Q: If it's 28 loads per box using how much of the detergent per load?

submitted by KLMN - 2 years ago
  • A: You do not need much powder and no way no need to fill the powder slot all the way, it just need about half the fill or 30 grams of powder and a little bit 6g in the pre wash section. If you put too kuch it cause WHITE CHULK RESIDUE FILM to form on your dishes since the machine can not wash away excessive powder and extra powder does not help clean at all

submitted byZiggo - 4 months ago
  • A: Great question! You'll know you're getting the best amount of powder by pouring it directly into the dishwasher’s dispenser. Because each machine is different, as are individual water conditions, the number of loads on the box is an approximate average. To best clean your dishes, follow the dishwasher’s instructions regarding the recommended amount of powder. If you can't find them, we suggest filling the dispenser cup. Note, if your dishwasher has 2 dispensing cups, fill both.

  • A: Check your manual-washer manufacturers recommend much less than those trying to get you to use more or their product. Adjust baaed on water hardness. I use only 1 tbls in each cup!

    submitted byLee B - 2 years ago

Q: How many uses are in the box?

submitted by Skeez - 2 years ago
  • A: Our Cascade powders have an average of 75 grams per load, Skeez. For a 75oz box it has about 28 loads.

submitted byCascade - 2 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: You just need to add about 30 gran for main wash and 6 grams for prewash, so each box should give you about 60 wash. DO NOT FILL THE POWDER SLOT ALL THE WAY, IT CAUSE A WHITE RESIDUE FROM TOO MUCH DETERGENT TO FORM ON YOUR DISHES.

Seth - 1 month ago, Verified purchaser
Count my household among those which went from happily using Cascade powder for many years, to suddenly having a gross white residue on everything about 8 months ago. I spent money on having a dishwasher repair person come out twice to try and diagnose the issue. I have since switched brands and the residue is going away.
1 reply from Cascade team - 1 month ago
We're sorry your recent Cascade Powder Dishwasher Detergent left a white residue, Seth. Our products undergo many quality checks to ensure they get to you with the best results, so we're disappointed to hear this. Cascade Platinum will help keep dishwasher interiors sparkling when used continuously in your dishwasher - as long it starts out sparking clean. If it isn't a brand-new dishwasher, use our Cascade Machine Cleaner to get the dishwasher to a beautiful starting state. Cascade Platinum will keep the sparkle going, but we recommend that machine cleaners be used once a month (in an average-use home) for an ultimate clean. So we can help you get back to sparkling clean dishes, please call us at (800) 765-5516 Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM EST.

Not really worth it - 1 month ago, Verified purchaser
Does not clean dishes. The dishes will come out with either residue, chunks of food, or both. I wanted to get this since it comes in a paper looking box and hoped it would be easier to clean and recycle than the plastic containers but this box I sent even recyclable since it’s lined.

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you're not getting that Cascade clean we expect for you. Our products are thoroughly tested to be effective when used as directed, and we'll be certain to share your experience with our team. There are few reasons general food stains wouldn't come off during a cycle in the dishwasher, such as overloading, water not being hot enough, or it not getting to all dishes (like if the arm is blocked from moving). Please give us a call at (800) 765-5516 so that we can learn more and see how we can help.

This leaves a residue on everything especially glassware. I had to hand wash all my glasses and silverware after using this.
1 reply from Cascade team - 2 months ago
We're sorry to hear that this was your experience, as Cascade goes through strict quality checks to ensure that you can get the best possible results. To ensure that Cascade dissolves quickly and completely, we recommend making sure that the dispenser cup isn't blocked and that the dishwasher arms are able to move freely. As well, make sure your machine is being run when no other household demands for water are also running. We hope this is helpful, and please give us a call at (800) 765-5516 if there's anything more we can assist you with.

These days it’s not easy to find any store that stocks powdered dishwasher soap. This is puzzling because any appliance technician will tell you that powder is much better than pods. Also, you know that secondary, smaller soap dispenser in the dishwasher that the pod won’t fit in? Do not leave it empty, it’s an important step in cleaning your dishes and shouldn’t be ignored. Powder is your friend.

