It also can be recognized by its hunchback appearance. This genus is prevalent in South American rainforests and swamps, but this blue one is most common in Guyana and Northern Brazil. These frogs are great parents and carrry tadpoles on their backs to safe watering spots in trees, pockets of water or or into bromeliads. It takes six weeks for the tadpole to develop into an adult. Although not classified as endangered, poison dart frog habitat is subject to degradation due to logging and agriculture. Also up until recently, these frogs were captured as a part of the exotic pet trade and during transport many died.
