Q: How do these attach to your bra? Do they leak if you fold them down to pump or feed the baby?

submitted by tigar - 6 years ago
  • A: They do not attach to your bra. You just place them inside of your bra like disposables. They just absorb milk that leaks from the nipple between feedings. You’d remove them to feed or pump.

    submitted byHouley01 - 6 years ago
  • A: While they don’t attach to your bra like the disposable ones do, they stay in place and absorb a lot of liquid. I love wearing them and I am so pleased with my purchase of them!!

    submitted bySiamese81 - 6 years ago
  • A: Bamboobies overnight washable pads do not adhere to bras or apparel like disposable pads, but they are absorbent and will not leak if you fold them down to pump or breastfeed your baby.

Q: How am I supposed to use these overnight? I definitely don’t want to wear a bra ALL the time, so these are only helpful when I leave the house and have a need to wear a bra

submitted by Emma - 6 years ago
  • A: Bamboobies overnight nursing pads can be paired with your favorite nursing bra or your favorite nursing tank. Bamboobies offers a yoga nursing bra and seamless nursing tank that are both comfortable enough to sleep in!

Summary of reviews

The Bamboobies nursing pads are praised for their softness, comfort, and absorbency. They are reusable and eco-friendly, which is appreciated by many guests. However, some guests reported that the pads do not stay in place well and are not absorbent enough for heavy leakage or overnight use. The need for frequent washing is also a common concern.

Not absorbent and don't stay in place

Although these are soft they are no where near absorbent enough for overnight use. I’ve tried these multiple nights and everyone I end up with a wet shirt and leaking all around. They also don't stay in place. Other brands make reusable nursing pads for daytime that do a much better job of absorbing and staying in place.

Absorbent & soft, but expensive

Serena - 9 months ago, Verified purchaser
These definitely do the trick for overnight leakage! However, I've noticed KeaBabies brand breast/nipple pads do just as good a job for a fraction of the cost. Also note that the soft lining is great unless breastmilk has dried on it--then the nap/pile of the fabric becomes scratchy.

5.5 years breastfeeding and pumping

I DON’T understand the negative reviews that say “they move around”. People are wanting these to function like a sticky disposable. It’s not that so why expect that? It’s literally a piece of fabric. Wear these with a fitted bra. They’ll move when you unclasp the bra to feed. I consider that to be a reasonable thing to expect. They’re not going to stay in the same spot if you’re moving things around. Just re-position them. I’ve been breastfeeding and pumping for 5.5 years and used these for the last 4.5 years and never had issues. I have a strong let down that choke my babies. These become more absorbent with every wash. That’s the nature of bamboo. Before the baby is born, when you’re washing the baby’s clothes in preparation for their arrival, just add these to your loads. It’s the same way with bamboo cloth diapers. Hemp diapers. You have to wash them a few times before they reach peak absorbency. I would not stick them in the dryer though in case of shrinkage. Just lay flat to dry. Now that I’m done breastfeeding, I’m using these in place of facial cotton rounds to apply toner. They’re much better than the disposable rounds that leave cotton fluffies on your face. I bought a few packs slowly over time to build up enough of a stash where I wasn’t having to wash these as frequently and always had some clean ones ready to go. Many years later, I can confidently say I got my monies worth.

They are very soft to the touch but not absorbent enough for overnight, or while nursing one side to catch leaks on the other side. They also don’t really stay in place well since they aren’t sticky. I tried to be sustainable and use these but they just come with extra hassle that new moms shouldn’t have to deal with. If you really want these, add them to your registry but don’t buy them for yourself. Lulz.

The SOFTEST,....BUT...

While they are the softest breast pads so far I’ve found, they do hold a lot of moisture making you feel wet. I specifically used these for over night to test them and they failed me. I woke up with leaking and wet shirt bed sheets. I will reiterating tho they are the softest on chapped and soreness. I would like to add that the constant washing is also annoying. It’s just adding another task onto my plate as a new mom, learning pumping, breastfeeding, and having to supplement with formulas you do not need more work

The pads are soft against the nipple but sometimes they stick and it has to be peeled off, which hurts. I did find that putting nipple balm beforehand helps prevent them from sticking. Also, I can only wear them half the night because they aren’t that absorbent. Otherwise, I wake up to a soaked pad and shirt. All in all, it saves me a pair of reusable pads per night. Usually I go through two-three pads per boob per night. I have found them more useful after pumping, when my breasts aren’t full but still leak during letdowns. I don’t mind them now that I have them, but I would pass if I knew they weren’t “overnight” pads and required nipple balm to prevent sticking.

I used to buy the disposable ones. I feel so bad 1) how much waste it was 2) the amount of $$$ I threw away. These are very soft and therefore very comfortable. If I could do it over again I would buy these nursing pads since day one.

Soft but not for use after breast surgery

5 out of 5 stars
Alice - 3 years ago
These were recommended to me after breast cancer surgery and I purchased them locally so I could use them right away. I'm giving them 5 stars because they are very soft and comfortable but unfortunately, they don't work post-surgery. The exudate along the sutures dried to the velour and when I removed them, it ripped off the scabbing setting my healing back a bit. I can see how they'd be great for nipples sore from breast feeding but if you're looking for a post-surgery item, get disposable nursing pads. Their non-fabric surface absorbs without sticking.
