About the Book

ECPA bestseller Cara Putman returns with a fast-paced romantic suspense that is ripped from the headlines.

Book Synopsis

Bestselling author Cara Putman returns with a romantic legal thriller that will challenge the assumptions of truth tellers everywhere.

Savannah Daniels has worked hard to build her law practice, to surround herself with good friends, and to be the loyal aunt her troubled niece can always count on. But since her ex-husband's betrayal, she has trouble trusting anyone.

Jett Glover's father committed suicide over a false newspaper report that ruined his reputation. Now a fierce champion of truth, Jett is writing the story of his journalism career--an international sex-trafficking exposé that will bring down a celebrity baseball player and the men closest to him, including Savannah's ex-husband.

When Jett's story breaks, tragedy ensues. Then a commercial airline crashes, and one of Savannah's clients is implicated in the crash. Men connected to the scandal, including her ex, begin to die amid mysterious circumstances, and Savannah's niece becomes an unwitting target.

Against their better instincts, Jett and Savannah join ranks to sort the facts from fiction. But can Savannah trust the reporter who threw her life into chaos? And can Jett face the possibility that he's made the biggest mistake of his life?

Flight Risk is about Savannah Daniels, a tough attorney who has too much on her plate — a law practice, a drug-addicted sister who takes advantage of her at every opportunity, and a teenage niece in need of a loving and responsible care giver. When Savannah is questioned by reporter Jett Glover about illicit activities of her ex-husband, Savannah is unconcerned. The marriage has been over for 15 years, so it’s not her business. But when the story breaks, and then a plane crashes, and then there are other mysterious deaths, all of which involve people mentioned in the article, Savannah and Jett both wonder if there was more to the story than anyone knew — and if they can piece together the truth before the killer finishes the job. I found Flight Risk to be full of action, emotion, and excitement. Savannah was likable, and I could empathize with her as she struggled to maintain relationships under difficult circumstances. I also enjoyed Jett’s character as he is emotionally open and honest and protective. The story moved at good pace and kept me interested. Overall, I really enjoyed Flight Risk and look forward to checking out more books by Cara Putman. *I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

RRR's Review of Flight Risk!

Cara Putman has given me several enjoyable evenings of reading which is why I wanted to read Flight Risk though I knew I would dislike one aspect of the plot ... The fact that Savannah was divorced. And yes, I disliked that part of the book but it didn't take too much enjoyment away from the book. I have been intrigued by Mrs. Putman's suspense, even though the characters have professions that I know next to nothing about, like lawyers as Savannah was in this novel. Touching on hard subjects such as s-x trafficking, suicide, and murder this is a hard to put down suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat! I have to lower my rating of Flight Risk due to my dislike of some content that I felt didn't have a redemptive ending. I really liked the journalism side of the book, it was really informative! Those that have read the author's previous books will enjoy Flight Risk, as will readers who have enjoyed Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, and Dee Henderson's books. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

3.5 stars "Even in the absence of peace, she had a choice. Trust God or take control." Savannah Daniel's already demanding schedule is thrown into overdrive following the publication of a newspaper article citing her ex-husband's patterns of over-seas travel as proof of his involvement in a high stakes trafficking scheme, causing her young niece (Dustin's daughter) to crumble. Shortly after the expose's release, two of her law clients fall under suspicion by the F. B. I. following a Washington, D. C. plane crash; ironically, Savannah's ex-husband and one of his associates were passengers on that very plane. Contributing even more stress is the fact that the journalist who broke the original story, Jett Glover, is pushing Savannah for more details about Dustin's supposed business partners. It's a train wreck of circumstances, just waiting to happen. And it does. "Flight Risk" has some amazing story threads; what initially appear as totally disconnected scenarios, eventually merge together rather brilliantly. Even though the multiple demands on Savannah's time are mentally exhausting, and the cautious relationship that she forms with Jett doesn't really have the space it needs to flourish, the author ends really, really well . . . for she proves that the truth is worth Jett's tireless efforts and that Savannah's heart can risk taking flight a second time.

In Search of Truth

With its easily-read style, depth of characters, and clues to be untangled, Flight Risk is a romantic legal thriller that will enthrall readers. The book was intense, with plenty of surprises, but not creepy. The author also accurately depicted the DC-area setting. I really loved the depth of characterization in this book. Savannah is a competent attorney who runs her own law firm. She has had to be tough and rely on herself since her divorce. But she is compassionate, and fiercely protective of her niece. She has managed to graciously deal with awkward relationships, and this shows great character on her part. Jett Glover (did his parents know he would be a journalist when they named him?) has turned his tragic past into pursuit of truth. He is fair and kind. As Jett's story and Savannah's intersect, they find that working together helps them both find the answers they are looking for. Readers who like mystery, suspense, and legal thrillers will enjoy this book. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, through Celebrate Lit, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

Great Romantic Suspense!

