There's more to these cities than music, though, and Frommer's gives plenty of space to their historical and natural sights, museums, and, of course, food, including Memphis barbecue and Nashville hot chicken.

About the Author
Ashley Brantley has been writing about food, travel, and culture for more than 15 years. Having lived in three of Tennessee's four major cities, Brantley loves her home state -- and loves writing about it. After earning an English degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and a master's in journalism from the University of Memphis, she made Nashville her home.Brantley currently lives in The Nations neighborhood with her husband (a chef who loves running, traveling and seeing live music performances), her daughter (a bright, vibrant toddler and a force to be reckoned with) and her dog (an 11-breed, 13-pound mutt). When she's not writing about food, culture, or entertainment for the Nashville Scene, you can find Brantley planning her next family vacation, seeing a Jason Isbell show, volunteering at Our Kids (a Nashville nonprofit that helps children affected by sexual abuse), spending time with family, or watching truly terrible reality TV.
