Description

About the Book

Director of research for YWAM discovers a startling phenomenon--worldwide movements of Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and others who follow Jesus outside the boundaries of Western Christianity--and imagines new possibilities for our faith.

Book Synopsis

In his many travels as a researcher for Youth With A Mission, Bryan Bishop discovered a startling phenomenon: hidden movements of Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists who are experiencing and following Jesus outside the boundaries of traditional Western Christianity. And they have plenty to teach Christians in the West who feel spiritually stagnant or disillusioned.

Through colorful firsthand accounts, Bishop unveils fresh expressions of faith that can revitalize our own. Those who have left or are feeling the pull to leave the church, along with those who chafe against Christianity's European-American cultural box, will welcome this expansive view of what it looks like to follow Christ.

Discover a more expansive way to follow Jesus

In his many travels as a researcher for Youth With A Mission, Bryan Bishop has discovered a startling phenomenon: hidden movements of Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and others who are experiencing and following Jesus outside the boundaries of traditional Western Christianity. Through colorful firsthand accounts, Bishop explains how these fresh expressions of faith can revitalize our own.

If you want to grow in areas where you feel stagnant or disillusioned, if you are concerned about friends who have left the church behind, or if you chafe against Christianity's European-American cultural box, you will find in this book a liberating view of what it looks like to follow Christ.

"Inspiring and full of hope. We are introduced to Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Native Americans, and American youth experiencing Jesus freed from unhelpful Western trappings and traditions. I highly recommend it."--John J. Travis, PhD, missiologist, affiliate faculty, Fuller Theological Seminary

"Read Boundless to see what church looks like among peoples who haven't been told to check their ethnicity at the door."--EJ Martin, editor, Where There Was No Church: Postcards from Followers of Jesus in the Muslim World

"Bryan Bishop's stimulating accounts of alternate patterns of discipleship to Jesus will instruct and intrigue."--H. L. Richard, editor, Rethinking Hindu Ministry

Bryan Bishop has managed research projects for Youth With A Mission (YWAM) for over 20 years. He has taught on communications and mission to audiences in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Bryan and his wife, Tamara, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
