A: This item is waterproof. Water will not penetrate through the liner.

Surface color under mat may show through
I thought this would perfectly match my Carrara Marble tile floors, but the mat is not entirely opaque. My cabinet has woodgrain-colored melamine on the bottom and sides, and the tan color shows through the mat. See photo. It's good quality but I'm not sure what qualifies this as an "under sink mat" compared to any other non-porous shelf liner. OK, it's wider than most other shelf liners (which are probably sized for cupboards), but it doesn't have edges that would keep a large spill from spilling beyond the edge of the mat.

I wish this came in a longer length because it would have been nice to have one solid piece under my sink instead of two. However, I do really like the product. It was easy to cut with scissors, and the dots on the liner helped me keep the cut straight. I can tell by the feel of the liner that it will be easy to wipe clean in the future.
