A woman and a man, undertaking their life journey hand in hand, create a family with a rambunctious group of spirited children who in turn become teenagers and adults. Through this story of a seemingly ordinary family, the reader is led to reflect on the universality of human traits, gender roles, and cross-cultural identities, as the Parisian family makes a disruptive yet founding move to America.
