On cool days, you'll love creating a warm, hearty dinner when you have 16-Bean Soup Starter from Good & Gather™ stocked in your pantry. This 16-bean soup mix has just the right mix of bean varieties to make a satisfying soup that's sure to delight. Simply season to your liking and then serve on its own as a vegetarian option, or add chicken or beef to delight the meat-eaters in your family. You can even mix it into your chili recipe for a little extra oomph. However you choose to serve it, you're sure to appreciate that this bean soup mix provides you with an excellent source of fiber.
Directions
Rinse and remove any foreign material from beans.
Stovetop – to prepare entire package
1. Soak beans. Choose Quick or Overnight.
A. Quick – Bring 8 cups water and beans to a rapid boil. Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat; cover. Let stand 1 hour; drain and rinse.
B. Overnight – Cover beans with 8 cups water. Let stand 6 to 8 hours; drain and rinse.
2. Cook beans. Bring 7 1/2 cups water (or broth) and soaked beans just to a boil; reduce heat and cover partway. Simmer gently over LOW heat 1 ½ to 2 hours or until beans are tender.

I received the 16 bean soup starter today m, and I was very happy to receive the order, until; I opened the box. There were tiny bugs all over the inside of the box. I took the box outside, and drop it at the door. It was gross. I called Target, and they deeply apologized and refund the full amount without returning the items. I really appreciate it.

THE BUGS ARE ALIVE
I bought 2 bags, I started soaking the beans and within 20 minutes saw at least 15+ BLACK SMALL bugs SWIMMING IN THE WATER AS THEY DROWNED. It was a horrific experience and I had to dispose of them immediately. The other bag Thankfully ended up being OK and had no bugs in it at all. I soaked them and shook them for an hour to be sure. However I don't like the odds of finding beans with bugs half of the time like it seems other people had as well. Get your mixed beans somewhere else

I embessihed this with some ham, a can of sliced carrots, a can of kidney beans and a can of tomato sauce and it turned out very fine. I am pretty sure it would ok to follow the directions on the bag but I enjoy adding my own touch. Good product, very economical and hearty food.
