Q: We have tried to set the number of rings to the maximum of 6 using the manual but the phone defaults to 3 rings. Also we are unable to get the base unit answering system to work.

submitted by OnTargetGuy - 3 months ago
  • A: Hi OnTargetGuy, thanks for reaching out about AT&T DLP7236 3 Handset Cordless Phone: Dual-Line, Caller ID, 1.9 GHz Frequency. If the base unit's answering system isn't working at all, here are the common troubleshooting steps: Is it ON? On the base unit, make sure the ANSWER ON button is illuminated or indicates it's active. Press it to toggle it On/Off and ensure it's On. You should hear a confirmation message like "Calls will be answered." Power and Phone Line Connection: Double-check that the telephone base is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet (not one controlled by a wall switch). Ensure the telephone line cord is firmly plugged into the base and into your wall telephone jack. Conflicting Answering Systems: Do you have another phone system or device (e.g., an old answering machine, or a different corded phone with an answering system) connected to the same phone line? If so, only one answering system should be active on the line to avoid conflicts. Turn off or disconnect any other answering systems. Message Capacity Full: Even if it's not working, check if the system believes its message capacity is full. Try deleting all old messages from the answering system. (Usually, there's a "Delete All" option in the answering system menu or by pressing a "Delete" button twice when idle). Soft Reset the Base: Unplug the power adapter from the telephone base. Wait for a few minutes (at least 5-10 seconds, but a minute is safer). Plug the power adapter back into the telephone base. This can often resolve minor software glitches. Set the day and time if prompted. Outgoing Announcement: Does the system play your greeting but then not record? This sometimes happens if it's in an "announce only" mode or if the recording time is set to minimum. Check the answering system settings for "Outgoing Announcement" and ensure it's not set to announce-only, and that the "Message Recording Time" is set appropriately (e.g., 60 seconds or unlimited). You can also try recording a new outgoing announcement. Voicemail Conflict (again): As mentioned above, if your provider's voicemail is picking up too quickly, your base unit's answering system might never get a chance to engage. Ensure your base unit's ring count is set lower than your provider's voicemail. If you try all these steps and the issue persists, it might indicate a defect with the base unit's answering system, and you may need to contact AT&T/VTech customer support or consider a replacement. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Is it compatible with v tech so I can have 4 phones throughout house?

submitted by Want to add to current - 3 months ago
  • A: Hi Want to add to current, thanks for reaching out about AT&T DLP7236 3 Handset Cordless Phone: Dual-Line, Caller ID, 1.9 GHz Frequency. While you might be able to register a VTech handset to your AT&T DLP7236 base, it's highly unlikely that you'll get full functionality. You'd probably be limited to just making and receiving calls on that VTech handset, and it might not reliably work with features like intercom or the answering system. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Call block button is a deal breaker.

Too difficult to use. The call block button is too easy for people with low vision to use. We will be returning.

Not for me

Instructions for using the phone are vague. I never figured it out. It’s to be paired with a cell phone. However, the cell phone must be within 15-feet of the phone—what’s the purpose? I just wanted a regular land line.

Don't waste your money on this oroduct!

I purchased these phones mid January and now they are defective. One day I was talking to friends on it just fine and the next day no one can hear me but I can hear them. This is the issue with ALL 3 OF THEM! I’m so frustrated.

Bad echo.

This phone is unusable. There is a very annoying echo when I use the phone. It makes it very difficult for me to hear or to be heard. I expected better from an AT&T phone.

Great Phones

These phones are amazing. Bought for my elderly parents. Set-up did require a little time, but if you careful read the instructions, it’s fine. Connecting a cell phone is the best feature of these phones. This is ideal for elderly parents who do not hear their cell phone ring. When someone calls their cell phone, it rings through these house phones. Blocking spam calls is a great feature.

Fail!

Absolutely a nightmare phone to set up. I’m not a tech expert but I have a fair amount of experience with computers and digital set ups. This hellscaoe of a unit with horrid directions, ridiculous complexity, and an obtuse voice like HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey supposedly aiding you in set up created a two hour nightmare. Once I got it set up I found the buttons very non intuitive and making and receiving a phone call was ridiculously difficult. In addition, the ringtone even with five options and a volume bar set to low was ear splitting and upset my cat (and me) so much that I boxed the whole kit and kaboodle up and boxed it for a return. Complete fail

Options

Too many options, I like the 3 phone deal but it can be confusing with all of the different options.
