Shrinkflation strikes again

No flavor!!
This is awful! I remember how this used to taste back in the 90’s and this is FAR from that taste, used to be so flavorful , I had to add my own seasonings to it and even then it tasted a bit bland. I even added hot sauce…it tasted a little better but…I’ll never buy this again!

My whole family has been raised on Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff... I started with the regular version but switched to the Deluxe version when it came out. I saute 16 oz of sliced mushrooms in 2-3 tbsp butter, then pull the mushrooms out and leave the mushroom broth in the pan... I use 4 cups whole milk, and I add 1 tsp of garlic powder and 1 tsp of onion powder. I never use water when making this; I substitute a cup of sour cream (we REALLY like sour cream!) for the 1/2 cup water. The sour cream goes in last, right before serving. I let it simmer for a couple of minutes to take the chill off

This does not even taste close to what it used to. I also recently tried the cheeseburger helper a few weeks ago and the same they do not have any flavor anymore, it used to be a favorite for my family, sorry to say we will not be purchasing again.

The Beef Stroganoff flavor is enjoyable, but take a good close look at the Nutrition Facts! Who gets by just eating 1/3 of a cup of the prepared dish for dinner or supper! That only amounts to a measly few bites! Even one cup's worth per person could be considered skimpy by some folks' standards. Imagine tripling the sodium content to get a reasonable size supper serving; that would mean 1590 mg sodium there! Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff is definitely NOT recommended for people on sodium-restricted diets!

Personally, I am not a huge fan of hamburger helper. Not because it doesn't taste delicious but because this was my go to meal in college. My husband, on the other hand loves it so i keep a few boxes in the pantry.
