About this item

Highlights

  • Provides 12-month systemic insect protection for trees and shrubs, controlling pests such as Emerald Ash Borers, Japanese beetles, aphids, adelgids, scale, whiteflies, and leaf miners by killing them through contact and ingestion.
  • Absorbed through the roots, this formula delivers continuous pest protection from the inside out, preventing infestations and reducing plant damage.
  • Granular, ready-to-use formula eliminates the need for spraying—simply apply around the base of the plant, water it in, and let the product work.
  • Slow-release fertilizer helps strengthen root systems, improve drought resistance, and promote lush, vibrant foliage for up to one year.
  • Ideal for ornamental trees, shrubs, and container plants, but not for use on edible plants like fruit or vegetable crops; safe for use in residential landscapes when applied as directed.

Description

BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed Granules is a systemic insecticide and fertilizer designed to provide year-long protection against common tree and shrub pests while nourishing plants for healthy growth. The granular, ready-to-use formula makes application simple—just spread it evenly around the base of the plant and water it in. It works by being absorbed through the roots, killing pests like Japanese beetles, aphids, scale, and adelgids from the inside out. In addition to insect control, the slow-release fertilizer strengthens roots, promotes lush foliage, and enhances overall plant health. This product is ideal for ornamental trees, shrubs, and container plants, but it should not be used on edible plants such as fruit or vegetable crops.

I treat a large grouping of ash, most 23” diameter. We were fortunate to find this product at the start of emerald ash borer signs. We saved our trees, neighbors all lost theirs. It is costly treating 14 large trees, but cutting them down would cost more and destroy the beauty. I hope in the long term we made the right choice.

Great product. Bought it to help with aphids and scale on our trees in California. Loved this product. Unfortunately can't purchase it in California anymore (went down a wormhole to figure this out). Please come out with a California friendly replacement product!

I have been using this on my trees for many years but only noticed the warning not to use it on Linden trees this year. I may have killed one of my Lindens and am glad I noticed the warning before applying it to the remaining Linden tree this year. There should be a prominent warning on the main label for this, not hidden down in other labels.
1 reply from Consumer Affairs team - 1 year ago
BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed will not harm Linden trees. The reason the product is not recommended for them is because they are beneficial trees that attract and promote beneficial insects, like pollinators. We do recommend that customers read and understand all label directions before applying, but I will certainly pass your feedback along to our team.

I've been using Bayer, Tree, and Shrub Protect, and Feed and most recently purchased a 32oz container. I have Oleanders and they have been attacked and slowly dying, however, I purchased a container several months ago used it on three of the fifteen oleanders and they look amazingly healthy. They are all white flower plants that are susceptible to this .... insect. So, I'm going to continue to use BioAdvanced Tree and Shrub hoping that I can save my expensive landscape here in cental Phoenix.

Excellent! We look forward to helping you keep your oleanders healthy and bug free Sophie! Jessica

I bought BioAdvanced 12mth Tree+Shrub Protect and Feed, for my mum’s Japanese Magnolia Plants. One of which had been suffering from what I recently learned was a MASSIVE Scale infestation and Black Soot Disease. The infestation was unsightly and the plant looked pitiful. We treated her plant with this product, and in no time at all, “POOF!!” BOTH the Scale AND the Black Soot were completely GONE! Not only that, but the Japanese Magnolia Plant BLOOMED like it had not bloomed in YEARS! It looked absolutely GORGEOUS! So much so, that Neighbors stopped by just to comment on how Beautiful my mum’s Japanese Magnolia Tree Looked with its Big, Beautiful, Blooming Flowers! Unfortunately, I do not have any “After” treatment pictures, but if I can update this review later, I will attempt to take some pics and post them later (just waiting for all our rain to stop..*chuckles*)..But, Trust Me, the difference is Night & Day between “Before” and “After”, and how Sick and Pitiful the Tree was compared to how Vibrant, Lush, Blooming and Beautiful the Tree was after the treatment took effect! I constantly recommend this and BioAdvanced other related products (the one made for Fruits/Veggies, the other made for Houseplants, etc..) to other Gardeners to treat their plants, trees, houseplants, etc. and I have made those recommendations without any reservation and with absolutely confidence that person will NOT be disappointed in the Results, but will be astounded at the “Before/After” difference when using this product!

