Q: Would it work for carpet over 3/4"?

A: Hello, Thank you for your question. This product is designed for carpets over 1/2" thick, including both the carpet and the underlay. You can measure your carpet thickness using a pin and pushing the pin through the carpet and padding until it hits the subfloor, then measure the distance on the pin from the subfloor to the top of the carpet pile. If your measurement is over 3/4" deep, we would recommend picking a chair mat designed for your carpet thickness. Our Floortex Advantagemat Plus range products are designed for carpets up to 3/8". Ideal thick fluffy carpets
The mat is thick and sturdy. I am 150 lbs and my office chair rolls around easily with very minimal bending on basic fluffy carpet. I think the thickness and material is just right for my weight. Of course if you are heavier the mat might sink more. The spikes keeps it in place.

We bought this since our old one did not like to stay put on the carpet. Not even 30 minutes on the floor and it is moving. I thought the grippers would be deeper since it is for a plush carpet. They barely penetrate the carpet.

Hello, We are sorry to hear about your unexpected experience with this item. We can confirm that these mats are designed for use on carpets over ½” thick including padding. However, the carpet weave can have an effect on gripper penetration. Where the weave has limited penetration there may be a slight degree of mat movement over time. We keep grippers to an optimum length to suit the vast majority of carpet types and to avoid damage to carpet fibres or padding. We are sorry that you are experiencing some mat shift but hope you see this as preferable to potential carpet damage that could result from mats with longer grippers. Thank you, Floortex Team
