While we don’t recommend eating it intentionally, it is not a problem if the applied balm is ingested. With lip balm, that’s to be expected. A: Although Dr. Bronner's does not yet have a gluten-free certification, none of our products are made with ingredients derived from grains or ingredients containing gluten, and we do not process gluten in our factory. On the other hand, our Magic All-One Chocolate is gluten-free certified per the standards set by the GFCO.

My review is based strictly on the scent. I thought it was unscented but it smelled absolutely awful. I don’t even know what it smells like I just know it smells bad and immediately grossed me out and made my stomach turn as soon as I applied it. I hope target brings back the mint one because Dr. Bronners mint lip balm is my absolute favorite. But if this is the only one target is carrying now I’ll have to switch to a different lip balm after years of using Dr. Bronners.

Favorite Lip Balm Ever
I used to be addicted to Vaseline lip “balm” and it completely destroyed my natural lip barrier and their ability to create their own oils. I quit all chapstick, and this is all I use now! It’s only simple ingredients that won’t ruin your lips. The people saying it doesn’t work for them probably use weird products with petroleum that don’t allow this to absorb. Also, I saw other reviews about mold, which I had never heard and haven’t experienced! So I looked up my order, and I ordered 2 in December of 2021 and I just now finished the one stick and still have the other. I’ve never once seen mold, so that’s interesting. I wondered if it was a change of formula, but older reviews mention it too. Maybe a bad batch? Either way, I’m going to reorder!

About the Mold Problems
I swear I am not being paid to write this; it is illegal to praise a product in this way with payment without disclosure! This chapstick is ONLY made up of natural moisturizers, combined with beeswax for protection (instead of vaseline) and vitamin E. Check the ingredients list. The reason it grows mold is that it also contains no preservatives (which is great for people like me, who are sensitive to many preservatives). The solution: add vinegar (any kind: white vinegar, apple cider, etc.) or rosemary oil, and do NOT apply directly to the lips. Apply it to your finger and rub it on. Natural and/or homemade beauty products like this COMMONLY grow mold. It does not make them unsafe, it is honestly just an unfortunate side effect of a good thing.

Gets moldy fast
I really like this product because it’s natural ingredients. Hydrates well. However the last 2 I’ve purchased I’ve noticed what I thought was dirt and grime getting caught in the middle hole. I threw my last one away because of this and then tonight I checked the newer one I’ve been using for a month or so and saw dirt all around the rim of the cap. Then it dawned on me….mold. I’m wondering if this is why I’ve been struggling with allergies more than normal. Talk about being grossed out. Gosh. Now I’ll be checking my chapsticks more frequently but sucks I’ve got to throw away a product that’s not even half used.
