Barbie Basics Collectible Doll, Model 04 with Red Curly Hair in Black Dress and Platform Heels

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My teenage daughter is an artist who loves designing clothing for herself, and for Barbie. She loves the pose flexibility of this doll. She noted the head was a little loose and harder to keep in position than a traditional Barbie doll. The clothes and shoes were very basic, which is fine, as that is not really the point of this particular doll. Face design was good. Quality of the doll is good. We are very pleased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I'm reviewing the red headed Basics Barbie. I thought she was a very pretty red head and I was right. She has a beautiful shade of red, long hair with a bit of a flip on the ends. And there's a lot of thick hair. She has a pretty face and even has freckles, which I love. She has articulated arms, legs, knees, ankles, elbows and hands. She also turns just below her chest and just below her shoulders and on her upper thighs. It gives the doll extra movement and greatly helps in posing her. Her neck is a little bit too lose so when I held her and let her head lean back, her head would fall back. She wears a long basic black dress (every woman should have a little black dress, right?). It has a thigh high split up one side of her legs. She also comes wearing black, strappy wedge shoes and a clear, acrylic stand, but it's difficult to get it to stay on her, either over her dress or under it. The Barbie isn't going to move around in the package because it's attached everywhere. It also comes with a certificate of authenticity. Which is a nice little touch. I've always been fond of Barbie and she is no exception. I think every little girl and even grown women who collect them, would love to own either of the basics Barbie's. I'm happy to have this lovely lass in my collection for years to come.

A simple doll I can dress up, I love the red hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Barbie Basics Model #4 Doll is so cute with Auburn hair, little black dress, great facial sculpt and pose that says I'm ready for playful fun or an exciting night out. I didn't want to remove her from the package but I couldn't resist playing with her. After a little time finding all the tie downs and extra plastic to maintain her pose she was out of the box and ready for play! The moveable joints make all the difference for creating imaginative play. I imagined she was new in town and was doing some searches on social media to see how the women in the area were styling their little black dresses. She struck up a conversation with Barbie Basics Model #1 and they exchanged some ideas and after a short while Barbie #4 had her look for the night. She was invited to join the whole Barbie Basics group to go out dancing and had a wild time and met some great new friends. Just one example of the fun this Barbie can have with your help creating stories for her to play and act out. Highly recommend the Barbie Basics line!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the Barbie Basics little black dress doll #4 Caucasian with red hair. Her hair is actually red and blonde blended together, which makes for a beautiful, bold, but natural color. The hair is well rooted, with a middle part and classic do'. It feels silky and has a little curl/ body wave. Not too thin or sparse as some dolls can have. Her face details look realistic without being creepy, as she still looks like Barbie. I like the freckles and eyelash/ eyebrow details. I also like the realistic makeup she has. This is a poseable, articulated doll. The joints are stiff enough to hold their position with gentle pressure to move them. Only one elbow joint felt stiffer than the rest and took a little more force to move. I was able to do a photo shoot with her in different poses that a traditional Barbie cannot do. One thing, however, she can't do that a traditional Barbie can do, it's twist her waist. I think one more jointed area in her waist would do. Especially if it allowed her side-to-side motion as well as a twist. I also think Barbies' feet are still unnaturally small, but I like that she can stand flat or wear heels due to the ankle joint allowing her toe to point. Her shoes are stylish and cute, and go on easily. They stay on, but come off easily as well. Her dress is a very simple cut of fabric with a velcro closure. She is a slim doll, so I don't know how well her dress would fit another doll. It definitely would not fit a curvy or OG doll. I, personally, wish they would add a back 'panel' that is removable to add or subtract to fit different dolls. Or maybe have different closures you can overlap for smaller dolls. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Barbie Basics collection is comprised of five different Barbies wearing different ‘little black dresses’. They come with a certificate of authenticity and a stand. All of the dolls have appealing hair styles and outfits, and it was hard to choose which doll to get. Ultimately, I chose the Barbie with the long red hair and the maxi dress with a high slit. It was her cute platform shoes that clinched my decision. The doll has articulated limbs, which is something that was new to me. I was a bit out off at first by the appearance of the ‘joints’, but the doll can be positioned in so many different and natural ways, that I don’t mind them as much anymore. They seemed a little stiff at first, but loosened up a bit with use. Barbie’s printed face has a pleasant appearance and she even has a spray of freckles, which is an adorable added touch. My only complaint about this Barbie is that her hair is a little bit unkempt. But as I recall this is probably normal for a Barbie with long hair. I later discovered that if you pull back her hair and twist it, that would neaten it up. The color of the hair is lovely, as it has varying shades in it just like natural human hair. This particular Barbie with the long dress features the smallest earrings of the group. I was thinking I might like to switch out the earrings, but I don’t believe those can be switched. However, the dress and shoes can be switched out and I see that there are some cute and fun accessories that are available. Overall, this Barbie gets a thumbs up. She has attractive and realistic characteristics, and comes with a fashion forward dress and shoes. And her articulated limbs and body allow her to be positioned in many ‘super model’ poses. It has been entertaining to pose her with different props and to take her picture in all the rooms of my home, at any time of day or night.

The details are very elegant from the make up, hair, and clothing. This doll is great and is made to move!

The hair appeared to be super thick but after finally getting her out and away from all the box packaging it’s not really that thick. The color is very becoming to her with her skin tone. The clothing is pretty thin and cheap but since I bought her to redress I don’t care. I’ll just give away the original clothing. She’s easy to dress and looks good in e writhing.

My 6 year old Granddaughter wanted to put it on a shelf like I have my collectable ones but after we put it up she decided she wanted to play with her, and she loved how her joint work (knees elbows etc ) she loves the clothes and wants to know if we can find clothes like that to dress some of her other Barbies.

This doll, Basics 4, has the prettiest face and red hair. Her hair has the prettiest blonde highlights. I took these photos straight out of the box, her hair will need a little taming but it's an easy fix. I love the material of her dress. It's stretchy so it will fit other Barbie body types. I love the made to move body articulation with the possibilities of poses. Her shoes are simple, but I love the little buckle detail. I love that she has simple silver hoop earrings, so I will be able to easily dress her in other outfits. Her eyes are a beautiful blue, her lipstick a suddle pink, and her freckles are so cute! Overall I am absolutely in love with this doll, and would absolutely love to own the other dolls in the new Basic line.

You can add as many accessories as you want so you you give the doll more pizzazz with her black dress and heels. The side slit on the dress is great.

Doll has blue eyes, brown eye shadow, pink lipstick, and freckles. Face paint is not pixelated. Doll has red hair with some blonde mixed in. Hair is smooth and has a slight curl in the ends, it does have some product but it's still soft, no brushing out of the box required. Doll wears a long black dress with a high slit and black ribbon straps. Dress has hook and loop fastener on the back but it is taped on the front of the doll making it a little difficult to remove. Doll did have some marks on her upper arms.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose the redhead Barbie Basics doll. I have always envied girls with beautiful coppery red hair, so I was very excited she was still available. This Barbie is GORGEOUS! I used to think it was all about the clothes and accessories, but the simplicity of this doll with her black dress are what make her stand out. I especially love how the jointed limbs rotate completely so you can pose her in virtually any position. The quality es exceptional, with no fear of popping off a leg when adjusting to different positions. Nothing like the Barbie’s from my childhood! I adore this Basic Barbie and am looking forward to passing it on to my granddaughter….when I’m done playing.

Please send these items in A box instead of plastic envelooes so the item isnt damaged.
