Setup was quick and easy. Wireless backhaul is great and using the 2.5 connection on one of the satellites to my PC I am getting close to wired speeds (over the backhaul and to the internet) on my 1gb fiber connection. Improvements could be made to the documentation for more advanced setup needs, availability of a wall mount rather than needing to buy a 3rd party one, having all of the LAN ports be 2.5 (or better) rather than 1 Gb (so a NAS could take advantage of the backhaul speeds on the primary router), VLAN to include some wired ports (not just a guest SSID). Definitely a good value proposition and works well for my needs. Would purchase again.

These mesh routers worked great for the first 6 months, but then the mesh points stopped connecting all together. WiFi would drop regularly and the only way to get it back was to open the app. Doesn't help that ASUS just had a massive hack.

A generally good system which benefits greatly by having the mesh system integrated into it. This avoids having to shift from one router to another as one moves about the house or the building. It is not easy to make adjustments to the system, such as turning off either the 5G or the 2.4 G aspect. It can be done, but it is not intuitive.

Great coverage throughout household. Easy installation. When attempting to register product online it was rejected due to incorrect serial number. Called support and was advised SN would not be the one on the bottom of the device but would be a common serial number that would be located on the box due to this being a mesh system. Had to send them proof of purchase receipt and picture of box showing serial information. Support registered product for me using the same SN I provided when trying to register online. There was no common SN. Also had question about traffic I was seeing on devices. Was told this was download and upload speed. No……it is not. So bottom line is good system but unreliable support

XT8s vs AC1300 Router/Nodes

I bought these to improve my AImesh network in a 3 story home that sends signal across the street to a guest house. My original setup was using two AC1300 routers that sent the signal across the street. I had a separate Samsung Connect Home mesh network to cover the rest of the house. Over the years I have been dealing with brief drops in connection and dropped calls (as we rely on wifi phone assist since we are in an area of very weak cellular signal). Finally decided to deal with it.. Immediately looked at signal interference as the two routers were close to each other. Removed the Samsung and replaced them with the zenwifi. Definite improvement. Now came to playing with placement and which to place as router leaving others as nodes. Since the ac1300 was already placed as router, I added the xt8s as nodes. BEAUTIFUL. Did speed tests around the house and across the street. I tested both 2.4 and 5ghz signals. Very pleased. Then, after reading (and using common sense) I placed the newer XT8 as router and made all other nodes. To my dismay, the signal strength dropped significantly and across the street, the guest house was almost unusable. I am assuming this is because external antennas are more powerful than internal antennas. Here is another shocker, with the XT8 as the router, my signal strength around the house was also weaker. That was even testing right beside the device. (I challenge Asus to give me a possible explanation for that one). So, after suffering through several hours of testing and crying at the thought of undoing all my hard work, I went back to my original setup with the ac1300 as primary. Signal strength is spectacular all around the house as well as across the street stronger than it has ever seen. (Obviously I never knew what a bad idea it was to have two routers competing for the same signals. Lesson learned. Love the XT8s as nodes!!!!

I am thrilled with the 2 pack system I purchased. I had a competitor's product that should be used like its name, as TP. Nonetheless, the Asus product is always reliable, always available, no jitter or breakup signals, and has more configuration options than ever expected. I am thrilled with this product.

This unit is a little pricey, but it is worth every penny. Get the app and do all the original setup, then move on to the web UI to get into the advanced configuration which is truly remarkable in terms of included, free features. Very impressive. Great job ASUS.

The single router provided by cable service did not cover iur 2400 sq ft house well. Two ASUS units gave complete coverage extending to the deck. The units were easy to set up. The app is helpful in monitoring traffic.

Working great so far! Very happy to see significantly better access in my walkout basement area. With my previous single-router system on the main level of the home, I had dead spots and/or poor wifi connectivity in parts of my walkout basement. With the ASUS ZenWiFi mesh router, I now have extremely fast performance throughout my entire basement area. Speeds are generally faster in other areas of the 2-story walkout basement home also.

Signal strong and uniform through 3200’ house and outside, through hurricane glass and concrete walls, across the pool and to the far side of the property. Previous routers had problems getting signal outside. I was considering hiring electrician to install a hard-wired outdoor connection point. A friend suggested this tri-band. This solved all with less cost and disruption. Wish I had done this years ago.
Great system if you don’t need WIFI 7.

These units could not have been more easy to set up. The App is quite intuitive and the operation has been seamless. I was tired of my Orbi mesh units…they needed reset nearly every week and I couldn’t get another satellite to add even with their technical assistant on the line. The Orbi’s did have slightly larger range then these, but I added a second satellite is minutes and have full coverage now. My system is regularly running 200mps down and 30mps up…perfect for this families needs.
