Designed with bright, razor-sharp imagery and a rugged, weatherproof design, the Ares is ready for any condition. This is a fantastic value for this spotting scope, it performs much better than other ones at a similar price point. Edge clarity is impressive, low light glassing into the sunset its very bright when glassing into shade under trees. I prefer the straight spotter so I can switch from binos to spotter without adjusting my tripod. I think to get the most out of it pair it with an Ollin digi scoping adapter and a good tripod like Tricer BC. I have used this to judge bears at 1500 yards and further, extremely clear images even on days with a smoke haze in the air. One thing to note is Ollin does not make an eye piece for this yet, but if you order the Leupold one it will work perfectly.

This spotting scope is fantastic for the price. Image is clear, and feels well made. For the money, you can’t go wrong.
Untouchable in its price range.

I've only had this for about a month now, but it has seen near-daily use. Used for spotting long-range shots (300-900 yards) for everything from .22LR to .308, I have found it to out-perform everything I have seen in its price range, (Vortex, Leupold, and others). Compared head to head with a Swaro it obviously trails behind in clarity, resolution, CA, and build quality but you might be surprised how small the difference is. Any type of product has a point of diminishing returns where spending more money will not equate to a proportional increase in performance and Athlon seems to have perfected this balance. They also have exceptional customer service. Athlon is my go-to recommendation for reasonably priced optics that just plain work.

I was very impressed with the low light capabilities this spotting scope offers. It also has very smooth transitions between magnification ranges.

It gets a 10 because it’s the leading product in its class!!! Need to catch that bull elk working in that drainage ditch slap this Spotting Scope on the Athlon Tripod and get after it! It works fast and clear. I believe all stages of hunters can use this with ease want the best use the best with the Ares G2 High Definition Spotting Scope and tag that Bull or Buck of your dreams. That’s it can’t be any easier .

Scope is crystal clear and can easily spot impact splotches at 600 yards. Very little chromatic abberration all the way to the edgees. Accurate color. Can see mirage and bullet vapor trail. Very suprising for a 65mm compact spotter. Only complaint is that I can seem to remove the eyepiece to swap for the one with the reticle, and there are no instructions that I could find on how to do so.

This has been a fantastic spotting scope. Not the lightest but the size, clarity, and brightness makes up for it. Went side by side with another brand's spotting scope that is at a similar price point and it really stood out on those overcast, rainy, and lowlight situations. Had everyone in my group wanting to look thru my optics!! I've really been impressed with Athlon!!

Great lightweight scope with good edge to edge clarity. Have been using it for scouting for fall season - easy to determine amount of points at 600yds+. Light enough to pack in for the backcountry - mated it to a Davros Head from Spartan Precision Equipment and a Benro carbon fiber tripod. Very stable and easy/fast and especially quiet setup. Beats comparable scopes at similar price point (e.g. Viper 15-45, Bushnell Nitro 15-45, maybe even the Razor, etc.) that I did direct comparisons with. Only con: the case/sleeve for the scope covers the magnification scale and lens caps are okay

Have only used it at home so far. Here are my thoughts: 1) The neoprene case was an after-thought. It was shoved into the box above the foam padding and it does not fit correctly. If the opening fits the focus ring, the end covers the objective. If it fits the objective, you can't focus it. 2) I purchased the 24x ranging eyepiece (It's actually 22x.) To replace the eyepiece, you have to push in and rotate. Neither the scope nor eyepiece documentation include the "push" step. It was only in the online PDF documentation. It was also incredibly difficult to swap eyepieces. I'm not sure how often I will do so. 3) When swapping eyepieces, I noticed a lot of black plastic debris in the scope body. Some of it caused visual artifacts when I used the original zoom eyepiece. Some compressed air solved this, but I recommend all users take apart the scope to check if they also have this debris. So far, the scope seems pretty average, and definitely not "UHD" despite the manufacturers' claims. I will update once I have a chance to stretch its legs at the 1000 yard range.
Great value, good glass and reasonable weight.

Every bit as good as my dads Leup*old that cost twice as much and weighs quite a bit more. Very happy with this spotter for hunting and the range.

This little scope does an excellent job. In my opinion the price is a bargain for the quality you get. Edge to edge clarity through entire magnification range. Focus wheel has almost perfect tension to allow for crisp focus. Not too heavy or bulky. Used many times at the range and in the mountains and would not change anything about it.
Great Scope!

Did a side by side with the similar V****x brand model that was a few hundred more and they looked basically the same. It's still a lower end, budget scope though, so don't expect flawless perfection from it. It's more than capable to carry on hunts, and I don't feel worried about shattering it in the field. I have not found a good, affordable carrying case yet though, so it currently lives in a wool sock.
Worth full retail pricing.

I was first impressed by the scope over the summer when I recieved it, but I wanted to wait to see how it handled hard use over a 14 deer hunt this fall. The scope held together fine and provided crystal clear imagery, I was able to pick out a mountain lion at about 600 yards with it.
