Q: What’s the difference between these bottles in the natural flow bottles

submitted by Kay - 3 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The options+ bottles have the green venting system (green reservoir and green vent insert). These bottles can be used with or without the venting system. We only recommend taking the venting system out when the baby no longer has any gas or feeding issues. The traditional bottles have the blue and white venting system (blue reservoir tube and white vent insert). These bottles are our original Dr. Brown's bottle and cannot be used without the venting system because of the design. Both bottles function the same with the venting system in the bottle helping reduce gas, spit-up, burping and colic.

Summary of reviews

Dr. Brown's bottles are highly praised for their effectiveness in reducing colic and gas, making them a popular choice for many parents. They are especially appreciated for their vent system, which helps with reflux and colic issues. However, a significant number of guests report issues with leaking, particularly after warming or during feeding. Despite the cleaning complexity due to multiple parts, many find the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

So far so good - many say bottles leak but that’s caused by bottles being warmed while top is tightened. Warm bottle without top to prevent expansion and there’s no leaking. That’s going to happen to any bottle if warmed incorrectly

    Leaking bottles

Agree with what everyone is saying, these bottles worked great for the first few weeks. Then, they begin to leak. Not sure if it’s after being warmed up in the doctor Brown warmer or just poor quality. They will leak during the mid or end of a feeding and typically not from the start. It’s very odd and becomes frustrating especially when it leaks all over your baby who then begins to cry because of it. I’ve been using the dr browns cleaning brush to clean it and it works well, however I’m not sure how truly clean they are.

There is a class action lawsuit against Dr. Browns for the excessive leakage of toxic microplastics into milk when these bottles are warmed up, even though they are specifically marketed as BPA free.

    It leaks badly

The 2 bottles I have were gifted thankfully. It seems like a good bottle with a great vent system for gas, colic etc. However it leaks pretty bad where the nipple and ring connects and around the area of the ring and bottle. I’ve noticed space all around the nipple and ring to the point I can slide my nail into the side of it. Mind you the nipple came attached to the bottle already so it’s no like I assembled it improperly.

At first I was like why do a lot of reviews say they leak because at first they don’t. For the first few week they were great but now they leak. I’m having to constantly wipe the bottles due to milk leaking. I still think they’re good but they need to fix the leaking issue.

Both of my little ones have used this after trying countless brands. My daughters are both breastfed but when I went back to work this was the only product that they would drink from. So glad my aunt mentioned it to me. My oldest was colicky so this helped with the gerd/reflux as well.

    Leaks too much

    2 out of 5 stars
    mom - 1 year ago
If you’re trying to slow how fast your baby eats these bottles are NOT for you. I had to switch because my newborn would eat too fast and would choke on her milk bc of how much these bottles leak. The amount of milk that would drip when I’d turn the bottle upside down is insane plus these are pain to clean when you’re already sleep deprived.

These bottles leak all the time. They come with a stopper for travel, but they also leak while baby is drinking out of them. The anti-colic feature is great but also annoying and time consuming to clean.

As a first time mom, I was very frustrated that every single time I had to shake these bottles they would leak, but my son did well with these bottles....one day very sleep deprived I had snapped on the bottle cap to the nipple lid then screwed on to the bottle with vent already inside, I shook the bottle...NO LEAKS!!!.... Would suggest to company to add this in the instructions "place cap on lid first before attaching to bottle" to make it easier for parents.

We’ve been using these bottles for 3 months and they leak so bad. It’s so annoying. Baby is soaked in milk and we can’t tell how many ounces he’s actually eating. The preemie nipples are amazing and it’s the reason we continue to use these bottles because although our baby wasn’t a preemie, he drinks too fast and he chokes on other nipples. I wish they would fix this issue.

These leak very bad. If using a bottle warmer then be prepared to loose half of your formula. You have to sit thr bottle upright b/c if you lay it down then you'll find a pool of formula. Definitely not pleased
