Britax UpNGo Backless Booster Car Seat - Black

Our very tall child outgrew his Chicco MyFit and we needed a booster for a 57” tall child. We needed a narrow seat to fit into our Subaru Ascent 2nd row center seat. You DO have to have a headrest in whichever position you place this booster seat. It took a couple of rides for our child to adjust from a high back booster to a backless booster, but he likes this seat. The cup holders are nice, full size cupholders. He is happy to have two cupholders. He stated that it was as or a little more comfortable than his Chicco seat. Very easy to install and to buckle. We went without rigid latches in case they didn’t line up with the latch receivers in our car. Highly recommend! We went on a longer trip over the weekend and no complaints! Great price point compared to other options for kids over 57” tall.

I am currently using it for my 8 year old daughter, and she prefers it over the other brand she was previously using, which kind of tilted her up and back in an odd way. So she is definitely more comfortable and happier in this one. It is also a great option to have as an extra booster seat to switch between cars or have stored away in the trunk as a back up for when we are driving her friends, as it is small and lightweight. I love the fact that the fabric is removable and washable, but I love even more the fact that it is free from flame-retardant chemicals sprayed on it. The one confusing issue we had was I didn’t understand the picture from the instruction booklet about what is NOT safe placement for the shoulder strap. Both the placement in the yes picture and the no picture looked the same to me. But the shoulder strap clip was easy to hook up and use, and it worked better than another brand’s clip I tried previously. I have two vehicles, and one car seat constantly needs to be moved, so having a lightweight booster has been a game-changer after my son graduated from a full car seat. When it came time to move everyone into backless boosters, the UpNGo ended up being a great fit for our family. It’s the lightest feeling booster we tried—I can easily lift it with a single finger! My son wanted to help with the install, and it was no problem for him to carry it from the house to the car. It also transferred seamlessly from one car to the other when we used it to transport a kiddo for a playdate. One of my favorite features is the removable cupholders. While cupholders are extremely handy, they can also make seats too wide for our vehicle. I appreciate that the cupholders on the UpNGo were simple to remove. I could easy stow them away in the hall closet and attach them for longer road trips in the van, where the kids can spread out a bit more. I am also grateful that the fabric easily detaches from the seat for easy clean up and washing---many car snacks are consumed in our vehicles! This model of the UpNGo does not have latches to connect the booster to the car’s metal anchors. I do typically look for this feature in a booster and might consider upgrading to Graco’s UpNGo model that includes these latches. The latches aren’t needed for booster seat safety, though, and their absence does make this version of the UpNGo more sleek for travel. The UpNGo Backless Booser checks the boxes that my husband and I were looking for in a booster seat and am grateful to have received it through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. We recommend it without reservation, especially for people looking for a comfortable and lightweight booster for travel!

It’s really easy to move from car to car. Honestly, it’s as easy as having a hand available to carry it. The cup holders are easy to attach and nice for when the car seat is staying put, but make it a little bulkier to tote around. The fabric is nice and my daughter was comfortable in her seat. I love that the fabric is machine washable and dryable. It feels durable and I think it will last for a long time! Overall I think this is a great booster and I highly recommend it.

The handles make it easy to carry when transitioning between vehicles (even for my kids or their grandparents) and its slim design makes it perfect as an additional car seat to have on hand for friend or carpools. It comes with removable cup holders, but I could fit 3 car seats across in a CR-V (with 2 other larger forward facing harness car seats) when the cup holders were removed. My very tall 6 year old found it comfortable enough that he now wants to use this as his everyday seat. I wish there was a way to latch to booster to the seat of the car so it doesn’t slide around, but unfortunately that feature is not available with this model. However, I do appreciate that the cover is removable and machine washable, a must-have with active and hungry children! Overall, a great backless booster that is simple and easy-to-use! Driving a minivan, we have a decent amount of room in the third row where my oldest child sits. Installing the booster was simple and left enough room for my daughter to buckle independently- super important for a mother who still has to buckle several kids when we go places. It’s compact and lightweight characteristics makes it simple to transfer between family vehicles. The cover is easily removable should I need to wash it, but most grime comes off with a wipe if I get to it quick enough. This easy to install backless booster fosters independence my oldest child craves without compromising safety while riding in the car. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For a booster that is advertised as lightweight and portable, I found this to be a bit cumbersome in my Subaru Outback. Not only did it not take up any less real estate on our seat than our previous high-back booster, but the back of the booster keeps shifting to rest on the seat buckle, which has made it harder for my six-year-old to buckle herself. Overall, she is happy with the booster because having a backless booster makes her feel very mature, and I'm glad that it checks off all of my safety boxes, so for now, this has been our go-to booster. I was happy to receive this booster as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Things I like: The booster is easy to move from car to car, and the handle is a nice ergonomic touch. The fabric cover is easy to remove, and we've already washed it once (I'm not a habitual washer of car seats, but this one makes the process easy enough to do without moaning and groaning). I am happy to report that the process of taking off/putting on the cover is easy, and the fabric washes well. My kiddo has confirmed that the booster is very comfortable, and overall, we're happy. Neither of us noticed the belt guides as anything special, but buckling herself is a skill she had before we moved to this booster, and the color coding was a user-friendly way to seamlessly transition from her other booster to this one, so that's likely a good indicator of ease if someone is moving from a car seat to this booster. Things I didn't like: The buckling problem has been frustrating enough that I might switch back to our old booster. If we hadn't received this booster from Stellar, I don't know that I'd return it, but I might consider finding a slimmer profile booster, even if it did have a high back.

