t’s frustrating to me that as consumers we now have to buy these massively overpriced ex discovery kits to try samples of fragrances, especially because the testers are almost always completely empty in store or unavailable. It’s a waste of money, and I wish these lower costing brands would include some sort of redeemable certificate or gift card for a larger size of one of the fragrances sampled. This is a good mix of scents, but considering high end and luxury decants sell for about $5 from reliable decant sites, this is a ripoff. These fragrances are $30 for the full size 2 fl oz EDP, and you don’t get any discount from the sampler set. You’re paying $4.40 per sample vial in this set, or $2.93/ml. The travel EDP spray is $1.30/ml not including that they are buy 3 get one free, so you can pay as little as $0.97/ml in the purse sprays alone. The full size EDP is the best value if course at $0.50/ml. I’ll be returning this discovery set - it shouldn’t cost more than $10 maximum or at the very least should come with a redeemable voucher.

I like the first three but the cherry one just isn’t for me. It’s a little strong and gave me a headache but the scent isn’t bad. The New Rouge was so strong though. I wasn’t a fan and I could smell it through the packaging. I threw it away because it overwhelmed me and the outside of the other bottles smell like it. Sweet on the bottom is my favorite. The pistachio one smells really similar to it to me. I bought these blindly to try this brand out for the first time. They all lasted from 9 am until I went to bed so that was nice too.

I was a bit let down by my recent fragrance purchase. Out of the 5 fragrances I ordered, only 2 lived up to their online descriptions. Furthermore, the scents didn't have the lasting power I was hoping for. It seemed like they were overhyped and didn't meet my expectations.

Smelling expensive on a Budget 10/10
I bought this sample set to see which one of these I would actually like and I am glad I did. Based on reviews, I thought I would find the “Without a Trace” most relatable to my current fragrance preference. That was however not the case at all. Once applied it wasn’t a compatible fragrance for me at all. Instead I found the “Pistachio Please” to be my favorite, then the “New Rouge” and “Not Another Cherry. As far the fragrance intensity. Personally I think these are dosed just right to be subtle, which I prefer. I also find that they last throughout a 12 hour period, unless you expel a lot of sweat. If you want fragrances that take over an entire room, these may not be it. But if you want to smell good for yourself and those that you may come in closer contact with, these dupes are definitely it.

Good, but could've been better
The price went up between the first discovery set and this one, but the samples are the same size. Also, I wish Sweet on the Outside had been left out, as it was in the first set. It would've been great to try one of the several other new scents in its place. (Same for Not Another Cherry. It wasn't in the initial discovery set, but it's been out forever.) Longevity is hit or miss between scents. The little pump bottles sometimes don't spray at first, especially once they're low. The fragrances themselves smell great. Some aren't my taste, but none of them induced a headache.

An affordable path to an experimental experience. Not Another Cherry: Blackened cherry syrup with crushed rose. Pistachio Please: Pistachio, sundae toppings (whipped cream, caramel), sunshine. The New Rouge: Vanilla, candied petals of a small, mixed bouquet. Sweet on the Outside: Cherry vanilla ice cream. Without a Trace: Baby detergent. The best one is the pistachio one. The worst is the one that should leave no trace in any atmosphere. I would love to see Target’s take on an exclusive set based on all vintage scents. Oh, and dupes work- no one can tell. I used fake Giorgio in middle school successfully. Target, keep it up.
