They are the endangered Sri Lankan elephant, the Indian elephant, and the critically endangered Sumatran elephant, native to the island of Sumatra. Asian elephants tend to be a bit smaller than African elephants, with most males coming in no more than 9 feet tall at the shoulder and females usually just over 7 feet tall. From nose to tail, the bodies are usually anywhere from 18 to 21 feet. Obviously, our model is considerably shorter at just three inches long.
