Q: When the machine picks up a call, can we hear the caller start talking and pick it up then? or do you have check the machine to see all calls not knowing who has called.

Yes, AT&T DECT 6.0 Cordless Answering Systems almost universally offer a feature called Call Screening. This feature allows you to: Listen to the caller as they leave a message: When the answering machine picks up, you can hear what the caller is saying in real-time through the handset's speaker or the base unit's speaker. Decide to pick up the call: While the caller is leaving their message, if you recognize them or decide you want to talk, you can simply press the "Talk" or "Phone" button on your handset (or the base) to pick up the call and speak directly to them. The answering machine will then stop recording. Let them go to voicemail: If you don't want to talk, you can simply let the machine continue recording the message. Q: Does it have call block?

If you have subscribed to the caller ID service, you can use the call block feature to reject certain calls automatically. The call block list can store up to 20 entries. Automatic call rejection can be applied to: Numbers saved into the call block list and Incoming calls without numbers This feature is only available on the cordless handset. Q: Does this model allow for a personel greeting?

Some information on this from the manual: "The telephone has a default announcement, “Hello. Please leave a message after the tone.” You can use this announcement, or record your own announcement. You can record an announcement up to 90 seconds. The system does not record any announcement shorter than 2 seconds."
