Description
Set your sights on something greater with the Approach® Z82 laser range finder with GPS. The flag finder locks in with vibrational feedback, and image stabilization makes it easier to find and range the flag, giving you precise distances within 10” of the pin. See full-color 2-D CourseView mapping and Green View overlay on more than 41,000 courses worldwide. Quickly scroll through hazards on the course map with hazard view. Approach Z82 displays wind speed and direction so you can take that into account when approaching your shot (when paired with compatible smartphone). The PlaysLike Distance feature adjusts based on uphill or downhill slope. An external indicator light — which can be turned on and off — lets you and your playing partners know when you’re in tournament mode. Be sure to keep track of your score, and measure shot distances to participate in weekly leaderboards and review your stats (when paired with compatible smartphone).

I bought a Garmin Z82 a couple of years ago and have really enjoyed the rangefinder. One troubling issue has been the inability of the rangefinder to link with Android phones for more than 15 minutes, rendering the advanced wind reporting functions useless. They recently came out with software upgrades that seem to fix the issue. Love the unit and all features now work. Would definitely recommend the rangefinder - great display and excellent features.

I have a Z30 and Z82. It looks sketchy through the view finder like a movie or something. I already get hole image and hazard data on my iPhone. The PLAYS LIKE feature always works for 2-3 holes then stops.

This device does not hold a good charge to last a whole round and sometimes will lose connection with my phone via Bluetooth losing information such as wind and other useful information I purchased the device for.

Bought this to also be able to see wind direction and speed. It continually disconnects from phone while playing every time. For the price, disappointed. Should have just bought a simple rangefinder.

The Z82 connects to the iphone. I don’t understand why the Garmin golf app will not track club distance by sending the geolocation to the phone and allowing the user to select the club. This training aid would be so incredibly valuable given the Z82 already has wind and elevation that can help the user better understand their club choices. Also, the app should be able to suggest three clubs for front/flag/back of green approaches. The current golf app is worthless other than it gives the user a static view of the course layout and a scorecard option. This is a terrible waste of data exchange opportunity. In its current state, the Z82 doesn’t offer the value expected at the price point.

This rangefinder has everything you would want. Things to be aware of; the cursor is very sensitive and requires getting used to, if you travel a lot to play golf make sure you download new/updated courses every month and lastly, I wished in their algorithm Garmin could factor in altitude and temperature distance in their calculations

While I am happy I bought this, it is extremely touchy when trying to sight a pin because of how it zooms in on a pin and magnifies an unsteady hand. It would be much better if the zoom was adjustable so us old guys that might not have rock steady hands could hold the range finder steadier
