available on the Vivoactive 5 like the were on the vivoactive 4. The other 20% is to track distance, which I can confirm this watch does still do :(

I've been wearing for a month & have been learning something new everyday. Battery life is the best feature as it replaced my much loved Viactve 3 which could no longer hold a charge long enough to complete 4 hour activity. Sleep score/coach & reminders to get active are most useful in addition to body battery score.
