Fails to Reset Change Filter Light
I bought a cabinet depth GE refrigerator and have been very disappointed that about every filter I change fails to reset the Change Filter light.

We want to help with resetting your filter. If replacing the filter does not automatically turn off the replace filter indicator on the display, press and hold the water button for 3 seconds until you see the "Replace Water Filter" indicator and hear the tone, which indicates the filter has been reset. If you continue to have an issue, we recommend calling our GE Appliances service team - Bodewell at 1-833-426-3393, Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. -- 8p.m. ET to have your refrigerator evaluated and repaired as needed.

Failure of water filters
Filter seems to be working but is difficult to install. The last batch of 3 that I bought didn’t work. I needed to have a repair man bring one from his shop. That was quite an expensive venture that I had not anticipated. I was very disappointed.

Overpriced monopoly
I hate that you can only use the water dispenser on the fridge if you have a “genuine” GE filter. Mind you these filters are more than 3x the price than regular filters because you need a chip to make it work. Absolute scam! Will not be getting any GE fridge as long as this continues.

Did not work in GE Refrig
I must replace the water filter in my GE refrigerator every 6 mos. The "GE APPLIANCE" filter was defective. The repair tech it was missing the RFID chip. $50 filter and $130 service call to put in an authentic filter.

Water tastes different after replacing filter
We recently replaced our RPWFE filter in our refrigerator. We ran the required amount of water before tasting it. The water after replacing the filter doesn't taste the same as before. Both filters were genuine GE products. Has there been a change in what is filtered by the filter?

We're glad to assist you! It is important to note that filters do not add anything to the water. They only reduce the amount of chlorine and other contaminants from the water. The absence of these minerals and chemicals is what often causes the tap water to taste different. The filter cartridge should be replaced every six months or earlier if 170 gallons of water has been dispensed or the flow of water to the dispenser or icemaker decreases.
