Great vacuums with great power!

I was skeptical about purchasing this vacuum only because I've only ever used vacuums with a cord. I always thought that battery powered vacuums had less suction power than those with a cord, but this one definitely proved me wrong. I love that it comes apart in multiple places and has changeable attachments. So it's perfect for vacuuming the floor, using it to clean floorboards and seats in your car, or getting dust off ceiling fans or ceilings. There's so many uses and it's light weight makes it easy to use and maneuver. The removable chamber makes it super easy to clean. You can simple rinse out or put in dishwasher by itself for a thorough cleaning. The filter are super easy to remove and rinse also. You set them out, let them completely dry and then they are good as new. My grandmother ended up purchasing this vacuum after I got mine and she liked it. The crevice attachment makes it perfect for vacuuming and getting dust in hard-to-reach places and going around your baseboards. It allows her to attach the crevice tool to the end of the hose and walk around the baseboards to clean. No having to bend over or get on your hands and knees to dust. Also no climbing ladders or chairs in order to wipe off ceilings or ceiling fan blades. If you have a much larger home, I would probably recommended ordering a second battery just so you can have one charging while the other is in use. I clean houses sometimes in my free time and the larger houses take a bit longer, so I have a second backup battery. But overall, the battery life is amazing, and I usually only run my vacuum on the low setting and it still has more than enough suction power to pick up even in carpet. One battery usually will last a good 35-40 minutes, and that's plenty of time to get the cleaning done that I need to. I gave it 4 stars only because of a couple of design flaws. The vacuum still works amazing but I feel these should be pointed out. The teeth on the vacuum head attachment could be made higher. The are too low so it will not pick up my dog's pieces of dog food he drops, instead it just pushes them around. I have to pick up the vacuum head and set it down over the food for it to pick it up. I would like to note my dog is a Great Dane so his dog food pieces are larger, but still are standard sizes for dog food. The teeth on the vacuum attachment are too low so it pushes the food around as I vacuum instead of picking it up. Another design flaw I'd like to note is when you vacuum over some things that are longer, (for example, a piece of pine straw), it will end up across the opening to the hose instead of going up it. This is inside the vacuum head attachment. On most vacuums, you could simple stick your hand/finger in and remove it. Because the opening on this vacuum head is so narrow, if anything gets stuck behind the roller, you have to completely unscrew and take off the cover piece in order to remove it. The opening is so narrow, there's no room to stick even a finger in to pull something out or knock it loose. Other than the couple of minor design flaws, this vacuum is definitely worth the price. Has amazing suction power, easy to use and maneuver, lots of uses, lightweight, and durable. Overall, I'm glad I purchased this vacuum and won't be going back to a vacuum with a cord.

Not as advertised

I’ve had the racket pro for about 5 weeks now, the advertised “tangle free hair” is false! No it hasn’t rapped about the actual rolled but it does clog around the wheels stopping it from rolling and skips over most hair leaving it stuck in the fiber strip behind the roller. It doesn’t pick up anything over the size of a hair it will take 3 to 4 passes to pick up dirt and will not suck up a leaf at all. If you live in the country with any sand dirt lefts pine straw grass and your dog is bigger than a miniature Chihuahua this vacuum is not for you! I bought this vacuum strictly due to the fact it’s advertised as a “pet hair” vacuum but now I know I would have been better off buying a Fishers-Price toy vacuum!

I got this about a month ago. The purpose was to do light cleaning during the week. We have a German Shepherd, Retriever, and a Daniff, so it was more to pick up the dog hair on our hardwood and rugs. The suction is great, but the hair does get caught in the vacuum. The dust collector is also not very big, so I do have to empty it pretty often. The best way I can explain the use of the vacuum is really like a broom with a little dust pan. It's meant for light work, and NOT for homeowners with dogs with long hair, UNLESS you are okay with the hair getting caught in the vacuum. Aside from that, the features are great, it's easy to use, and it lasts about 30 minutes for me before the power dies since I do use it on my rugs as well as wood floors. It's a good vacuum, but certainly NOT for the price.

the vacuum cannot stand up. if i have to move something out of the way while vacuuming i have to lay the vacuum down or lean it against something. the vacuum cannot pick up along baseboards, you have to sweep debris away from baseboards in order for the vacuum to pick it up. i had a Shark several years ago and that one was very good at picking up near baseboards and could stand alone.

I want to be able to give this vacuum 5 stars and if I would have written the review after the first month it would be. I purchased the vacuum in November but didn’t open and use it until March when I got my new home. I was immediately in love, the ease of the cordless features along with the power of the vacuum with my kids and one dog. But here I am 6 months after starting to use it, I empty it after every use and all of a sudden as I vacuum it leave behind a pile of junk when I transition from one room to the next. I open to see if it is plugged and 50% of the time it’s not even plugged so it just seems to not suction the debris. I’m so disappointed in this investment currently.

Loving this vacuum! I find myself using it almost daily because its so quick and easy, and even a little fun. I ran our Roomba Robot on our carpet prior to testing the Shark, and the Roomba does a great job, but the Shark picked up extra stuff that the Roomba didn't! Great addition to your clean house. This made me a neat freak after seeing all the dust and debri that it collects.

This little machine is a BEAST! I have a Pomeranian who sheds pretty heavily. I zip through my house with my lightweight Shark and I swear you can’t even tell a pet lives here. And the light on the front illuminates the hair so it makes it sort of like a game. Lol! I’m so pleased—absolutely recommend!

