Q: I understand the room darkening.....do these also provide some sort of blocking from the outside in? I recently moved to a street level apt and I don't want everyone to be able to look into my space if the curtains are closed.

A: I have these curtains in gray and you most definitely cannot see through them.

A: The picture shows 2 panels of 63" x 42" panels. Typically in photos the 84" panels will hit the floor. The 63" panels will be near the window sill.

A: The curtains came in today and I was really disappointed. It's got black out curtains and not thermal as advertised. There is actually a difference between the two. I guess I'll be making a return.

submitted byAlec - 2 years agoTarget staff supportA: Use math to figure it out. Since the pocket is 3", we can assume the circumference when it is opened up would be 6" max. Since the formula for the circumference of a circle is C=pi*d (3.14 * diameter), then the diameter you are seeking is the circumference divided by 3.14, or 6" / 3.14. So, the largest diameter of a rod that would fit is 1.9". 2" would be too big, anything less would fit fine.

These work so so great! I have them over each window in my home. And it has significantly reduced the amount of heat coming in to each room. They are also great to keep the lights from outside coming in.

Do not wash! This review is after two separate sets of these blackout curtains (different colors). The first set was ruined after washing. Somehow I convinced myself it was my fault, and purchased a new set, and installed last fall. I like to take the curtains down in the fall and spring to wash and rehang. Well, here we are in spring, I took them down, mad sure to follow manufacturer instructions. Straight out of the wash, the blackout side is stuck to itself - just like it's predecessor. While I was a bit more patient this go around trying to unstick the panels, there are now still hold and splotches where the material would not release from itself and instead ripped. This is not only visible from the outside, but from the inside as well when the now light shines through. These curtain panels are a great value, and look nice and basic, which is what earned 2 stars - however, they are not actually affordable or sustainable if they cannot be washed. Its incredibly wasteful to throw them out instead of washing, and honestly I don't want to vacuum the curtains instead, especially since the label clearly says machine washable.

These curtains are very pretty and bring great sophistication to the space. However, the backing on the curtains does not seem to be very durable and cracked and got a hole in it right off. You cannot see it from the front, but when the curtains are drawn, and the sunlight comes at them from the back, you can see the missing piece of backing, because there is a spot on the curtains where the light comes through differently. It looks odd, and so they are not cute when the curtains are drawn. Definitely, the style is great, but the quality is not there.

I live by the beach in Florida and the sun shines right through my bedroom window in the morning. I bought these to help and they work so good! They’re also simple and not extravagant. I’m so happy with my purchase and the look of the curtains. They have the “blackout” material on the backside, but it’s not super thick to the point that your curtains looks extremely starched. Another plus is when the curtains and mini blinds are closed, the curtains block out all unwanted heat the sun brings.

Washed in cold water tumble dried low as the instructions said. The inner lining melted! I looked at the material and it’s rayon. You can’t dry rayon yet the instructions said to! Would not recommend. Also turned dark grey when pulled out of water before I even dried them.

Followed the washing instructions and the inside part stuck together! Then when gently pulling apart it rips off the white coating. And while the front of the curtain looks the same, when light pours through you see all the spots that got peeled off! Very disappointed. I had 4 panels in the old pattern that I bought and loved so I bought two more in the current color for my back slider. Went to spring clean and wash all curtains and now all are ruined and I need to go buy 6 new curtain panels. Do not buy if you plan to wash!
