Ally, we're sorry to hear the scent of Cascade Platinum Action Pacs is overwhelming, and that they leave a taste on your dishes. We wouldn't expect Cascade to impart the of the product taste into food. However, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. We strive to impress you with the cleaning power of Cascade, Elizabeth, so we're sorry this wasn't the case with your recent experience using our Platinum Plus ActionPacs™. This isn't something we'd expect, especially since our products undergo such extensive quality testing to ensure optimal performance. We're here to help and would like to share that hard water and other factors may sometimes have an effect on cleaning performance. Dishes that are still dirty could be caused by several different reasons. One is that the water pressure may be too low. Run the dishwasher when no other household demands for water are running (showers, laundry, etc). Another could be that the wash cycle may not be long enough, so try a longer/heavy cycle. Lastly, the dishwasher may be overloaded. Make sure items aren't too close together or stacked too tightly. In regard to the residue left behind, this doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it can be caused by a few reasons. First, double check the dishwasher sprayer arms are clean and can move easily and make sure the dispenser cup isn’t blocked by a large dish/utensil. Additionally, the water pressure may be too low. Try to running dishwasher when no other demands for water are running (e.g., shower, washing machine, watering the lawn, etc). If everything else is fine, check to make sure the dishwasher is getting enough water. To check for this, put a large measuring cup or mug in your dishwasher on the top rack, open end up and run the dishwasher. When the cycle is done, the cup should be completely filled with water.