I had a full blown vacuum that was fine but if I had little messes, I wouldn’t bring out the big vacuum. I am so happy I ordered this one. It picks up the big messes and the little one. I have a dog and it get the hair no problem.

I bought my Shark IZ162H vacuum about a month ago, and overall I am very happy with it. PROS: 1. It’s very easy to pick up and do small vacuuming job that I wouldn’t have done if it meant getting out my old “big” vacuum. 2. It’s fairly quiet even when the motor is close to my head while vacuuming overhead. I borrowed a friend’s Dyson which is the in same product category, and it was much louder to the point of me wearing ear plugs (don’t know the exact model of the Dyson). 3. Even though the dust cup fills up much more quickly than a big vacuum bag would, I get a sense of satisfaction seeing all the debris the vacuum has collected each time I empty it. That’s probably just me. 4. Finding things that I accidentally sucked up is much easier than with a big vacuum bag. 5. This model is billed as one that handles pet hair well, and the included brush attachment does quite a good job at collecting cat hair (but see CON #1). 6. The battery life so far has been adequate. As I said, I do a lot of short vacuum jobs, but when I do a general multi-room job I haven’t run out of juice, but you do need to keep and eye on the battery level. 7. I’ve cleaned the filters once, and the process was easy. 8. The motorhead seems to work pretty well on both bare floors and my low-pile carpet. 9. The on/off switch stays in place without you holding it. My friend’s Dyson’s switch had to be constantly pulled to the on position to operate which I didn’t like at all. CONS: 1. The included brush attachment doesn’t swivel or rotate at all, and that would be a real plus especially when brushing things overhead. 2. I bought the dust brush attachment separately, and while I like it well enough, I wish is rotated instead of just pivoted (you’ll have to see the pictures) since it seems most of my vacuuming wants the brush rotated 90 degrees from how it’s made. 3. There’s no warning when the dust cup gets full, and it can fill up quicker than you think. You start to loose suction when it’s too full. OTHER NOTES: 1. The model I bought has replaceable batteries. Consumer Reports does not recommend any cordless vacuum right now since they say the batteries wear out too quickly giving a too-short service life. This is something you’ll have to take into account, but the replaceable batteries will extend the service life but at a cost.

The problem with this pet vacuum is it has 2 small plastic wheels on the bottom of the roller that just suck pet hair into them. The hair gets so wadded up that the wheels stop rolling and the vacuum stops gliding across hard surfaces. Pretty annoying, dont know how there r&d overlooked this on a pet vacuum

Works great BUT brushroll doesn't self clean

We received this vacuum in April for an anniversary gift. It worked great for about three months and suddenly just stopped picking up ANYTHING. The roller would run and it sounded like it was working, but nothing would appear in the dust pin and the floors weren't clean. I sat down and spent about 10-15 minutes cleaning out the roller and it was completely clogged with hair and dust balls. Fortunately, I was able to clean it out and it worked perfectly again.

Definitely wasted my money on this vacuum. I've been a shark fan and consumer for many many years with many products I was very happy with. This is not one of them. I was excited for the pet hair brush rolls which do work great. Hair does not get wrapped around. That is the only good thing. Otherwise the hair builds up and it won't "suck". I have to take it apart every time I vacuum. I also don't enjoy sticking my hand in the canister to clean it out every time. I wish I did not purchase this product.

Suction power is good. Vacuums everything and no longer have to worry about hair getting stuck at the bottom of the vacuum. There is still some getting stuck in the tiny rollers at the bottom. Vacuum is also extremely easy to use.

Great performance with regular maintenance

So several reviews have already called out some normal problem areas - specifically dust/hair getting trapped in the front wheels and behind the brushroll. But you can, with just a pair of needle nose pliers, manage these issues as part of the regular recommended monthly maintenance. Wash the dust cup and filters, flip over the brush head, and use the pliers to remove trapped hair and dirt from the wheels. For particularly bad wheel tangles, I've found a gasket/O-ring pick to work very well - just use the pick to pull/tear the tangled hair while turning the wheel, and most/all of it comes up in a minute. These are issues that could be fixed with some hardware redesigns - if the front wheels were removable along with the maintenance access plate, that would solve one problem. If the brushroll was also removeable along with the maintenance access plate, that would solve another. Beyond that this is a good vacuum. One full battery charge does just about 500sqft of hardwood on normal power and two rugs on high power. We have two cats, one short-hair and one long-hair, and this vacuum handles both nicely. The dust bin removes easily and dumps easily as well. The vacuum is easy to maneuver around obstacles, gets under couches easily, and is not that bad for storage when tossed in the closet and leaned up against a railing. It's also very lightweight overall, and is a breeze for myself and my SO to use. Even our cats are used to the noise now and just ignore it as it goes by.

Shark has too many products and too little information about each one. All I need is to know which battery I need for a new vac. I want features comparable to my old Shark but they can't help with that because they keep re-inventing the basic models. What is the difference between a Pet Plus and a Pet Pro?

The dirt container is larger than expected. The brush system definitely doesn't get hair caught or wrapped around it but the dirt gets trapped just past the rollers causing loss of suction. Also makes a big mess trying to get the clog out.. I had a shark flex ion duo 2 prior but the brushes stopped rolling and couldn't get the parts or get it repaired. I actually preferred that system to this new one. This is the first shark I was disappointed with.
