Back to the basics
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, these Back to the Roots plantable seed pots are honestly such a vibe. As a millennial mama trying to keep my home cute and eco-friendly, I’m super impressed. They’re organic, peat-free, and you can literally plant the whole pot—no mess, no stress. My seedlings are growing strong, and I love knowing the material breaks down naturally. Plus, it feels like a tiny self-care moment every time I water them. If you’re into easy gardening and sustainable living, these are a total must-have for your plant-girl era. 🌿✨

Nice seed pot
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to set up and use. Soil seems to settle in well with no issue. Drainage is decent for a seed starting pot but can’t be a long term pot. Overall a decent product.

Sturdy, eco-friendly, and perfect for stress-free
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These organic plantable seed pots are fantastic! They’re sturdy, eco-friendly, and make transplanting completely stress-free—no root shock at all. My seedlings sprouted quickly and the pots held up long enough to keep them hydrated but still broke down perfectly once planted. Highly recommend for anyone looking to simplify gardening while reducing plastic waste.

Easy, convenient, organic seed-starting pots for a
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love these "Back to the Roots" brand Organic, Plantable Seed-Starting Pots. Makes gardening so much easier. The organic pots make it especially convenient to get seeds started. I just add nutrient-rich soil to the small pots, along with my seeds, and watch the plants sprout & grow. Then once the small plants have started growing and are ready to be placed in a permanent growing spot, I can simply plant them in the ground or in my raised garden beds. There's no need to remove the seedling plant from the container...simply dig, insert plant pot into the soil, cover w/dirt, and watch it grow! Highly recommend these Back to the Roots pots. Really easy & convenient for those who love to garden like me.

Great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Theses are really cute and easy to use. The only thing is I didn’t know you needed to buy your own seeds , once you have the seeds it’s so simple and you will have your own garden!

Love these for my starter plants!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The organic & plantable seed starting pots are great for starter plants. the size is small and light weight, and can be easily more managed for smaller plants. They help to protect the roots as they start to grow. The pots are decomposable and will breakdown over time due to being made of natural biodegradable material like peat, cow manure, or recycled paper. You simply plant the whole pot with the plant. Love these.

Excellent starter pots
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These starter pots are the perfect size for seedlings. While it is too cool in northern Michigan where I live to start planting, these pots gave me inspiration to pull garden seeds out and start dreaming for 2026. I like that they are organic and do not have glues in them. They also are a bit wider than some I've used in the past and that will be handy.

The worst ~ I do not recommend
I lost time and money on this. There are no drainage holes ~ I poked a hole with a nail in half of them but it didnt help. They fell apart after one watering ~ dirt everywhere. The worst part is I used expensive starter soil so that's gone plus the seeds ~ not to mention the time. I usually have no complaints with Target products but this was a really bad experience.

Hi PoppyJane! We’re so sorry to hear about your experience and totally understand how disappointing it is to lose valuable soil, seeds, and time. Our seed-starting pots are designed to biodegrade over time, but they definitely shouldn’t fall apart after just one watering. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and want to help make it right. Could you please reach out to us at contact@backtotheroots.com with more details about what happened? If you have any photos, those would be helpful too. We’re here to support your gardening journey and want to turn this experience around for you.

Egg cartons have more structure!
These individual seed pots are a great way to start seedlings. Unfortunately, the Back To The Roots pots are more delicate than other name brands once filled with soil, seeds, and particularly: watered. The photos show the Back to the Roots pots on the right, compared to another brand after being watered. The BTTR pots lack more fibrous rigidity; cardboard egg cartons have more structure than these pots! If you plan to move your peat pots around frequently as I do for watering and then to harden off the seedlings, I’d suggest getting another brand. The BTTR pots are already feeling like they are disintegrating which is super disappointing as the seedlings haven’t yet sprouted. I am already planning to repot them in a bigger peat pot - not this brand! - which is just a loss of my money. I’m glad I picked this up on sale. I wouldn’t repurchase.

Uneven watering, a tad too large
The design of these pots left the tops of the containers dry while the bottoms remained soggy, resulting in mildew and stunted growth. Found them too large and material is different from other plantable seed starting pots. Not part of promotion review.

No drainage. Mold.
There is zero drainage in these so they turn into little mud cups when you water. They also mold like crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it. Zero percent chance I’d buy them again.

Good little pots
The size is great for starting seeds. I love being able to write on them, then I can put them straight in the ground. My only complaint is they are VERY difficult to separate.
