A: If you fold it a little to keep it upright, the estimated width will be shortened by 1.96-3.93 inches.

Very sturdy and perfect for our living space! We did not want to attach a gate to our walls. Love that it can be configured multiple ways. Even my 6 yr old can open the door to easily enter the blocked off area!
