Small Red Beans - 16oz - Good & Gather: Dried

Few pantry staples are as versatile or delicious as these Small Red Beans from Good & Gather™. Great for making classic red beans & rice, you can also use them to make sweet paste for desserts, mix them into salads with other beans and veggies, and much more. An excellent source of fiber, these red beans are also kosher, so you can feel good about sharing them with the whole family.

Directions
Rinse and remove any foreign material from beans.

Stovetop – to prepare 1 lb. dry beans
1. Soak beans. Choose Quick or Overnight.
A. Quick – Bring 8 cups water and beans to a rapid boil. Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat; cover. Let stand 1 hour; drain and rinse.
B. Overnight – Cover beans with 8 cups water. Let stand 6 to 8 hours; drain and rinse.
2. Cook beans. Bring 6 cups water and soaked beans just to a boil; reduce heat and cover. Simmer gently over LOW heat 1 ½ to 2 hours or until beans are tender. Drain.

Electric Pressure Cooker – to prepare 1 lb. dry beans
1. Combine unsoaked beans, 6 cups water, 1 Tbsp. oil and 1-2 tsp. salt in 6-qt. electric pressure cooker. Cover and lock lid closed, making sure steam valve is in sealing position.
2. Set to pressure cook on HIGH for 30 minutes.
3. Allow pressure to release naturally for 20 minutes, then carefully turn steam valve to venting position to release remaining pressure. Remove lid and drain.
