About the Book

Months ago, hot-tempered celebrity chef Max Cavanagh publicly fell from grace, leaving southern belle celebrity chef Hadley Beckett at the center of the drama. Now forced to work together again, these polar opposites will either fall in love or burn down the kitchen.

Book Synopsis

Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanagh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel's other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he's sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public's good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness . . . and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.

This was an exceptional read from the tantalizing appetizer to the savory entree to the scrumptious dessert. I was swept away into a culinary dream of a story that had me from the start. I loved the banter, witty remarks, and the romantic tension. The characters were so interesting to get to know as the layers were peeled away and you saw what made them react the way they did to each other and situations. I laughed and yes teared up as I felt pulled into the story. Im thankful I won a copy of this book as I will now add this author to my must read list. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

This story sizzles like frying bacon! I am not a foodie and I don't tend to watch reality TV but I absolutely adored this book. It is very character driven and the two main characters, Hadley Beckett and Maxwell Cavanagh have chemistry. That chemistry is pretty explosive in the beginning. The two chefs are appearing in a reality TV celebrity chef cooking competition. Hadley drips Southern charm and Max radiates his bad boy persona. The camera loves the tension but behind the scenes it's just ugly. If you are looking for a good summer read put this at the top of your list. I enjoyed the exploration that actions have consequences. Max is just volatile but what if he decides to change? Is it possible? And if it is how do you overcome other people's expectations? The story also looks at the hurts from the opposite side. Hadley knows that forgiveness is expected when you are a believer. But what does that look like and how to you go forward once you make the decision to forgive? I've read several of Bethany Turner's books and they just seem to get better and better. If you have the opportunity to read any of her other books, do it! But by all means get this one . . . I think it's her best yet. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

What would happen if the final two finalists competing for the title of America's Fiercest Chef actually liked each other? That would be much too easy and it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining and it certainly isn't the case for Hadley Beckett and Max Cavanaugh. Hadley is as nice and sweet as Max is bad-tempered and annoying and, unfortunately, she becomes the object of his temper tantrum caused by drinking too much. It is after he returns from rehab and they both are featured together on a cooking show that the real fun begins. Hadley Beckett's Next Dish is filled with witty conversation and amusing interaction between Hadley and Max, along with their very strong chemistry, as they begin working together on a cooking show titled Renowned. Author Bethany Turner has written an entertaining romantic comedy centered around cooking and I especially enjoyed that she uses different cooking terms in the titles of the chapters, such as Steep for one month, Bring to boil over high heat, and Reduce to simmer. Max's character evolves from irritating to likable and it's obvious that a big part of his growth is due to being around Hadley. She is funny, hardworking, and very pretty, so is it any wonder that he begins to see her as more than a competent chef? The question is, will Hadley change her opinion of him? If you are looking for a clean romance with a very subtle faith message of forgiveness and redemption, you will certainly want to read Hadley Beckett's Next Dish. I received a complimentary copy from Revell but was not obligated to leave a favorable review. These are my own opinions.

Looking for some great laughs, a good, clean romance, with tension and twists right up to the end? Look no further. Bethany Turner’s Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish is a great read. Hadley Beckett is a sweet, country, Southern gal who has her own homey-type cooking show. We meet her as she faces off against infamous bad-boy chef Max Cavanaugh in a taped cooking contest. This novel is both comic relief and one to make you introspective. As the point of view switches between Hadley in first person and Max in third, we get to see both characters struggle against themselves and each other. Can Max the terrible re-invent himself into a lovable, likable person? Can Hadley trust that love doesn’t have to end badly? And, of course, can they prove to their Renowned tv audience that two chefs are not too many for one kitchen? Ms. Turner has penned a book I couldn’t put down, with twists in just the right places. Bethany Turner likes to challenge the reader to think about things differently. This time one of the topics is alcoholism. Not everyone who crashes and burns due to alcohol is an alcoholic. This is a message that Max strives to give out. Hadley mentions a few Biblical characters, and Max mentions wanting to find out what causes her to be different. Beyond that, Turner chooses not to elaborate. I was disappointed, as I love to carry away a few spiritual nuggets of wisdom. All in all, a very fun, clean book, just without the raisôn d’être I hoped for. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Revell through RevellReads via NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinions, which are solely my own.

““Okay, everyone! We’re back in twenty. Places, please.”” - Opening line by Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish by Bethany Turner “Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish” is my first time reading Bethany Turner but I’ll be back for more, I love her sassy and well-written dialogue! Hadley and Max are poles apart and the interactions between them cover the range from laugh-out-loud to heartfelt. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them both! The novel begins slowly but by a quarter of the way through the story had taken enough unusual turns I had to know how it was going to end! The leading characters are set up as opponents, literally on a reality tv show and then in reality by the cooking show business. Hadley, however, refuses to be Max’s enemy and her determination to love her neighbour well allows the story to follow the line it does and builds a relationship between the two. It isn’t sickly sweet or cliched but created through the power of connection, taking time to know someone and believing the best, it”s beautifully done and a reminder to live love out. The food does sounds delicious, do not read this one hungry! I read it straight through, I highly recommend it. It’s a four out of five on the enJOYment scale.