We have two kids in boosters and often transport a third for play dates, carpool to soccer, etc. This seat is super lightweight, which makes it very portable (it also has a handle). We took it on a family trip and it easily slipped into our car seat cover along with our second, backed booster, as a checked bag. The seat positioned my 8 year old properly to be buckled up, and he wasn’t sliding off it like kids do with other travel boosters we’ve seen. My son gave it a “thumbs up” for comfort, had no complaints after the 8 hours we spent sitting in it as we were driving around, and had no trouble buckling himself in, even though we were in a rental for our trip. When we have a third kid in the backseat this fits between the backed boosters in my CR-V and means all the kids are safely buckled (note, you do need to remove the cup holders to fit 3 seats in a smaller car like mine). It’s compact enough to store in my trunk, but well built so that it’s fine for daily use. I know my kids (and a friend) are safely buckled because of this booster. This is a great booster, especially for folks who want a quality, comfortable booster with the option to quickly stow it away.

She found the seat to be very comfortable. The armrests go more straight back than our other off-brand booster so it feels a lot roomier. The padding is also thicker which is nice. She loves the cup holders. She’s always putting something in them - cups or knickknacks. Of note - they are separate pieces in the box. The clip sturdiness would be one area of concern for me. If you had a narrower vehicle the cupholders could come off to save width. The seat is pretty wide. I have a 3 row SUV with captains chairs and it takes up the whole captain chair. If she’s not good about positioning it in the center, the seat can block the buckle. Small irritation but something to be aware of especially if your child isn’t the best at or is particularly fretful over getting buckled. The weight is great. She’s actually taken to bringing the seat inside the house to sit at the desk for doing her homework so the light weight makes it very easy for her to go back and forth without me getting involved.

Because it doesn’t have latches, it’s easy to move from car to car and seat to seat, with three kids we often need to reposition our kids on longer trips. One thing that we really likes about this one was that the clip that goes on the seat belt stays put, on our other boosters the clips sticks to the seat belt in a way that the kids can’t get the belt on easily, and this seat completely removes that frustration and quickly became a favorite. Background: I am a 36 year old mom of two, ages 3 and 6. Prior to testing this out my 6yr old daughter mainly rides between a high back booster with me and a backless booster similar to this one. This is our first Britax seat. Things I love. I love the weight, and ease of transferring between vehicles for this reason. I think between the weight and built in handle this would be a dream to travel with, note only to bring on a plane but being a default seat with grandparents, so light. That said, my daughter really disliked how the seat isn’t attached/latched to the seat, she complained about it sliding around. I would honestly take a slightly heavier seat to bring back a way to attach it to the seat. Fabric of the seat is decent, I don’t foresee this pilling, but I didn’t find it to be anything special either. Comfort-wise my daughter wished it was more plush. She was very vocal about not loving it, but she’s also in a very whiney phase of life at the moment so it’s hard to use that as a con. Washability and ease of removal is a huge pro for me. My kids regularly eat car breakfast en route to school so the ability to toss this in the wash after a protein shake spills is a game changer. Overall I think this is a good seat but it’s not great, I wouldn’t use it as a permanent seat unless my child was middle seat of 3 across. It just slides around too much.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was delighted to try this as part of the stellar product panel. We love britax, and this is a great option for boosters. Have also used marathon and high back booster by Britax. Using britax makes me feel safe. I will only give a 5 star review to a product that allows the booster to secure via latch and this does not. I love that this has removable cup holders for cleaning, or for making more narrow. We didn’t use the cup holders bc we are 3 across, but I am not certain they would hold a yeti or Owala or Gatorade water bottle. This does not have the heft that our other Britax products do- which might be a selling point if you want to take it for travel. We have other boosters by graco, chicco, mi-fold, bubble bum and harmony. This is most comparable to the harmony. Our 6 year old says this is his favorite. I find it slides around more than I’d like but he buckles himself with ease (not true of all of them!) and the should strap sits well over his shoulders. We don’t use the additional positioner. This is super light. It’s expensive, and without the heft or the latch, I would probably be considering Joie and Cosco versions (I do wish the cupholders retracted - that is a cool feature of joie; chicco they pop in which still takes up some space). Overall, I have a lot of trust in the Britax brand and this became our everyday booster!

The Britax UpNGo Backless Booster is a solid booster seat, and it's surprisingly compact. It actually fits within one seat of my small sedan. I think the best features of the booster are it has a handle and is fairly lightweight at under four pounds. I think it's great that my young children don't mind holding the seat themselves. If my children ever need to carry a booster seat to a friend's car, they won't need me to hold it for them. Recently my child had a field trip, and the booster came in handy since one of his classmates didn't take a booster seat to school. In addition to being convenient and compact, it still has cup holders that my children expect from a booster seat. The booster's cover is made of flame-retardant-free fabric, is removable, and is machine washable and dryer safe. I appreciated how easy it is to wash and dry after my child's field trip. There was a shoe print and crumbs all over it, but it looked as good as new after a quick spin through the washer and dryer. The booster seat also comes with a seat belt positioner, so I don't have to worry about the belt digging into my children's necks. My younger child's feedback was that he wishes the seat had more padding. He didn't feel it was as comfortable as another booster seat we bought for him previously. However, I would definitely recommend this booster seat for shorter trips or errands, such as a car ride to the movie theater.