I often go to websites to read the instructions for use. This site refers you to read the label for how to dilute the concentrate appropriately. The print on the bottle is always so small on this type of product, that now I am in a vicious cycle of trying to get the instructions.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 4 years ago
I am sorry to hear that. Here is a link to the product website. You may click on the "Explore" tab and then on "Labels" to view the full product label. To make the label larger you can push the Ctrl button and then scroll upward with your mouse to enlarge. I hope this helps! I bought this product 6 months ago and I have seen a significant decrease in white flies on my Indian Laurel ficus. Unfortunately the white fly has returned. Would I be able to re apply or do I need to wait the entire 12 months?
1 reply from Customer Care team - 4 years ago
Excellent! For an active infestation you may go ahead and reapply but that would need to be your one application for the 2021 season. Jessica

I applied your Bioadvanced Shrub and Tree, 12 month granules 8 months ago on my hibiscus shrubs. Your product worked great, allowing our hibiscus to thrive, insect free. I noticed the insects are starting to return. Can I reapply your product after just 8 months? We live in Hawaii with lots of sun and moderate rainfall in our area. Thank you.

Excellent! I am so pleased that you have had such great results! If you currently have an active infestation you may go ahead and reapply but that would need to be your 1 application for the 2021 season. Jessica

If this treatment is absorbed by root system and protects the tree from inside out, it means that the poison will be as well in the flowers and fruits of the tree? I have avocado tree with leave Lace bug damage. Sounds like, it would be a good treatment for the tree, but the flowers would be poisonous for bees and fruits for humans? Or not?
1 reply from Consumer Affairs team - 4 years ago
BioAdvanced products (including those containing imidacloprid or clothianidin) do not adversely impact bee colony health when used according to label directions. The 12 Month Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed is not recommended for use on any food producing trees or shrubs. We do have a Fruit & Citrus Tree Insect Control systemic that may be safely applied to avocado trees for lacebug control. After application you would need to wait at least 6 days before harvesting to ensure the avocados will be safe for consumption.

I've used the liquid version of this product on my ficus whiteflys and its worked fantastic. This year I tried the granules because I have a longer hedge to cover and it was easier to apply. Should the granules be as effective as the liquid? How long until I start to see the results?
1 reply from Consumer Affairs team - 4 years ago
Hello Rob! Both the liquid concentrate and the granules use the same active ingredients to control listed pests. Both are equally effective in the control of white flies. Visible results will vary depending on the health and size of your hedge.

In 2019 and 2020 I used BioAdvanced Tree & Shrub to prevent ash bore beetle from invading my ash tree. It is effective for 12 months, but I am wondering if it is advisable to treat my tree every 6 months to increase protection for this ash tree, since ash bore beetle is rampant in my area now. I used this product in the fall of 2019 & 2020 and my ash tree looks very healthy now.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 5 years ago
That is amazing to hear! I am so glad that you have been able to save your ash trees! The product does have a 12 month residual so it would not be necessary to apply more than once per year. Thank you so much for sharing your success with the product!

This worked well to rid the aphids on my oleanders. I used it on my artichoke that had terrible ants that I understand meant something else unwanted. Took care of that problem. New problem: My artichoke is not edible because I poisoned the soil. QUESTION: How long, if ever, will my soil be suitable to use for edible plants? Thank you.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 5 years ago
Thank you so much for sharing your results Dawna! Since the product has already been applied to your artichoke I would recommend not eating the artichokes for 1 full year when the product residual wears off. In the future you may apply our Natria Neem Oil to control listed pests and plant diseases.

I have two large Hibiscus bushes. One is 7 feet tall and the other is 8 feet. The instructions say multiply the height in feet and multiply by 3 to determine how many ounces of product to mix with a gallon of water. This instruction is saying mix 21 ounces of product for one and 24 ounces for the other. This can't be right. What is the correct amount?
1 reply from Customer Care team - 5 years ago
That would be the correct amount for the shrubs to mix with 1 gallon of water. Shrubs grow out as well as up so it is important to apply the proper amount to ensure there is enough product to circulate throughout the shrub to get the 1 year insect protection.

This product is absolutely amazing. The scale on my Croton plants was so bad (before I noticed it) that it had lost most of its leaves. One dose of this product and as if by magic, the scale was gone and the plants are thriving! What I would like to ask is, are there any plants that it shouldn’t be used on? (Besides all edible plants). I have been fighting worms on my potted bougainvillea, hibiscus and Light bulb tree ((Clerodendrum Smithianum) and wondered if I can use it on those potted plants .Thank you for making such a wonderful, easy to use product!
