After your cat uses the litter box, the clumping cat litter granules turn blue within two minutes if possible blood is detected, and they remain visible for 48 hours. In addition to helping monitor your cat's health, this Fresh Step clumping cat litter delivers 15 days of odor control guaranteed (1), and it forms tight clumps for easy scooping. To use, evenly sprinkle about half of the granules pouch on top of the litter in areas where your cat frequently urinates, then monitor the granules for color changes daily. It wasn’t as messy as some other litters we’ve used and helped us identify some urinary tract issues with one of our cats. I was absolutely shocked at how well this worked.

This was our first time trying the heavy duty litter, and it definitely did its job! No smells, clumped great, minimal dust. I’ll definitely get it again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat Ramona can be picky so I have been scared to change her litter in the past. Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of her old litter. Luckily, I didn’t have any problems transitioning this litter into her potty routine. She took to it right away! As the one who has to change the it, I thought it clumped really well and there seemed to be a fairly low amount of dust compared to our previous litter. The color changing beads didn’t change colors for us but I suppose that is a good thing. We weren’t concerned about her health in any way so it seems a bit unnecessary for most cats. If the beads alerted you to more issues than just blood in the urine, I would think it was more worth it but it’s good for cats with a history of recurrent UTI’s. Overall, we are happy and will probably stick with it since we already made the switch.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had high hopes for the Fresh Step Health Monitoring Clumping Litter, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. While the idea of tracking your cat’s health through color changes is great in theory, the execution left a lot to be desired. First off, I noticed that my cat started tracking litter around the house. This is something that never really happened with our usual litter. It made cleanup more tedious, and I suspect the texture might be lighter or more prone to sticking to paws. On top of that, the odor control was noticeably worse. Within a day or two, the smell became more prominent than what I’m used to. I didn’t notice any changes with the health color indicator, so it felt a bit unreliable. Overall, I appreciate the concept, but I’ll be sticking with our regular litter. The added mess and lack of odor control just aren’t worth it for us.

The clumping ability of the litter makes it easy to clean up and it doesn’t seem as wasteful as some litters.

The color changing feature to detect blood in urine was a great added feature that I'm fortunate we did not have to try but could be great for anyone with pets that are older or have health problems.

It is unscented, which i like. You add these white beads to the litter to monitor for issue in urine. Mine stayed white, which is a good thing. Overall, I'm happy with the litter

The scent is fresh and pleasant and the litter works well. The packaging can be improved and the box had leaked granules out of it and was a bit messy so that could be changed to a plastic container.

The litter tracked all over the house as well. I didn’t notice a scent to it, but like I said, she never even used it. Overall, I am unimpressed with this litter.

I really like that they added the health benefit of being able to detect blood in the urine. Would be great for older cats. The value is great and it's not expensive like other brands.

The little bag that comes inside the box for the health monitoring is great. I wish it was the litter itself but I appreciate this because my cat doesn’t like the other name brand one.

However it seems to clump up nice and ends up in the tray in one piece. It also didn’t have much dust when the litter was being poured out of the box. The color of the litter didn’t change when my cat is using the litter box which means there’s no blood detected which is a nice reassurance when it comes to her health. Do I think I need this litter, no, is it nice yeah, are there cheaper options that basically do what I need them too, also yes. If you’re concerned about the health of your cat, this is the way to go, otherwise I’ll stick to my regular litter.
