A: Hi! Thank you for reaching out! Yes! Here are some helpful self tanner tips! NO heavy soaps, PH Balancers, oil based moisturizers, perfumes, and even exfoliant residue. These act as a skin barrier and can block the tanner from working properly. Always make sure you do your Self Tanner prep before applying! Shower, shave, exfoliate, apply moisturizer & then apply self tanner! Make sure you don't glob it on and do thick layers - thats how you get streaks! - It's not the product. Apply a nice thin layer using circular sweeping motions. Making sure to cover the area. Apply very lightly and blend well on your wrists, ankles, and hands. Always wash hands thoroughly as our tanners are white and go on clear. If the color development, is not much or you want to go darker, you would apply a 2nd layer the next day. Or shade up! If the color development is any sort of orangey - that means the shade is too dark for you and need to shade down. Hope this helps! A: Thank you for reaching out! As we are a dye free brand - the active ingredient in our self tanner is DHA, a sugar derivative that gives the top layer of the skin a bronzed glow. Non-GMO and overflowing with plant-based goodness. It works with the bodies natural pigmentation of the outermost skin layer, the strateum corneum to produce a brown color, or tan. It takes about 5-10 min to dry. It takes about 6-8 hours for full development. You would not want to wash it, shower, sweat or go swimming during that timeframe. If you are sweating or whipping with a freshly applied self tanner on during the 6-8 hour development period then some product transfer can happen as the active ingredient is still working. Or if the skin isn't exfoliated prior to application then there could be dead skin cells rubbing off. Most prefer to apply their at night so it fully develops while you sleep. Hope this helps!
