This product states it is for 5yrs plus, but my 7yr old son had a great time going through each of the instructions and making the instruments ready for the experiments. The set up instructions were easy to follow and he did them all by himself. Then going through the book to follow the exploring questions. He played with his younger brother who is 5 and they were amazed that something they had just made could actually make a good sound!! This product is great for those children that have a creative mind and like making an end product. Without realising it they are engineering and exploring the science of sound! Plus points are the that the instruments actually work and the boys were proud to have made them themselves. The exploratory questions made them think and try out the different sounds they could each make. A negative would be that you could do with more questions/activities to continue the experience, even if there was a link to go to to download? The story at the start was great for my 5 yr old but not so relevant for an older child. Overall a great gift for a child and the quality of the instruments is actually really good so they will last for sometime if looked after.
