Waste of money, no hole in lid for liquid to come through

The design is horrible, water literally does not come through the straw. I kept giving this to my baby thinking she was drinking and I took a sip one time and nothing comes through, there is no hole for water to come through the lid once it is up the straw. Not sure why this have good reviews

DO BETTER - 6 days ago

I got these straw cups for my daughter, who recently moved to the toddler room and every single time I go, and I pick her up. Her bottle is pretty much filled to the brim with water simply because the suction on the straw continues not to work. I’ve done everything in my power to make sure that it’s connected every single morning I push the straw in as hard as I can into the top and take a sip. It works for me, but it seems like a soon as she moves it or does anything out of the ordinary with it it disconnects it’s very frustrating. My daughter is not getting the water. She needs at school. Definitely moving to a new cup. I definitely wanted to love these they are so cute. I love the handles on the side love to design and I love everything about them but the suction absolutely sucks. Please get something else.

This straw bottle will NEVER leak. My toddler has dropped it from varying heights, thrown it, shaken it, etc. This is the only truly leak proof cup that has survived him!

I came here to see if people are having the same problem we are, and it seems like they do. The milk does not always travel up the narrow straw and gets stuck. I have to reset it after every couple sips, so not even worth it. Wish I could have my money back.

The straw i got with the bottle seemed to have a hole in it somewhere so i purchased another straw to replace it (it came with two in a box) and neither of those straws seemed to work either. i am actually very sad that these didn’t work out for me i really wanted my baby to try a straw.

This cup worked great for a few weeks and then randomly stopped working. I tried reassembling it multiple times, taking careful care to follow instructions both on Dr. Browns site and videos of people doing it, but nothing worked. The more I researched, the more I’ve found that a lot of people have had this same issue with no solution.

I wanted to love it… the design concept is good and I don’t mind the cleaning. But issues include the pressure causing milk to travel up the straw and leak out (if you’ve seen this happen, before you know what I mean). Unfortunately the laws of physics are working against it. And if the parts aren’t lined up and pulled through exactly right, then the straw won’t function, causing my toddler to scream “NOT working!!!” angrily at least 2 times per sitting. It’s a pity too, cause I loved the ounce measurements and the slim size. Sigh… my search for the perfect sippy continues

Venting defective but found a solution

I think there must have either been a defective batch or it's just not well designed. I realized that the hole on the side of the straw piece (top part) is where the liquid flows through. If I push the bottom part of the straw all the way up into where it's supposed to go, it blocks the airflow and makes the bottle airtight. I can't get anything out of it myself. I found that if I put the bottom straw piece in halfway so it's not covering the side hole completely, it relieves the pressure. I think I can even sort of adjust the flow that way. I don't think it was meant to be that way but it works now. I use it once in a while for practice but I don't think I'll use it long because of this issue.

Leaks and straw comes loose often

Ames305 - 3 months ago, Verified purchaser
I like the handles. It’s easy for my baby to hold. I like that the straw is weighted. Sometimes my baby will drink with the tip of the straw being upside down and he is still able to get some. I dislike that it leaks a lot. I got this in hopes of taking it on the go but I hardly do out of fear of spills. I also dislike how often I have to open the cup and push the straw really hard back into the hole because it gets loose and my baby doesn’t get any liquid out of it. That is the most frustrating part about this cup. If those last two things could be improved, then it would be the perfect cup.

Perfect for babies that never took a bottle

The only thing my son will drink from! To everyone says it’s hard to drink from, maybe you don’t have it put together quite right? I tried my son’s and it super duper easy. Both of my kids were exclusively breastfed and never took a bottle, so transitioning to a sippy or straw cup was extra hard. They had never learned to hold a bottle and tip it to get the milk out, so trying to teach them to tip a sippy cup to get water out has been a struggle. My daughter figured out straw cups by 6 months, no issues, but my 7 month old son has been a lot more picky. He also doesn’t take pacifiers. Basically and sort or silicone nipple or straw like thing that goes in his mouth just gets chewed on. Finally this cup has fixed that! He immediately took to it and drank more water today than he ever has before. Not having to tip it is great and the straw is different than any other cup. It has a bend to it so baby just has to lean towards it and not go from the top. It also isn’t round, it’s more flat. I think that was what made the difference for my son. I’m going to have to buy a couple more!

I bought this for my 10month old baby and I am disappointed. I love using dr brown bottles so I thought this was going to work too but I hate it. It’s so hard to drink out of it. Idk the technology is just not good. My baby has a hard time getting water out and when I try it’s so hard to suck. I wanted to like it but I think I’ll return it or just wait until she’s older.
