Amazing espresso with my Jura
I've always used Apollo in the past for pour-over, and it is very good. But I just bought my first espresso machine, a Jura, and am making the most amazing cappuccinos with Apollo beans. I think I drank five cappuccinos yesterday because they are so freaking good!

Super Great for the value
This coffee bean is roasted perfectly and the flavor just hit! So balanced after dialing it. Just wish they have more fresher bags.

Great base for nutraceutical concoctions
I prefer single-origin light roasts but medium-roast Apollo is my go-to as a coffee base for concoctions w/added nutraceuticals and stronger-flavor extracts. This medium-roast pour-over (my only brew method) keeps ingredients/extracts from dominating. Which keeps the coffee flavor up front. Akin to using culinary matcha for baking to ensure the matcha flavor comes through.

Delicious
Love this coffee. Creates a uniquely bright and flavorful espresso too! Great for americano and with a variety of milks.

Nice Bright Flavor
I like this one! It has a brighter flavor. I use it for pour over. Does not taste dark or chocolatey, which is why I chose it.

perfect cup of coffee
I love Ethiopian coffee and this is a perfect blend. The longer the bags sits, the better the beans get. I've had a bag for a little over a month now and it's tasting better than when i first opened it. LOTS of lemon zest, floral sweetness, little milk chocolate on the end. Perfect cup of coffee if you're a fan of lighter roasts.

Very unimpressed. Probably last of the previous years harvest?
I was very disappointed. Granted, I did order a blend of Ethiopian coffees in February so presumably they are using last year's harvest, but hey... Tried a variety of grind sizes and I didn't really get any of the traits that I associate with Ethiopian coffees. In their defense, it's not as if a lot beans from this year's harvest from Ethiopia have arrived in the United States yet, and I assume that this blend will be a lot better in a couple of months. But this bag was not very good.

Didn't meet expectations. Poor representation.
Not terrible, but Counter Culture (& Ethiopian) coffee is (supposed to be) special. This bag poorly represents both: the uninspiring equivalent of airport souvenir shop coffee bought as a last-minute gift. I'll stick to single origin Ethiopian.

Don’t use a burr grinder with the roast
I love North African coffees. This one smelled really god but it clogged my Breville burr grinder. I cleaned it thoroughly and tried again and it clogged again. I went back to my regular roast and the grinder has been fine since then. Not sure why this happened because the beans are not oily. In any case, starting you day with a clogged grinder is very bad.

Great even 3 months off roast!
It's been about 2 years since I've had Apollo, having moved on to trying ultra-light Nordic style offerings from other roasters. But I needed a bag quick after the holidays and saw a bag on sale at my local grocery store. It probably helps that I have a high end grinder at home, but I was super impressed from the very first shot - no milk, no sugar, I pulled a ristretto that was citrusy, floral and silky, just as advertised, 3 months post roast! Bravo Counter Culture! Paved the way for bright espresso 15 years ago, still delivering today!

Bundle and Save
this was included as part of a package deal and is not a coffee I had previously purchased. It fits in well with my usual coffee purchases and the discount is why I tried it.

Asked for it from a coffee shop
Had this as an incredible citrus, vegetal espresso one time at a random coffee shop, and was so impressed I later called and asked about their beans. More shops should be using light roasts as an option for regular espressos drinks. Have ordered a few times and it's always good. Doesn't quite reach that same peak on my home setup, but it's a good choice for a reasonable price, and consistent.

Spring Day in Cup
light, delicious, full of flavor. If you are looking for a coffee that is amazing and delicious, but not heavy tasting...this is your coffee. It has all the things I'm looking for in a coffee but doesn't leave me feeling like I just ate a steak.
