Great but skip the tube

Like others said, the tube is tough to use. I only used about a quarter of it and the next time I got a little aggressive trying to squeeze it out and split the tube down the middle. The product is great so this time around I bought the tub to hopefully have better luck

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Plastic Wood All Purpose Wood Filler. . Plastic Wood is formulated to apply as a thick/heavy bodied paste. If the product should thicken to the point of being difficult to spread or is excessively dry (which typically indicates that the product is aged or nearing/beyond its 12-month shelf life), providing that the material is still pliable, a small volume of water may be added to the product and mixed thoroughly until the original smooth/even textured consistency is restored. Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477. If you would like to verify the age of the material, when calling in please be sure to have the package available, as we will need the production code printed on the package in order to determine the date of manufacture.
Not happy with product as advertised on label.

Product says nail and screw anchoring. I used this in solid wood to fill screw holes. There is no way this product is strong enough to anchor screws with even light tension. It is very misleading or just untrue. Now I have to clean out the filled holes and fill with something stronger. More work for me. I filled some wood scratches and gouges in wood and it worked just fine for that. It was easy to apply smoothly and sanded easily.

Thank you for posting your feedback. DAP Plastic Wood All-Purpose Wood Filler is designed for minor cosmetic repairs, such as: nail/screw holes, cracks, knot holes, etc. When attempting to install fasteners as an anchor point in a weight bearing application, it is critical that the product be fully dried. The introduction/installation of fasteners prior to reaching a fully dried state will result in low holding power/poor performance. Because you did not provide any background regarding your project, application technique or application conditions, it is difficult to provide a more detailed response in this format. At your convenience, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information regarding your experience and to offer some additional usage guidance.
Not in a tube ever again!

Good thing I was only filling 30-40 small nail holes. I had to squeeze the tube with all my strength to get enough out to fill each hole. I only did 5 or 6 at a time and put the cap back on each time. Poked the tube with a long screw each time. Will never buy the tube again.

The product itself is just fine, fills holes, sands easily, etc. in the past I have purchased this in cans but have never been able to use all of it before it hardens (and I am a regular woodworker). It's frustrating though it may simply be the nature of wood fillers in general. I was excited to see the local hardware have this in tubes with screw-on caps which would, I hoped, offer a better seal and longer shelf life. After removing the cap and cutting the tip off of the tube it was extremely frustrating to find that I couldn't even get the filler out of the tube. After much poking, prodding, and squeezing I gave up and sliced the tube open and got the little bit that I needed. The top third of the filler had hardened just enough to prevent it from being able to squeeze through the opening...brand new tube. The remainder of the product was tossed in the trash.

Not sure if product was out dated because there is no packaging date. Product so dry could not get it out of tube.

Probably Not in the squeeze tube

I got this squeeze tube instead of a can cause I only needed a little to fill a couple holes on my project. Second squeeze the back end came apart and about a 1/3 came out at once. Well I put it in a ziplock bag but I think it will still dry out. BTW I was NOT squeezing too hard and I had cut the end of the tip off so the other end was open.

After cutting off the tip, I was unable to squeeze any product out. I even used pliers and it was almost dry before it hit the wood. Finally split the tube to get any semi-paste on my putty knife. Had to throw most of it away.

Nearly invisible patches with gel stains

This product in Natural works really well with General Finishes oil-based gel stains, so much so that the patches are nearly invisible. Easy to apply, easy to sand. Does shrink somewhat, so needs to be overfilled or apply multiple coats.

I m not a woodworker. I suck at spackle. Me and caulk hate each other.. I so wish I would've read some of the comments here, especially the feedback from DAP. It took me two cans of the product to finally figure out how to use it correctly. Small areas and slight pre mixing. BUT...My patch turned out beautiful!!!!! No one can tell the difference from the patch and the real wood. I did make the stain on the patch just a hair darker then blended it to match. Don't overwork the product. Try a practice piece first. Thank you DAP for a fabulous product. It saved my bacon. And my moms table. And me since I'm the one that dinged it up.
Would be nice to have in caulk tube!

I'm filling some glue-lam beams that have separated between the plies slightly. Not structurally a problem, but more astetically an issue. The tubs and tubes are difficult to apply in my case, and the quick dry time makes it challenging to get into the groves (1/2 - 1 inch deep and 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide). I have tried loading the product up in a clean blank tube of caulk with good success, but loading it is a pain and messy. Would be great to offer this in a caulk tube where the tip size could be varied and it would help it get into deep grooves or cracks and could be used for longer fill scenarios. Do caulk tubes of this product exist?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an outdoor Adirondack chair that had been sitting outside and needed repainting. I used this filler on the small cracks and it worked great. Once dry, I was able to sand it and paint it, leaving a smooth finish. I wasn't aware of this particular wood product before, but I'd use it again if I had the need. I'd recommend it to others as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Dap Plastic wood to repair an old antique wooden plant stand which had issues with cracking, separation and wood rot. I dug out the rot and used the new filler to fill the holes and separation cracks. It dried and sanded great. It was very easy to use and clean up afterwards. I also used it to fill in nail holes on trim board. I just filled and painted and it looks great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a unique situation. My dog peed at bottom of couple of door frames causing the door frame bottom portion to popped out and created a hole. We were in the mood to change the door frame but finally came to know about this product. First I took off the uneven wood with the help of a chisel then I applied the product. Waited for couple of days to dry out then sanded to finish. Color was not matching and tried painting it, but somehow color were not sticking to it. Otherwise liked the product. Took some time to dry off.
I would buy this product.