Leaves film and spots no matter how much or how little we try using. Switching back to pods.
1 reply from Cascade team - 3 months ago
We're sorry to hear your dishes weren't left spotless like we expect from the many quality checks we have in place, Kyloren. Unfortunately, hard water can be a nuisance. It can fight against the detergent to allow minerals and food particles to settle back on dishes, which results in a film. To get the best results, be sure your water is at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit/49 degrees Celsius. Also, when loading the machine, be sure all items will get the full spray and that your spray arms aren’t blocked. We'd like to get more information to help, as well as share your experience with our Quality team. When you have a minute, please get in touch with us at (800) 765-5516.

The formula changed, and it ruined all of my dishes for weeks before I figured out it was the detergent, and not my dishwasher. I bought a different brand and it works perfectly. Now I’m stuck scrubbing the white chalky film off all my dishes that I thought was from a broken dishwasher. Will no longer buy cascade. And a lot of my dishes are now permanently ruined

Put less powder, to avoid residue

Ziggo - 4 months ago, Verified purchaser
DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH POWDER IN THE MACHINE, IT CAUSE WHITE CHILCK RESIDUE FILM ON DISHES. For all who get white residue, it is probably due to putting too much powder in machine. You do not need that much powder. Just feel half the way with powder and close the lid. Put a little in the prewash or pour a little on the machine door. You will get the best result possible.

I never thought I'd review dishwasher detergent, let alone have a strong 5 star opinion about it, but here I am. I've been using this powder for a couple years now after learning that the detergent pods are a total rip off. This powder is super effective at cleaning, and WAY more effective cost-wise compared to pods. I've used this in two different homes with two different dishwashers, and it really gets my dishes sparkling clean every time. The cost is unbeatable, and this box lasts quite a long time, even though I'm doing a load pretty much daily. This is definitely my preferred brand and I'll continue to buy it!

My wife just bought this stuff and our plates went from looking crystal clear to basically covered in chalk. Do not buy this scam product. So much residue left on the dishes.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 7 months ago
We're sorry that you're finding a white chalky residue left behind on your dishes, HChris. One of the leading causes of white, cloudy film on dishes and glasses is hard water. Hot water helps prevent spotting, so double-check that your dishwasher is washing with water that is at least 120°F (check your water heater). Run hot water at your kitchen sink before starting the dishwasher to help reach this temperature. If you’re still experiencing filmy residue, you could have hard water, and using Cascade Power Dry Rinse Aid can help prevent spotting on glasses and dishes. Its sheeting action helps keep water from hanging onto your dishes—that way drops don't stick around and leave residue. We always want you to have sparkling dishes, and would like to gather more details to further assist you with this. Please give us a call at 1-800-765-5516 from 9AM – 6PM EST Monday – Friday.

I just want a simple answer. HOW MANY LOADS OF DISHES DOES A 75 OZ BOX OF POWDER CLEAN? I simply want to find out the cost per load. My apologies if I overlooked the answer somewhere else.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 7 months ago
Thanks for reaching out, Pat. We don't have a way to estimate how many loads because it depends on your specific dishwasher. We would suggest checking the instruction manual for the dishwasher to see if it gives a measurement for how much detergent the dispenser holds, and see if they can get an approximate amount by dividing that into the 75 oz. If you need any assistance or have any questions, please call us at (800) 765-5516 Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM EST.

This detergent is garbage! It leaves hard to remove residue. I used this in the past with no issues and use it appropriate amounts. The problem is not me or my dishwasher. I switched back to the pods and my dishes are perfectly clean. It’s almost like they realized people would buy cheaper powder that doesn’t release micro plastics, and made the cheaper powder worse so we have to buy pods😅
1 reply from Cascade team - 8 months ago
We're sorry to learn you're having this experience, Morgan, with Cascade Powder Dishwasher Detergent. Because our Quality Team works so hard to make sure every box of Cascade Powder meets our high standards, we only expect you'll be happy with the results you get. It's possible your water may be hard. The heavy mineralization in hard water can reduce the effectiveness of the soap and lead to residue not being washed away. Since you've noted that ActionPacs work better, that's another sign your water is hard, as there's special ingredients in them to combat hard water's tendency to cause residue. We'd be happy to talk more with you about this, and help you keep your dishes looking their sparkling best. Call us Mondays through Fridays, from 9 AM to 6 PM, EST. Our number is 1 (800) 765-5516.
