Q: Are the feet rubber or hard plastic?

submitted by Stacey - 8 years ago
  • A: That means this will slid across a hard wood floor when you step on it. Ugh

submitted byMase - 5 years ago
  • A: You can buy a four pack of rubber covers for the feet. I've used them on various items. Customers shouldn't have to replace the ones on the product and they should come with rubber tips but the replacements are only a few dollars and worth the added safety.

    submitted byAnna S - 5 years ago
  • A: The feet are hard plastic.

    submitted byMomOf2 - 8 years ago

Q: Are the steps covered w/non-slip rubber?

submitted by oceanplayer - 5 years ago
  • A: No, it is bare painted metal. The metal is formed into raised lines about 1/4 inch wide every 3/4 inches. It is very slippery with socks.

submitted byAndrew - 5 months ago
  • A: This item has slip resistant material on the steps.

Q: How thick is this stool when folded? I need to slide it into a small space.

submitted by claylady - 8 years ago
  • A: The step stool is 3.35 inches thick when folded.

    submitted bySparkkle003 - 8 years ago
  • A: It's about 3.5" deep at the deepest point (the bottom step) when folded. I keep it in a very small space, between the fridge and the wall. Sometimes between boxes in a walk-in closet.

Q: What is the height of the top step to the floor open ladder?

submitted by CM - 5 months ago
  • A: Almost exactly 16 inches, I just measured it.

Q: Is it safe for a toddler to use to reach the kitchen counter to help make cakes or cookies with an adult present?

submitted by nteresa - 2 years ago
  • A: This Cosco step stool is sturdy and suitable for your purposes, however, the Cosco Kitchen Stepper is a popular choice for toddler chefs because of the additional safety bars and larger top step. You can view this product on the Cosco Products website by searching "stepper." Thank you for your question and enjoy your day!

Q: The relatively high cost for the 2-year protection plan ($7) gives me pause. What is the most common failure of this step stool?

submitted by Dobber - 3 years ago
  • A: From the Manufacturer: Retailers often offer additional protection plans on items, and while these certainly come in handy from time to time, it does not appear that this would offer you much benefit on this particular item. Other than occasional damage in shipping, there are no common failures, and as a manufacturer we already offer a limited 10 year warranty on this item. You can register on the Cosco Products website. Thank you for your question!

Q: Customers have mention the first step is being too narrow in depth for their comfort and safety. Can anyone please tell depth of the first step/rung?

Q: How high are each of the steps?

submitted by Kerrikter - 3 years ago
  • A: The lower step measures 7.48" from the ground and the upper step measures 15.75" from the ground.

Q: HI this question is for anyone,WILL it be high enough to reach to hang blinds in my window?thanks

submitted by nak2020 - 4 years ago
  • A: The upper step is 15.75 inches high. Max reach is determined by taking an average person with a 12" reach and placing them on the top step. For this step stool, max reach would be 7.8 feet. If you and your window are standard heights, this should be a a good choice for hanging blinds. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Cosco 2 Step stool needs improvement

We bought the Cosco 2 Step stool to use as a replacement for our 30 year old Cosco one step stool. We are returning this newer stool because the bottom step is dangerous and not deep enough. The top step is still not deep enough (almost half of my foot hangs off the step). The handle bar is not high enough to help a person hang on when needed. It's much safer to buy the Cosco 3 step stool because the steps are deeper and safer. I hope Cosco will recall this 2 step stool before a lot of people have injuries from the steps being too small and not deep enough. The quality of the metal and color are fine. Just needs a design change.

Just right for kids in a narrow bathroom with high countertops

Perfect height for little kids trying to reach the 36" high counter tops, and for narrow bathrooms. The smaller lower step reduces the footprint so you can still get past the sink area. Looks like they used to make this with a nonstick grip which they don't any more, a double-edged sword: possible to slip, but with kids way easier to clean.

Slippery and Dangerous with Socks, does NOT have slip-resistant steps

The feet are hard plastic and not rubber. The steps are solid painted metal with some 1/4 inch thick raised lines spaced about 3/4 inches apart, but all the surfaces are smooth to the touch. Very slippery with socks. When using barefoot, there was acceptable traction between the step and my bare feet. The instructions on the underside state "Proper Set-Up and Use: 6. Wear clean, slip-resistant shoes." The product description states "Slip-resistant steps" and so I expected slip-resistant steps. These are not. The first product photo is also misleading because of the lighting. The raised lines look black in the photo - as if they are made of an embedded rubber or other high-friction material. But the raised lines are made of the same material as the rest of the step. I understand that higher-quality products are more expensive, and there is a legitimate market for lower-quality items. But, lying in a product description and with misleading product photos to make a product appear better than it is is immoral and scummy, especially when safety is involved. The manufacturer properly labelled this product, but this website (Target) did not. I will be returning this item as soon as I can.

    Sturdy, Handy Step Stool!

This step stool is very sturdy! It can withstand the weight of 1 200lb adult with ease. I am extremely happy with this purchase as I purchased a step stool from Marshall’s and it broke within a few uses! I have used this several times since I purchased it many weeks ago and I’m very happy with it! If you’re questioning whether to get it you should. The only downside is the first step which is really small but I just put one foot on it gently to get my other foot to the second step, then I move my foot from the first step onto the second step. 9/10!!!

Not recommended for tall people at all. I'm 5'9 and despite the quality is pretty decent, is too small and feels unsafe when you use it, not to mention the first step is tiiiiiny.

    Great Step Stool

Love this step stool. In the past, I’ve always bought a single foldable plastic stool, but they always ended up breaking on me after a year. For double the cost, I decided to buy something sturdier and went for this metal, multiple step up options. It’s easy to store out of the way, while also lightweight to carry around the house for hanging decor to getting stuff from the kitchen cabinets. The only flaw I will note is it can slide when on kitchen tile, which can be a bit scary when you’re descending and the slight push of your first foot when it reaches the floor might send it sliding to where you have to gain your balance fast or fall forward with the stool.

    Handy for short people

Perfect little step stool…at least it used to be. I had two - one for upstairs and one for main floor. Doesn’t take up much room and the first two opened really easily. Got a new one for my greenhouse and this one doesn’t flow as easily from closed to open, but other than that it’s the same. The first time I stepped on the first one it felt a little precarious, but I got used to it and I use them all the time.
