Description

The Camellia Brand signature bean – creamy, hearty, and beloved in New Orleans and across America’s Gulf Coast. It’s an old New Orleans tradition to cook up Red Beans and Rice every Monday, which was historically the laundry day. Simmer or slow-cook them to creamy perfection with the holy trinity of vegetables and add ham hocks and other seasoning meats if you like. Plate them as is or with smoked sausage, fried chicken, or a pan-fried pork chop on the side. Like all of our beans, Camellia’s Red Kidneys are non-GMO, gluten-free, and meet the “Hayward Standard” – the name our growers gave our bean quality standard – which exceeds the top USDA requirements.     Tastes like home

    Camellia beans are the best for red beans and rice! They are great quality and way more fresh than other store bought dried kidney beans. I am so grateful there is reasonable shipping offers for out of state/Louisiana deliveries! (I used to haul A LOT of beans in my luggage when we lived overseas— one of my top most missed things from home!)

    First met your product in 1990 in a NOLA Schwegmnans grocery store & have never looked back. Theres no reason to use beans sourced from any other retailer. None. Do yourself a favor & source all your beans from this company. You will never regret it

    The best!

    I've only used these red kidney beans to make red beans and rice...so far, but it's so good people ask for the recipe. I kind of made up my recipe, but I do specify that it won't be right without Camellia brand red kidney beans and plenty of Crystal brand hot sauce in the beans and on the cooked rice. I make a big batch with a smoked ham hock, andouille sausage and a stick of butter. I parcel out what's left and put it in the freezer and it freezes beautifully! Then, take out what you need the next time and gently thaw in the microwave, then put in a frying pan with a little water and cook gently. I live just North of Seattle, but you'd never know it when you eat my red beans and rice. Thank you Camellia brand!

    Im a Cali gurl but my husband is from New Orleans. He introduced me to the camelllia red bean. I can't buy anything else; its just a perfect bean. I cook in my insta pot and have a great meal anytime!
