Such a great toy! I bought it for my 8 month old because she is very into different textures and she LOVES it. My friend ended up buying it for her 8 month old as well because he loved it so much.

Variety
Good variety of textures. Difficult to remove the covering on mirrored squares as it was sown onto the square. Would have liked them to be larger in size.

Good simple game
A good simple game for working on matching, with visual and non-visual cues. I used the game with few older students to and had them write down all the adjectives they could for each item they felt in the bag. I would suggest that they could make the objects different shapes.

Tactile Fun
I love that this product includes 8 different "texture square" activities that you can facilitate with your kids. It can be used with a variety of ages. My older kids enjoy the texture collage activity where they are given a texture square (e.g. bumpy, smooth, rough), and then they explore their environment to find similar textures (e.g. feathers, leaves, sand) and create a picture out of those textures! I also like that it comes with a small bag to contain all of the squares; it makes it convenient to store.

Great idea but not well executed
Not great as a sensory took for kids who are sensory seeking, like my son, as the bags don't have any weight and only a few of the textures really vary from one another. My boys still like playing with them, for stacking or sorting, but the bags do not engage for long.

Hi Erin,
We apologize that the bags are not as engaging as you had hoped. If you find that your boys are no longer playing with the bags, please email us at CS@educationalinsights.com or call 800-995-4436, and we'll gladly take them back.
Thanks,

Feel and learn
These products are great for exactly what they claim to be! They are small squares of varying textures. They can be used to sort, develop descriptive language and explore tactile sensations. My 3 and 5 year old have both played with them and liked them enough, however, I am pregnant with my 3rd and am excited to use them with the baby as I am sure they will be covered with drool while they are used to teach vocabulary. I have read the other reviews and if you are looking for beanbag or pillow-like squares choose something else as these are flat, however I like both the quality and endless possibilities for use.

Educational
My 2 1/2 year old twins enjoy this toy more to put the pillow square in the bag and take them out again. Or they build a tower with them piling them up. They do like the different textures and it is a great comparison to real objects. Example "soft like my cat". The toy however doesn't occupy them for a long period of time, but still a good toy and educational too.

Another great game!
This was Bella's other fave. It comes with 10 different pairs of pillows and patches all with different textures. It also comes with a sack to out them all in. We seperated the pairs 10 on her table and 10 in the sack. She would choose one from the table and then reach in the bag to see if she could find the match. This is perfect for our preschoolers and their small hands.
