Q: is this gluten free?

submitted by aubrey - 2 years ago
  • A: It may not be gluten free, but do you know the story behind the development of the bread? If not, you may want to Google it. This man, (Dave) changed his whole life from being a criminal to a caring man, who now helps youth to not go down the same path he did. Anybody who turns their life completely around should be congratulated. God bless you, Dave!

  • A: No, this bread is not gluten free.

I came to the website to look at the ingredients after having a vegan tuna salad sandwhich that was out of this world. The bread was sooooo.... good. I love that it does not have high fructose corn syrup or a bunch of other crap in it. Really love this slightly sweet, nutty bread.

Drop the sugar

Joss - 2 months ago

This bread has quite a bit of added sugar, which is really not needed. As a packaged bread, it's not too bad, maybe better than the competition, but the added sugar is a distraction and makes the bread a lot more unhealthy than it would be without it.

Love the sweet nutty seedy bread. Great straight out of the loaf or toasted. Love it plain just as it is. Please don’t change the recipe!

This is a Cake Not a Bread- It has TOO MUCH SUGAR

1 out of 5 stars
Cautious Buyer - 2 months ago

It is good for being organic and whole grain! However, overall, as the ADDED SUGAR is 5 grams per slice, it should not be considered a bread; rather, it should be considered as a cake. I have compared it to MANY other products and ON ONE adds so much sugar to bread.

This is a healthy alternative to your every day bread! Macros are great and awesome source of protein. Supply cannot keep up with demand at local stores (Walmart is the only one carrying it near me).

I loved killer bread until this week for its grainy and natural texture. Now it’s gone phony soft like other commercial breads - so disappointed!

Hi there. Thank you for contacting us about your recent DKB experience. We're sorry to hear the texture didn't meet your expectations. Our product quality (and your satisfaction!) are very important to us, and we are sorry we missed the mark. Your feedback has been shared with the team.

Best bread for peanut butter sandwiches

High in fiber and with lots of seeds, but chewy and never dry. A thick slather of chunky peanut butter and you couldn't ask for a tastier lunch.

Almost the best bread ever, just 1 problem

It took a few weeks to notice that this bread is OBVIOUSLY sweet. I find intentionally sweet bread tastes terrible and I don't need sugar in my bread to like the flavor and texture. Neither do kids, they get enough hidden sugar in their diets, they don't need sugar in their bread. Things I ate the bread with earlier covered the sugar well enough that it, wasn't obvious. But as I had it with a variety of things, it became obvious that the bread is sweet so I can't deal with it. If I could get this bread without the sugar, it would be my go-to bread, 100%.

Hi, thanks for contacting us! If you're looking for a low-sugar DKB variety, we'd suggest our Powerseed loaf which is sweetened with organic fruit juices and contains only 1g of sugar per slice.

Sickly Sweet

This bread has just about everything going for it (except perhaps for an unduly dry texture compared to similar European breads) but is ruined by a ridiculous excess of sugar. Why do US bakeries adulterate their bread in this way?

21 grain bagels and thick sliced breads

I was eating natures own honey wheat…then my brother told me to try this bread. Super glad I did it’s VERY filling and had a great taste. Not too pricey either. Cinnamon raisin bagels are delicious with strawberry cream cheese. I made a pbj with my thick slices and the grains go very well with the peanut butter. I’m VERY PLEASED that my brother suggested such a great tasting bread. And to think it’s HEALTHIER than the other breads that I have had throughout my life…..THANK YOU for making such a great & healthy bread….a bread that I will eat until I die!!!!!!
