Sophia Loren (Roma, 1934) es una de las actrices más conocidas del panorama internacional. Musa del neorrealismo italiano, fue la protagonista de películas inolvidables de la mano de grandes directores, entre ellos Vittorio De Sica y Dino Risi, y tuvo como compañeros de reparto a los mejores actores del siglo XX, como Cary Grant y Marcello Mastroianni.

En 1961 fue galardonada con un Oscar por su interpretación en la película Dos mujeres, y en 1991 la Academia le otorgó un premio por toda su carrera. En el año 2014 el Festival de Cannes le dedicó un homenaje especial, y a sus ochenta años estrenó un cortometraje dirigido por su hijo.
