Q: How can 17 ounces equate to 4 cups?
submitted by Pops - 3 months ago
A: Thank you for your question! As a European company, Bodum uses 4 oz European “cup” sizes, four of which equals about the 17 oz volume of our Pour Over. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Hope this helps!

Q: How is this coffee maker 4 cup and 17 oz. when 4 cups is 32 oz., which is almost double 17 oz.?
submitted by sfmarkg - 4 months ago
A: Thank you for your question! As a European company, Bodum uses 4 oz European cup sizes, which is where the 4-cup description comes from. The total volume of the Pour Over is 17oz. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Hope this helps!

Q: On cleaning the glass, how easy is it to get your hand inside the carafe to thoroughly clean?
submitted by KS PourOver - 10 months ago
A: Thank you for your question! This Pour Over is very easy to clean thanks to its dishwasher-safe borosilicate glass carafe. Simply loosen and unwrap the leather band to remove the cork sleeve, then place the carafe - and the permanent stainless steel filter - on the top rack of your dishwasher! Handwashing is simple as well; while we don’t recommend reaching inside the carafe due to its hourglass shape, a dish brush makes it easy to clean the glass thoroughly. Hope this helps!

Q: 1) Can carafe with coffee in it be reheated in microwave?
2) Can some kind of "gentle" mug warmer be used under carafe while doing the pour-over & afterward to keep coffee warm?
submitted by yaks - 2 years ago
A: Thank you for your questions! We don’t recommend heating the POUR OVER in the microwave or on a mug warmer, especially anything with an open flame, as it’s not designed for direct heat. For reheating, we suggest transferring your coffee to a microwave-safe mug or exploring our double-wall insulated mugs, which help keep your coffee hot for longer. Hope this helps!

Q: I I want to use a paper filter, as well with this, for dual filtration, what size/which one shoud I get? Mellita? Thx!!
submitted by Screename - 2 years ago
A: At Bodum, we pride ourselves on our coffee makers not needing paper filters for a great cup of coffee. Our stainless steel filter is precision cut for optimal filtration, preventing excess residue or grounds in your cup. However, if you prefer to use a paper filter with our Pour Over, the 4 Cup / 17 oz size corresponds roughly to a #2 conical paper filter of any brand. Please note that since our products are designed to be used without paper filters, the sizing may not be exact and the pour-over process may take longer than indicated in the instructions. Enjoy your coffee!

Q: can this caraf be kept warm on the stove?
submitted by indigocove - 4 years ago
A: This product should not be placed on any heated cooktop or open flame.

Q: Would it work with a paper filter inside the stainless filter?
submitted by Kay - 4 years ago
A: The included stainless steel filter ensures that the oils from the coffee can transfer to your individual cup for full flavor. A paper filter can be inserted for dual filtration, but it will absorb the oils from the coffee and subtly change the taste.
submitted byBodum - 4 years ago

Q: How fine is the metal mesh? Is it 100% stainless steel and no plastic?
submitted by W - 6 years ago
A: The mesh portion of the filter is made of 100% stainless steel. The filter does have 100% BPA Free plastic portions of it but the coffee will filter through the stainless steel portion of the filter only. The We don't have the exact measurement for how fine the mesh is; but if the beans are ground to the recommended medium grind (in between coarse and fine) do not expect to find any grinds in your coffee.
This coffee maker is ideal for solo coffee drinkers or those with limited kitchen space, offering a compact design that makes it easy to use and clean. Guests appreciate its ability to brew a smooth cup of coffee without the need for paper filters, although some note that it may not produce hot coffee quickly. Its aesthetic appeal and reasonable price make it a popular choice for minimalists and coffee enthusiasts alike.

Terrific choice!
I purchased this as a gift for a friend who was moving into a small studio apartment with limited kitchen space. They love it! They said that it's easy to use, clean and store. And that the size is just perfect for one person (two if each person has one cup). I have a coffee maker I like, but I would recommend it to those who are minimalist and/or live alone. Also, the price was very reasonable.

Very small/Makes only 2 Cups/Grounds end up in your coffee
This carafe is very small which makes it hard to use. Also, they refer to it as a "4-cup" coffee maker, but that's based on a 4 oz cup of coffee, so it's really just 2 cups. Finally, the coffee grounds go through the metal filter so you end up with coffee grounds in your coffee.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your Pour Over. You are correct that this Pour Over is measured in 4 oz European-style cup sizes and has a total capacity of 17 oz, as indicated in the product description. Note that for best brewing results, we recommend using a medium-coarse coffee grind, as a grind that is too fine can allow more sediment to slip through the filter. If you’d like to further reduce sediment, you can use a paper filter in addition to the stainless steel permanent filter, but this may slow the draw-down time and may remove some of the coffee’s essential oils, which contributes flavor and aroma. If you’d like to share your thoughts directly with our customer service team, please feel free to reach out at support@bodum.com. Thanks again for your review!

Less toxic option to brewing
I was looking for a less toxic option to make coffee while also trying to limit consumption. The carafe makes one large cup of coffee. Sediment is present, but limited and typically remains in the carafe as I pour the coffee into my mug. I like that I don’t have to buy filters and find both the carafe and filter easy to clean. It does take a bit more time than a drip machine, but overall seeps quickly. I enjoy the ease of removal of cork heat protector. The set comes with a scope and cap, both of which I don’t use, but I can see how they would be beneficial to some. Happy with my purchase and may buy a second to keep of the office. The product is very reasonable priced in my opinion.

Easy to clean, perfect coffee, but gets cold while waiting to finish.
It's easy to clean because you can remove the cork neck cover and reapply. I love this idea, but the coffee goes so slow that by the time it's done, the coffee is cold. Or it's not warm enough to dissolve the sugar and putting any cream in it makes it cold. I just wish it was better insulated glass, something that keeps the coffee warm while it's dripping, or the dripper makes the coffee filter thru faster. Either way, I like the aesthetic, and I do use it for other people who like regular coffee without sugar and cream. I just have to reheat the coffee for myself in the microwave.

Not Happy
This coffee maker does not make hot coffee. Even with boiling water. It takes so long to drip and does not have a cover to keep it hot while brewing. I was excited about this type of coffee maker because I like the concept. I have one similar to it in my camper. But I like hot coffee. Very disappointed.

Pretty but more expensive now
Used twice a day everyday for a year and 7 months before my mom accidentally broke it when she was trying to help me wash it😥 Very pretty and it’s a great size for me and my husband. The glass is a bit thin but great quality- never stains or scratches. I came back for another one but found out the cost has increased 50% and is the same as the 8 cup one! I don’t need that bigger size but also don’t want to pay the smaller size the same price. I purchased a different kind of pour over pot which is also very pretty, but I think I will definitely get another of this if the price drops.

I've been using this coffee maker almost daily since I bought it a few months ago, and I love it. It's perfect for one person, very compact and easy to store, and I've been able to make great coffee with minimal effort and minimal clean-up. Highly recommend.

A bad cup
I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong but using the filter they provided produced a really acidic cup and somewhat burnt tasting coffee. It is a shame though because it is a beautiful display maker.

Not what I was expecting..
You cannot use the metal filter alone. The coffee is very weak as the water rushes right through. You need to use filters and the over-the-counter melita filters don't quite fit in there. You have to reshape them which makes the water not flow through correctly as it's folding in. the cork holder looks attractive but is not easy to remove and put back on. I find that a waste of time. You cannot get it wet so you have to take it off if you want to fully wash the container. This just seems like more steps to getting a strong cup of coffee. I have a Melita ceramic dripper and it makes a very strong cup of coffee. I will use that for now and return tht Bodum.