3.5 stars "With her 'y'all come back' and her 'kiss my grits' . . . her?" Chef Max Cavanagh was a force to be reckoned with under normal circumstances, but under the influence of alcohol on a nationally televised cooking competition (which he mis-understandably thought that he should have won), Max takes out his anger on the wildly popular Hadley Beckett, whose mortification by his behavior only serves to tank his career and elevate hers. Fast forward. It's time for an apology. Will the sweet, genuine, and talented Hadley Beckett be able to co-exist alongside this new version of Max Cavanagh. . . . . . because there's something marinating in their so-called "kitchen" that will demand spending much more time in each other's company. From competitors to co-conspirators to companions (if by companions you mean sharing kisses), Max and Hadley will steal the hearts of their readers with their constant, sometimes ridiculous banter. . . ."in sickness, poorer, and worse, right"? Enjoy this clean, romantic comedy for all it's worth! I receivec a copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

This is another fabulous and funny book by Bethany Turner. Bethany is a master at integrating all we love about pop culture into the fictional lives of her characters. The references and humor shines through and makes me laugh out loud, literally! If you like cooking shows and your go to TV station is the Cooking channel, this book is definitely for you. It is about 2 television chefs who are competing to be the best chef, have the greater audience and the coveted number 1 spot on television. And it is filled with yummy sounding dishes. If cooking isn’t your thing, read this book anyway. It is also filled with funny situations, a lovable main character and a loathsome antagonist. It is a wonderfully romantic story of enemies to friends (maybe) to lovers you won’t soon forget. It makes you want to believe the best in people even when all the evidence shows that you shouldn’t. Bethany is a wonderful, fun loving author that brings laughter and fun into her stories, with a healthy dose of references to make you smile! I received an advanced reading copy of “Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish” by Bethany Turner for honest feedback of the book.

Let me just say, cooking shows are not my thing. Never have been. I mean, I cook and bake. People in my house want to eat every single day, so I figure I might as well try to enjoy it. But it isn’t a passion. Bethany Turner’s writing will, however, always be my thing. Somehow she manages to whip up a situation that is both familiar and bizarre then lets it spin - characters and all. While you furiously turn pages, the characters become people who make you laugh (sometimes snort) right out loud while their hurts start dripping off your chin. By the time you hit those last few pages, you half-think to yourself, “Maybe I should slow down? Nah! I gotta find out how she lands this thing!!” Reading this Turner means you take a sticky situation, fold in an unlikely romance while stirring the pot well, then let the whole mess rise in anticipation of how it will all come together while setting a few cups of powdered sugar aside to coat while still hot out of the oven! #HadBeck

Just when I thought I couldn't enjoy Turner's work more...she does it again! I truly fell for these characters and their struggles. So relatable and funny, too! Hadley Beckett and Max Hadley have nothing in common but their love for food. She's the quintessential southern belle and he is the haughty, know-it-all chef. While Hadley is easy going, Max makes headlines with his angry antics. His handlers have had enough, and in order to do a LOT of damage control, Max must swallow his pride and partner with Hadley for a reality show. This is one of those stories that features characters you hate to love/love to hate (I'm looking at you, Max!), but it is truly worth the read. I loved the themes of reconciliation, second chances and finding love with the last person you'd ever expect. While their differences are what pushed them together, can this odd couple make it work? Or is this a classic case of a team that will wither under pressure? If you like FoodNetwork or any cooking shows, you will love Hadley and Max's story. Be prepared to want to cook up a little kitchen magic of your own after reading this book! This would be extremely fun to use as a book club selection--you could even host a Zoom type cooking class together! Turner never lets me down in the romcom department. If clean, encouraging, but funny fiction is your jam, please don't let Hadley Beckett's Next Dish pass you by! I was an early reader, thanks to Revell Publishers. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

5 Stars! (More like a bazillion!) *Picks jaw up off the floor* Wow, I'm speechless in the best way! Fair warning: there will be gushing galore in this review! I loved Hadley Beckett's Next Dish so much that no words I can string together could possibly come close to doing this amazing book justice, but I will try my best! I loved Hadley! She is my favorite kind of heroine, smart, sassy, spunky, but also kind, caring, generous, and delightfully real! I'm claiming her as my new fictional BFF! Without spoiling anything let me just say that I absolutely loved how Hadley's faith was so evident in the way she treated all those around her and especially Max, such a beautiful reminder of the amazing grace Jesus Christ offers to us all! Hadley I wanna be like you when I grow up! LOL! And Max, be still my swooning heart, where is my fainting couch when I need it?! I must admit that reformed bad boy isn't generally one of my favorite hero types, but as soon as Max came on the scene, even though he tried his best to keep me from liking him at first, I liked him anyway because I could tell there was more to him than just acting like a jerk, and those feelings promptly turned to love and before I was halfway done I knew without question that he is my favorite hero of Bethany Turner's, and that I had found my newest book boyfriend! Max is definitely one of my favorite heroes of 2020! Why is Max so awesome, and why do I love him so much? Well, you're just gonna have to read the book to find out! ;) I don't consider myself a foodie, but I do love food and this book gave me an absolutely fascinating glimpse into the life and mind of a professional chef. I felt like I was cooking right alongside Hadley and Max! But make sure you have snacks on hand because reading this book will definitely make you hungry! Hadley Beckett's Next Dish is a beautiful story of forgiveness and second chances, and a fantabulous romance that will touch your heart and have you grinning and laughing uncontrollably from beginning to end! In my humble opinion this book is exactly the ray of hope the world needs right now in these scary and uncertain times! Hadley Beckett's Next Dish is everything I dreamed it would be and so much more! I absolutely loved every second of this book and it's definitely one of my favorite reads of 2020! Most highly recommended! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own!

Love love and love this story!! We all have those people in our lives that can bring out the worst in us. We wonder why God would ever have us together if they do nothing but drive us crazy. Sometimes it's the because He knows that we need each other, that there is a specific reason even if we can't see it yet. Sometimes the people that seem to be the biggest distractions turn out to be the biggest blessings. God knows what He's doing, we just have to let Him do His thing and watch how it all turns out. I received a copy from the publisher, all opinions are my own.