I found this book hard to put down and it has a hero and heroine that all of us would like to know. I admit that Jett Glover is a little obnoxious at the beginning but being a promising journalist is probably the reason and it doesn't take long to determine that he is a good, moral man. Savannah Daniels is an outstanding lawyer devoted to helping her niece and she made me want to be her friend. It is when they become involved in the same case that a romantic involvement seems possible if they both can survive the intrigue and danger. "She needed to walk away, yet she wanted to walk closer. Was she playing with fire? Probably, but she wanted to take the risk. For the first time in years, she felt the tug to see what the man was really made of." Yes, there is romance but Flight Risk is basically a thrilling, fast-paced suspense story that left me wondering just what Savannah and Jett would discover as they join forces to uncover the truth about Savannah's ex-husband. I must admit that it certainly wasn't what I thought when I began this story! If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will definitely want to read Flight Risk. Cara Putman left me longing for another story that will perhaps offer more of Savannah and Jett's story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. There was no obligation to write a favorable review and I am voluntarily sharing my own thoughts.

Fantastic legal suspense

"We're all one choice from a life change." In this spin-off from The Hidden Justice series, Cara Putman once again brings her audience a fast-paced, satisfying read that combines action-packed suspense with legal drama and romance. The book gives Savannah, the heroines' mentor from The Hidden Justice series, a voice filled with broken past, impossible present, and uncertain future. This book is a stand-alone since Savannah is just a shadow of a character in the previous series but seeing Hayden, Emilie, and Jaime again will be fun for those who enjoyed The Hidden Justice series. The complex and detailed plot of this story will keep your attention until the very last page of the book and the characters of Jett and Savannah will capture your heart. It's interesting that Jett, a dedicated and determined investigative journalist, is paired up with Savannah, an equally dedicated and determined attorney, as a plane crash, a new black box technology, a scathing expose of an article, and multiple murders bring them together in a seemingly confusing and unrelated course of events. The adventure they undertake to untangle the complicated web involves a whole lot of twists and turns, plenty of action, and rollercoaster of emotions. The legal aspect of the story was fascinating, especially to this particular reader who is a legalese novice. If you enjoy romantic suspense with a good dose of legal drama, you will love this book. Cara Putman is the queen of this genre! I received a copy of the book from Thomas Nelson via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Twists and Turns

Cara Putman’s new book, Flight Risk, is a thriller/mystery with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. A plane crash, a court case, an exposé, an ex-husband...all somehow linked together as attorney Savannah Daniels and journalist Jett Glover work together to unravel the connections. Putman’s characters were believable and well-developed. As the book went on, the plot became more engaging. One drawback was that there were several characters written in such a way that it felt like I was missing something, as if I should know them and their stories already. I checked out Putman’s other books and sure enough, they all had been characters in a previous series that I haven’t read yet. If the reader has already read her other series, then I’m sure this book will make more sense and be more appealing. As is, it is still a good book and a fairly quick read. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Must Read Thrill Ride

This one is worth taking a risk on as it will suck you into a vortex of a thrilling ride. What seems like truth can have hidden secrets and when printed starts a series of events that somehow ties into Savannah’s legal clients and her personal life. Add in a few romantic sparks and you have a winner. I especially enjoyed watching Savannah’s walls break down and making her a more relatable character as the book progressed. We all need someone to lean on and when we let our defenses down and become more vulnerable then God can work on the perfect plan for our life. Ms. Putnam is an expert at writing a political thriller that you won’t want to put down. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

Finding truth in a fake news world

What is truth? The tension never quits in another fabulous legal thriller penned by this author. Two story lines intertwine in this page-turning suspense. Jett Glover, reporter, prides himself in reporting only the truth. He spends many long hours researching each story making sure his information is correct and true. How then can he accept that his article may have ramifications that are totally unexpected? Savannah Daniels is a very good lawyer currently with a patent infringement suit that seems to morph into something much bigger with each new day. If they work together will they solve both of these mysteries? Between intrigue, mystery, human trafficking and unexpected danger you will not put this down until you figure out who or what is behind this all. The author does a fine job of keeping the reader in the dark - I will admit it took some time before I thought I knew who was behind it all. I highly recommend this book! What a fabulous way to spend a day. I received an ARC through Thomas Nelson, HarperCollins Christian Publishing, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. The impressions and comments are my own and were in no way solicited.
