Barbie Inspiring Women Series Billie Jean King Collectible Doll, Approx. 12-in, Wearing Tennis Dress and Accessories, with Doll Stand

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] She's very flexible and has great detailed features. However, I am not completely happy with her. When opening her up out of the package and just gently cutting the rubber band holding her hand in the package, her hand popped out. The joint has a point that can easily hurt someone if they get stabbed with it. Upon just moving her around some, her hand can easily come out. There should be a warning on the outside of this package. We were disappointed with trying to put her on the stand and figured out that there was nothing we could do with her tennis ball- it doesn't stick to anything. So my kids gave up on putting her on the stand and decided that she was an awesome match for Batman. She's great at being flexible and fun to play with. My kids enjoy playing with her.

It is design well and I think it needs more accessories like different outfits I'll do like the accessories to it and it was made well in the history of Billie Jean's career in tennis legendary never met her but hopefully one day I will and I will recommend this doll to everyone who collects dolls and who's a fan of tennis

It’s adorable, it doesn’t smell chemical like many others do, my kids (7 and 2 year old) played with it for a couple of weeks now and it didn’t break (!); it holds their interest; the quality is top-notch. I am really looking to expand our collection by other dolls of the series.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First feature I admired was the movable joints. I love how the elbows, wrist and knees give more range of motion. Next feature I instantly saw was Billie Jean King’s physique. The doll’s athletic physique gave it a realistic look. The glasses, tennis racquet and ball was a cute finishing touch. Now, if this doll is to be played with, which it it playable, the dolls hair is really stiff, not much range of hairstyles to play with. Also, the tennis ball can easily be lost, the ball can sit on Billie Jean King’s hand but it can easily fall. This doll will be a great collectors item or play to anyone who collects barbies or inspiring women.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love how boys and girls alike can see Billie Jean King as a role model and have this Barbie doll which can also be played with as an action figure. The first problem we had is with the packaging. As you can see in the attached photo, someone thought it was a good idea to have plastic ties going into the head of the doll so that when you cut it from the plastic box, the plastic ties are still sticking out the back of her head and they are sharp! Second, the tennis ball is too small and there is no where to put it. Her hand could have formed a round bowl shape so that the ball could sit better in her hand or there could have been pockets in her outfit so that you could put the ball in the pocket or the racquet and ball could have some Velcro so that it could stick onto the racquet. Another thing is that she only has one wristband on her right wrist, but she should have one on each wrist. Lastly, it would be nice if her shoes were removable so that she could wear different types of sneakers. Even though it is difficult to play with (always losing the tiny tennis ball), it is a pretty good replica.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Billie Jean King Barbie doll is amazing! Her flexibility is great. Her knees bend and can be posed in many sporty positions. The detail work put into this doll is exquisite. Billie Jean’s tennis racket looks like a real Wilson racket! The info on the back of the toy box was informative and inspiring to all girls/women. I had to explain a bit about what “equality” is to my 7 year old, but it was a good teaching opportunity. My daughters only criticism is the tennis ball. It is a tiny accessory and she wished there was some way to secure the ball so it didn’t get lost.

I am glad they are coming out with dolls that aren't so focused on shapes of the bodies and sexiness's. Especially. When the toys they are geared towards are young impressionable girls.

I like that I was able to discuss the historical significance of Billie Jean King with them before opening the box. They liked to play with the tennis racket and ball and enjoyed the fact that the legs of the doll are movable. I would say my only criticism is that the ball is too light and tiny. They would get frustrated because they would lose it easily and have to search for it.

I thought that it was inventive and inspiring. To be able to turn the box around and read just an excerpt of what inspired the making of this this doll made it beg for more information. it sparked a conversation with my daughter about what made her so famous. My daughter wanted to know more about the story and so it prompted us to do some research to find out what made her such an inspiration. This doll prompted a conversation about an important role model in history. What this doll represents in terms of how she inspired many women in tennis. The doll itself was very maneuverable and made for easy play. Most dolls that my daughter has would just move at the shoulders and the torso. It was nice that the knees bent and the arm bent in a way that allowed my daughter to really pretend to play tennis with her doll. The detail the doll has is amazing, even down to the expression on the doll's face. I would recommend this doll and hope that there are more dolls that are made based on predominant role models in history.

Then she had the doll teach Barbie how to play tennis. I told her who Billie Jean King was and what she did. The hair feels hard not soft like most Barbies. The ball looks and feels like a real tennis ball.

This doll is amazing. Her likeness to legendary tennis player Billie Jean King is perfect. Love that they made sure to muscle up her thighs and arms representing a true athlete. I’m so glad I purchased her. Great job Mattel.
